We all ordered Fish Fries tonight. First time we've had a bad meal at this restaurant, but Jake, the Manager, made it right. For some reason my fish fry wasn't good. I sent back a piece of fish that was fishy and then my fries were soggy. Both were promptly replaced. Then, my son's last piece of fish was fishy... More

My husband was craving fried chicken so I googled area restaurants serving this and found Maxie's. It's only 7 miles from us so decided to give it a try- and loved it! My husband didn't get his fried chicken as it wasn't on the menu at this time-- (added as a special sometimes) but a country fried chicken was available.... More

We went to dinner on a Sunday night at Maxie's, and we will go back again. This was a birthday party for my wife. We started the meal with a nice champagne and oysters (the 7 day oyster happy hour is a great deal; 4-6 PM). The oysters were pristine, and the champagne (as well as the rest of the... More

Went there to celebrate a birthday dinner with family. Food tasted really good and the atmosphere was pretty cool. I had the BBQ Black Angus Beef Brisket $24 and my sister had her regular that she loved in the Pecan crusted Rushing Waters Trout Filets $22. We both had the white cheese mac and cheese which was really good. Very... More

I saw "maple" something collards and thought I'd give it a try. I was not disappointed. Arrived around 8 on a Sunday to find most seats taken. Was shone to a table immediately and told about the specials. The Jambalaya was wonderfully spicy - enough to have some zing but not so hot that you had to grab the milk.... More

Our son and daughter-in-law treated us to dinner tonight at Maxie's, and we all enjoyed a fabulous meal with a New Orleans flair. From the flatbread appetizer to the cornbread with whipped butter, stew with brisket & corn, crab cakes, pulled pork, and jambalaya . . . we were all extremely satisfied with our choices. We were "stuffed" and had... More

We went to Maxies with my college age kids based on a recommendation from a coworker. My daughter had been their before and also had good things to say. The service was great. The waiter was attentive but not pushy. We had appetizers and a dessert and nothing seemed rushed even though there was a line waiting for table. The... More

I lived and worked in the south for several years, and had ample chance to enjoy southern cooking and hospitality. Maxie's gives it a try. Cornbread was great. Food was good, and was memorable more because of gratuitous spiciness, not taste. Ample portions. OK parking. Easy on and off access from the I94 expressway. Interesting setting inside. We dined upstairs... More

Had heard good things about Maxie’s and decided to stop for dinner. Showed up at 7:00 on a Saturday night. No reservations. Place was packed. Receptionist said it would be about a 30 minute wait. 20 minutes later and we were at our table. Started the evening with a Hurricanes. Not the Patrick O’Brian flavor but not bad. We ordered...
