AN OK happy hour features a variety of oysters for $1 which is definitely the best item on the menu. We were a group of 7 so had a wide variety of dinner items none of which would be rated with much enthusiasm. Disappointed with gumbo and shrimp items.

My husband and I have dined here several times. It's my go-to for shrimp and grits, the chicken and gumbo are good too. Hubby ordered the chicken dinner special, it came with mashed potatoes and maple braised greens. The greens were actually good, coming from someone who is not a fan of the sweet-savory movement. The chicken was great too,... More

We had about 20 people for a work dinner and the food and service was terrific! Family style was wonderful as we all tried many new things. The food came out hot and the server was helpful when I asked for a vegetarian dish for a colleague. Not too long after, a platter of their famous mac & cheese came... More

Service was fantastic but food was not to my liking. How do you ruin chicken fried chicken? Add some wierd herb like rosemary. Rough cut fries tasted like any frozen fries you can get anywhere. Mashed potatoes were very dry and tge tasso gravy was horrible tasting. Not my type of food.

We're happy you found your service to be fantastic, but one of the most basic aspects of good service is checking to make sure you are thoroughly enjoying your food. It is clear we let you down in this respect, and we are sorry. We prepare nearly everything at Maxie's from scratch, including cutting our Rough cut fries by hand,... More

We were here for a big family dinner. The meal was served family style so we got to try a lot of different dishes which was very nice way to sample the menu. The salad and fried green tomatoes were a good start. Of the entrees they served the shrimp and grits were the best - good flavor and heat.... More

I can't say enough about this restaurant - the food is amazing and the service is phenomenal. I really enjoy their special events - for example the Kentucky Derby - which take an interesting event and turn it into a celebration with period attire, era drinks and live music.

We went here for fathers day, we had a long wait but it was worth the wait, Had drinks at the bar while waiting and they were made very well. The food was out standing and plenty of it. This place is just off 94 on the way to Miller Park.

There is a lot to enjoy at Maxie's but some disappointments, too. The menu contains most of the southern mainstays such as shrimp and grits and bbq ribs. Our server was helpful but the service had big gaps between courses. The ribs were tasty but the side order of beans for some reason was overpowered with tyme. The bread pudding... More

We had a late and excellent dinner at Maxie's. What a delight to find a great menu of southern food as well as chef specialties to choose. We had raw oysters with good fixins, and a simple yet great wine list. Stellar Mac n cheese, pork cheeks and arugula/corn salad, all just excellent. What a find from the road. Justin... More

Went there after a Brewers game. Easy to find and parking is accross the street. Lots of locals in the bar area having a great time. Food was really good. Great selection of Beer as well. our server could not be more helpful. My friends had the crabcakes and loved them. They had sweet potato fries that were the best.... More
