Slow to start out when we arrived. But once we were helped was good from there. Our group ordered some pasta dishes alfredo And manicotti. We also ordered a pizza. Bread, salad and soup came with the dinner entrees. One of the salads we received...the lettuce was brown and wilted. We had to send back. Waitress was able to bring out a new one. Soup was tasty. Serving portions for pasta dishes were huge! You could definitely share the manicotti with 2-3 people. The alfredo could probably feed 4! Pizza was enough to feed 6+ people. Enjoyed the pizza, except I wish they'd use fresh mushrooms. The sauce on the pizza was very tasty. Although our waitress was busy with other tables, she was attentive and got everything we needed when she could. I wish I remembered her name. But she was very friendly and did a great job! Pros Huge portions Cons No kids menu or kid friendly cups $$More

We had a mixed meal tonight. We arrived and found what we expected, an old-school, family-run restaurant. They have a long history back to 1965 and I was looking to enjoy some true Italian food. The atmosphere is old, not fancy at all, and we...were ok with that. They have an extensive menu, pasta, seafood, veal, pizza, etc. I often eat pasta with seafood, but decided tonight to order a 12" small pizza with the toppings I like. My family hates anchovies, and I like them, so I never get to order them. A "true" Italian restaurant like this should have them and they did! My wife wasn't as hungry and ordered a cup of soup and salad, I just ordered the pizza. When she got the soup, she told me it was good and it was! Italian Sausage soup. So good, I called the waitress back and ordered a cup for myself. Good choice! Well seasoned, flavorful without being overpowering, just right. Well, it is a good thing I ordered soup because it would be 35 min before my pizza came. The waitress was nowhere to be found (We discovered later she had a massive table elsewhere, so she forgot us). When the pizza came, it was lukewarm, and some of the toppings were cold. The mushrooms were cold! At the same time the owner stopped by to ask how things were, and I told her. The waitress was defensive that it wasn't her fault but I didn't care, it was cold! The owner went on to explain how she hired a driver but needed him as a cook, and some other non-sequiturs who had no bearing on my cold pizza. It came back out, this time hot, and it was good. Not great, but very good. Then we are done, but no waitress! Wait another 15 min and stood up to get a box for the remaining pizza. The waitress comes by and sees someone else has brought a box, notices she hasn't been very responsive and offers to get our bill ASAP. 10 more minutes and I stand up to find her. She forgot to get us the bill. She runs around and gives us the bill. This is not a young girl, this is a middle-aged woman, (most of the servers are) and I assume very experienced. Was it because she had the other massive table? Perhaps the owner, who would have talked to us for a long time if we let her, spent 15 min talking to the table behind us, should do less talking and help out the massive table? The place wasn't busy, at least not in the restaurant, so I don't understand why the food took so long, and why the service was so poor. The food was good, but poor service really brought the rating down.More

This is an affordable Italian restaurant that has a nice homey feel to it and gives feelings of nostalgia when walking in the door. Trendoid it is not. It's just a decent place to get a decent consistent and affordable Italian meal. Recommended.

Order 99 percent of my Pizza’s from here. Best pizza I ever had. Sauce has a touch of sweetness but not overbearing. Thicker crust which is awesome. Had other pizzas throughout the state and never found a comparable one

Looking for a good new pizza experience, my friend who lives in the area recommended Filipinos. Since we live about 25 minutes away, we ordered our pizza par-baked and uncut. We finished cooking it in our oven at home and it was delicious! Plenty of...toppings, love the sausage! The sauce was a bit on the sweet side but still very good. My pet peeve is not enough sauce on a pizza, not the case here. Plenty of sauce! I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a great thin crust pizza, I will return!More

We went there for my birthday. Really good food! Everything is made in-house including the soup! No pre-made/packaged food. Friendly service (a bit slow) but really friendly!

Ordered Filippo's on a friday night and wanted delivery which they said would take an hour+. Pizzas arrived in 40 minutes, that's great service! Their cheese garlic bread is thick cut Italian bread with generous amounts of cheese and delicious. Their pizzas have a great...house crust which is a little thicker, it is excellent. They also offer a thin crust, but we prefer the thicker. Toppings were plentiful and they use a sweeter pizza sauce that is excellent. Great overall meal!More

My wife and I have been to Filippo's several times with our son and daughter-in-law. We're from out of state and are always on the look-out for great places to eat. Filippo's is without a doubt the best Italian restaurant we've found. On my first...visit I had the lasagna which was exceptional. My wife is very picky about alfredo sauce and she asked to sample it before she ordered and they were happy to comply. Turns out the sauce is the best she's ever had. I'm now hooked on the Spiedini A La Siciliano. The portions are huge so there is always some to take home and enjoy the next day. The members of the staff are friendly and efficient. Filippo's has become a must stop whenever we visit.More

Don't go to dinner for convenience sake. Instead, take a little drive to the near south side on Lincoln Ave and experience, in my opinion, is the best Italian food, period! When is the last time you have fried eggplant that was perfectly cooked? At...Filippo's, they make it all from scratch and by hand. You would have to point me to another establishment that can do it better. Forget about that trendy NYC pizza joint in Brookfield...Filippo's pizza crust is better, especially the regular. Yeasty. A little thicker that their thin crust. Awesome! If pepperoni is your deal, they use nickel size slices and the flavor...well, just try it. I don't eat pepperoni and I loved it. For large parties, reserve their back room. We just had an anniversary party with 15 adults and 5 kids. Our server, Pam, was the best! Everyone ordered off the menu and there wasn't much talking when the food arrived as ordered...too busy eating. Other than the best lasagna around, which I enjoyed, the topper was cannelloni customized with alfredo sauce. Check it out and make your way to Filippo's. You will be sending me a thank you note!More

Went here on a Sunday night with wife and father-in-law. We were seated immediately. There were a few families with children there and a larger group. Our server was prompt in getting our order, but didn't ask us if we wanted anything to drink. I...had the Bocconcini A la Romano, wife and father-in-law had pasta dishes. Food came out in a reasonable time, was good but not great. We might visit again.More

We came about Filippo's by default. The first Italian restaurant we chose was closed on Sunday. What a chance of fate. The food was delicious, the portions more than you could ask for, and our server, Amy was a delight. I will definitely be back...and will recommend Filippo's to friends and family.More
