The wait to be seated was going to be 30-40 minutes and we were told to wait outside. There was zero care whether we were there or not. It was 20 degrees and their outdoor heaters weren’t working but we waited outside as instructed. We...checked on the time and were very curtly told that we’d be notified when there was a table. It was the hosts unpleasant attitude that caused us to leave. So, if you don’t mind being treated poorly, by all means go.More

A retro lounge that makes you feel you are back in time. Dark lighting, cozy booths, and bartenders who mix you a drink based on your flavor preferences. No menus - they claim to have over 450 cocktail including ice cream drinks and flaming concoctions....A must try spot!More

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! If you are anywhere near Milwaukee, you must visit this place. It is a non-descript, white "house" that sits on a corner in South Milwaukee. You think you are going to go inside a noisy, corner pub....like 1000's across the USA. Oh,...no....there isn't anything like this. It is literally like taking a time machine to 50 years ago. Bryant's has a huge bar...the lighting is soft and dim, and the place has some small tables and booths. I can't imagine it holds over 50 people. But...the drinks....they have no menus...yes...no drink menus. You tell the bartender what flavors, types of drinks you like and they will make you something. They are responsible for knowing how to create over 500 drinks. They will have 5-10 of something you like. They have Depression era drinks, flaming drinks, ice cream drinks. They have it all. You literally look around and think you are going to see Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin, or Frank Sinatra sitting in a small booth. Wait a minute....they have been there--Bryant's has pictures to prove it! Sunday-Thursday they have $5 Old Fashioneds and other Depression-Era drinks. Folks...this is a treat of a lifetime. Please stop in!More

Bryant's definitely serves some of the best cocktails in Milwaukee. It's a bit pricey but worth it. I'd recommend going on a weeknight when it's not over-crowded and the staff can be more attentive.

Returned after a 25 year hiatus (went here before having kids, now just sent the last one off to college). It was like taking a step back in time. Greeted at the door by a gentleman wearing a suit who directed us to seats at...the bar. Nice touch. The atmosphere is dark, very dark...your eyes will take some time to adjust. Any other restaurant or bar I would downgrade for being this dark, but in this case it really adds to the mystique. And despite the darkness, the place sparkles, and you know it's clean and polished, as opposed to being dark to hide the dirt. The bartendenders will make you anything you want--the more complicated the better. They specialize in "Specialty" drinks but do not have a list for you to browse. I wish I had thought about what I wanted before hand because when we came here I really didn't know what I wanted. I like looking at a menu, as I've had many enjoyable cocktails over the years but can never remember their names or ingredients. So come prepared to this place. You don't have to tell the bartender all the ingredients. He'll figure it out, but he does need some direction, a basic name or idea or style of drink. The drinks are pricey BUT they are STRONG. People around me were getting ice cream drinks and drinks lit on fire which looked fun, but I don't do dairy so that wasn't an option for me. I also don't want a zillion calories... Very fun, lively place!!More

Found this place off the Esquire review, and decided to go after Tripadvisor reviews confirmed it. Was worth the Uber ride from downtown. Place gots that HiFi vibe and feel. Bartenders believe in their craft. Ordered an Old Fashioned, and when I was shocked by...the unusual (not bad) taste, he immediately confirmed I was not from Wisconsin and took the drink back. He stated the Wisconsin (ers...ites?) drink their old fashions with sparkling soda water. He immediately made the Rye variation, which was on point! Had a bourbon sour and (wife) a cosmo, which were both good. Hemingway daiquiri was good. We started to challenge the bartenders to make drinks based off random ideas and thoughts in our head. Each one was delicious. Place was not cheap, but no one walking through the doors should expect that. Tip well. We'll be back in the future.More

I remember bringing my parents here when I was in college. It was dark, with some string lights, like tree branches, providing just enough light to make out the people at your table. Additional light could be provided by a flaming purple drink in a...hurricane glass. The waitresses had Flo-like hair (from One Day at a Time, not the Progressive commercials) and were slightly surly, but for sure knew what you wanted to drink based on a description that included the color, the booze type and whether it was on fire or not. Well, I am happy to say, that despite it's change in ownership, it's inclusion on some fancy "best of" lists and the rumored (or real?) hipster clientele, I found a recent visit to prove it virtually unchanged. Granted, I got there shortly after opening on a Saturday night (I am older and while I like my drinks a little darker and less flammable, I try to avoid crowds), so the crowds I used to hang out with were not there. In fact, the table next to us contained several couples aged somewhere between myself and my parents, seeming to also be either reminiscing or else tourists--as evidenced by their sweatshirts and sparkles. It's definitely just as dark. If I had to guess, I'd say it's the same furniture. You order the same way. They use the right cherries (this is important to me now). In fact, the only difference was the age and disposition of our server: she was a very nice young lady who was very helpful in providing drinks we enjoyed -- no lip. I still love this place, and it lived up to the nostalgia. That was nice.More

Wonderful ambience, we sat and listened to some old jazz music and felt like we stepped back in time. The bartender is very attentive and will suggest a drink based on your flavor preferences. I'm not sure what I'm drinking but it is exactly what...I wanted.More

I hadn't been to Bryant's in probably 20 years, but we were in the neighborhood so decided to stop by. This place is a gem - so much character, and they still make drinks with care (a lost art!). I had a throwback ice cream...drink, and my husband had a brandy manhattan. We were very glad we stopped in.More

This is not your typical bar. You tell the server what you are in the mood to drink, and they serve you a well-crafted cocktail that matches your preferences. Basically everything is "off-menu" and personalized to your liking. Around the holidays they serve "Tom and...Jerry's" in a special room upstairs. This is a hot, rum and cream based beverage that I highly recommend. It is a unique experience not to be missed.More
