The year was 1943, and Jim and Alice Wimmer decided to take a big risk, buying a small existing roadside restaurant known for its char-broiled steaks. How fitting that in 2018, the restaurant's 75th anniversary year, the third generation of Wimmers, Amy Wimmer, takes the helm from her father Jeff and his wife Jane, bringing her own adventurous spirit to the Del-Bar, the same kind of spirit she so admired in her grandparents. Rich History • 75 Years & 3 Generations • Award Winning Cuisine While flattering comparisons to steakhouses in Chicago and New York are regularly made by visitors, Amy Wimmer still cherishes this restaurant, her family restaurant, as one-of-a-kind.

We went to Del-Bar for happy hour. We walked into the bar and sat down. The wait person told us the appetizers were slightly smaller and we would get 25% off our total bill. We ordered cocktails and wine along with appetizers. Some people in...our party were given 20% off on the hard liquor drinks only. The bill for two of us drinking wine in the party was $217, but sadly no discount was given. We would have ordered differently if we had been accurately informed. The food we had was good, the setting is nice, The wine list is good with generally decent wine prices. We would be hesitant to return to this restaurant.More

We visited Del-Bar for the first time in celebration of our anniversary- everything was stellar! Excellent communication and coordination between bartender, hostess and waitress (Cheryl). As we were seated, we were greeted with glasses of champagne and well-wishes. My husband had stuffed mushrooms and I...had baked French onion soup for appetizers- both delicious. Our steaks (filets) were done to perfection. Good salad, crispy hash browns and yummy rolls. Wish we would have had room for an ice cream drink or dessert! Can't wait to come back.More

It's a good place to eat; a wide variety of food; service is good. The walleye was good. Worth checking it out. Make sure to get a reservation.

Made dinner reservations online, 6 pm, easy. You can call too. Seated immediately, busy already. Jessie was our server, outstanding service. Lizbeth also assisted, outstanding as well. Ordered 8 oz filet with lobster tail add on, cooked to perfection. Added bernaise sauce. My son order...20 oz bone in ribeye with bone marrow butter ,AMAZING. Ordered a craft beer, spotted cow. Ordered the flour less chocolate cake for dessert to share. So good that we ordered another piece, yummy. Portion was normal size. Never had it before, but Jessie said their version was excellent. Truly recommend if you want an excellent steak dinner with outstanding service. 5 star restaurant. Will definitely come back when visiting the Dells.More

My wife and I went to dinner with another couple. The bar and restaurant has a really great atmosphere. We had drinks and appetizers at the bar. Our bartender was Mary, and she was awesome. She made the drinks great, talked with us, and the...appetizers came out very quickly. When we sat down for dinner our waitress Renee was really great too. I had a ribeye with the bone marrow butter and it was excellent. All the other dinners were excellent also. Its a little pricier, but I would highly recommend this place to anyone!More

We made reservations for dinner and arrived early to enjoy appetizers and drinks with another couple. The bartender, Mary, was awesome! She was very friendly and we never had to wait for a drink. Our multiple appetizers arrived quickly and all were wonderful. We then...were seated at our table and the excellent service continued with our waitress, Renee. She was so attentive and efficient. The timing of our courses was perfect and again we never had to wait for drinks. The entire experience exceeded our expectations.More

We decided to drive 45 miles to the Del Bar on a friend’s recommendation. During Covid, we weren’t sure if we would eat there or take it out, but arrived at 4:30pm so social distancing was easy. They spread diners among their multiple dining areas...(on 2 tables seated in our area.). FYI - when we left at 5:35pm, the dining areas were still spread out, but the bar was packed and not somewhere I would have stayed. The food was outstanding from bread to salads to soup to fish Fry. We would definitely drive that far again!! The only disappointments: Cocktails were on the high end ($7 for Captain & Coke and $9 for Old Fashioned) and when my husband didn’t want a salad the server asked if he wanted to sub in soup without mentioning the up charge. The soup was excellent, but not necessary.More

Jeans casual, not sweatpants casual. I’ve seen customers in dress pants and coats too; so you’ve got wiggle room in what you can wear.
