We had dinner at the Gateway Lodge on Saturday Prime Rib night. We ordered the "king" potion to share. The server was attentive and timely. The margaritas were flavorful and full strength. 😳 Salad good. And the prime rib was cooked to our order. And was enough for both of us. The kitchen divided the meal before bringing to the... More

I have been visiting the Land of Lakes area for over 50 years. When I was a young man, the Gateway was the place to go. Over the years this grand old establishment has fallen on hard times. With multiple owners and bankruptcy a part of it's history the Gateway seemed tired. We ate there during a recent visit to... More

We used to live in Phelps, WI, a very short distance from Land 'O Lakes(formerly Stateline, WI). I took flying lessons at the Gateway's airport. I learned to SCUBA dive at the pool. Pres. Eisenhauer used to vacation there. It was built perhaps a hundred years ago, by an insurance magnate from Chicago and was known as King's Gateway. In... More

Stayed at the lodge on business and took in the prime rib dinner on Saturday night. Perfectly prepared, very prompt and pleasant service. Excellent spirits and wine selection. All in all, a magnificent experience.

The Gateway Lodge is stunning with it's log cabin cathedral ceilings. The waitstaff and hostess were very pleasant also. The menu had a good selection with reasonable prices. We even splurged for dessert! The front desk worker knew lots of history about the Lodge and even gave us a tour of one of the suites. Check it out for yourself!

Beautiful dining room. Great and friendly waitress. The Friday AUCE fish fry for $13.00 is a great deal with good food.

The Gateway lodge restaurant was very nice and food was decent. Service was good as well. The whole place is really a throwback to another time. Very cool to visit, just remember this is basically the wilderness or cottage country up here so the rooms at the lodge will not be high end. This is a nice place for families... More

I love this place. I get the impression that they've had some management changes, but are definitely improving. I can't wait to go back next June for a vacation vs. business trip. I highly recommend the Duck and the Shrimp Boil. I do wish we could have eaten in the bar, and I wish they were open for breakfast and... More

It's great the the Gateway Lodge has been able to keep their impressive northwoods dining room open for dinner after numerous management changes. The food is good, the atmosphere is special, But nothing is memorable. Give it a try for yourself.

We eat here often since it's such a grand old place. The dinning room is really a neat Northwoods treasure. The food is always good. Even great if you get the beef or fish choices. We've never been disappointed here.
