If you are looking for good food and a nice restaurant that isn't a typical chain restaurant, this is a nice choice. The restaurant is small and romantic. In the summer there is a beautiful patio out back with a nice garden. Lots of gluten-free...and vegetarian options. I think that all restaurants are having trouble getting enough staff, and you can pretty much expect slow service anywhere you go these days. So I can't hold that against a restaurant if it happens, especially if you go at a busy time. It helps to make a reservation.More

First dinner in Tosa after our daughter moved there. Not a good experience. Service was just ok, but not really friendly. Waited ages for initial drink and food again just ok. The seafood app to share was great, but my risotto was obviously cooked by...“chef microwave” as it burnt my mouth. The main problem was the wine. We ordered a bottle FALSELY described as being from the very famous Stags Leap winery. The bottle served most definitely was not. It was an inexpensive wine titled “The Stag” a clear trick to fool the customer . Didn’t want to make a fuss in the restaurant while with company, so emailed restaurant following day. Chef Feker the owner immediately replied and admitted the error……..he offered me a gift card toward a future visit to credit the price of the wine $60…… twice I followed up with him and still to date no gift card was ever received and he is still mis advertising the Stags Leap wine.More

We had an opportunity to come to this restaurant for dinner in November. A bit distant from Downtown Milwaukee, the restaurant offers a quiet atmosphere and great service. Our waiter, Freddy went above and beyond to make sure that we were both well taken care...of during our visit. Even though one of the items was not available in the menu, we decided to try both seafood linguini and mushroom pizza. Both food items were decent in flavor, but at the end of the day, this restaurant provides great service and feel that is worth trying out. I would recommend it!More

We went to Il Mito many times for business or private dinners. Our previous experiences were from good to wonderful. We tried in the past different appetizers, pastas dishes, pizzas, and the lamb, risotto and specials...But this past Friday... The service was ok but not...pleasant... we had too wait 15 minutes or so for drinks... but more important the food was terrible!!! I took the duck with rice cake, spinach and blueberry reduction. The duck was lukewarm and very dry, the spinach were overcook. Worst the presentation was not appealing at all. It came as a black pile... the spinach had turned black and the duck and rice cake were hidden under the black sauce! By husband took the lamb and it was lukewarm and also very dry. It looked like it was a microwave meal! his food was also piled with no effort on his plate.... As you can guess...we did not stay for dessert! we did not complain... not our kind, but we will not be back soon!! Happily was not a business meal : It would have been really embarrassing. I should have taken pictures!!!More

Dinner for four plus a three-year old on a (busy) Wednesday night. Since it was all family, everyone gets a taste of all the dishes. We had the Ribeye Florentine, Lasagna, Chicken Parmigiana, a Penne-Bolognese Special, and child's portion of Fettucini Alfredo. It was all...excellent. The steak was tender, the topping didn't overwhelm the taste, and it was cooked to a perfect medium-rare. I've had a lot of chicken parm, and this was one of the best. All the pasta was cooked to a nice al dente, and all the sauces were flavorful, and not at all salty, which I consider one mark of a skilled chef. Other treats were the soft, crusty bread served with a really good garlic paste, and the Caesar Salad, not the "original", but superb in its own right. The wines were wonderful, especially the Malbec, and very righteous pours, too. A most excellent dining experience! And it was tremendously enhanced by Michael R., one of those servers who is never hovering around, but always shows up about two seconds after you need him. Despite being busy, and a few special requests, everything came out perfectly...well cooked, hot and fresh...professional service in all respects. My heritage is Italian. I learned to cook Italian from my Mom and Nanna. I put myself through college cooking Italian food in an Italian restaurant owned by Italians. I don't eat Italian food much when I go out because my own is so very, very good...I know good Italian. Il Mito is great Italian!More

The Linguini Dinner was excellent and my wife ordered the Pesto with shrimp and scallops with GF pasta which she said was some of the best pasta she ever had. I would diffenitly recommend this for a short drive out of Milwaukee.

I always enjoy Il Mito. On our recent visit I must admit a duck special was done a little too much for my taste, but the flavors were wonderful. The service is always excellent, Sunday brunches are a joy and dinners are never ordinary.

If this restaurant were in in New York it would be on the front page of all the local magazines. You’d have to go a long way to find a restaurant with the charm and the quality of food that is offered at IL Mito....The other amazing thing is diners enjoy all of this for Milwaukee prices! If you’ve never gone....GO! You’ll wonder what took you so long.More

Our server was attentive and personable. The cheese platter was a good start to our meal. All of our entrees were exceptional. Each was as described on the menu. There was a very tasty fish special. One favorite was the beef with horseradish. The seafood...was cooked just right. Vesuvio was a little underseasoned. Dessert was creamy and decadent! It was a little echoing where we sat but that did not stop us from laughing and having a great visit with friends.More

Il Mito is an Italian-American style restaurant. Food was marginal, with over cooked pasta on all dishes and way too much garlic on everything. Service was average. Certainly a long way from being an authentic Italian restaurant.

Loved the rustic feel, good service, and well-presented entrees. Sea food in one pasta dish could have been more fresh, but the sauce was tasty.

Visited for our sons birthday. Very accommodating on the phone to set up reservations, but that was it for friendly customer service. Food is quite good- was impressed with lasagna. Some dishes were a miss (seafood surprisingly was a big disappointment), but overall no complaints....Service? Odd mix of feeling rushed and ignored at the same time. The server assistant was far friendlier that our waiter who seemed impatient that we were a family celebrating a milestone. He was absent when we looked for him, and seemed in a hurry to get us ordering and to get our still populated plates away. Another disappointment was that even though we mentioned both on the phone and at the bistro that we had an 18th birthday, there wasn’t a word nor anything even pseudo special. Most places (even high end) serve up a gratis dessert with a smile and a congratulations- nada here. The personal touch at such a neat little place with mostly wonderful dishes left a taste in our mouths that soured the otherwise tasty meals.More

The restaurant has an outstanding feeling to it, nicely decorated with outstanding service. The waiters are very friendly. The whole dining experience feels great from the moment you walk in. Honestly though, the food is just average. The salad did not have much flavor, and...neither did the chicken. I did have a nice experience, it's just that the food did not taste great. It was bland.More

We celebrated a birthday with our family with dinner at Il Mito. The menu had something to please each of our tastes. Food was well prepared with reasonable portions. House wines were good and reasonably priced. It seemed very busy for a Thursday night and...service was friendly but a bit slow. There is a small bar area alongside the dining area. We vowed to return to try the Brunch.More
