We ate here because we were staying in the hotel, Cobblestone Inn. The food and service was amazing. My sister and I keep talking about the meal we had and want to go back!
I figured, last day of vacation, go out with a bang and that is what I did. I ordered their rib eye which was a top 5 steak I have ever had by top restaurants. My sister and Paul ordered the charcuterie board and they loved it. They also ordered the fig and honey fried goat cheese with a mixed berry coulis. We all shared our food and what I had on the board was amazing. I will post pictures so you can see it.

Wissota Steakhouse is located on the main floor of the new Cobblestone Hotel. Expertly decorated and visually appealing. Service was excellent as well as the food. We sampled small plates to share among a party of four and the portions were very generous. Will be back in warm weather to try the outdoor patio that is on the river.

My wife and I loved our time at the Chop House this evening. Our server was Cara (pronounced Kaaahhra 😉 ) and the service and food was perfect. Cara was fun and made us laugh several times, the food was spot on! A great evening overall.
We had the Lobster Bisque, Scallops, Baby Carrots and Garlic Mashed Potatoes and finished it with raspberry Tiramisu.
We had nothing bad to say about any of it. Perfect night! Will definitely go back.

Dinner on Friday night. Check in at podium, 3 people standing there, no one greets us. Ask for table and seated. Ordered cocktails, diet Coke flat, no garnish in drink. Server friendly and efficient. Ordered bacon, delish. Two thick bacon strips served on wooden plank.
Ordered caprese salad. Way over dressed, drowning in balsamic vinegar and oil. Fresh Mozzarella very nice. Ordered ribeye steak and two lobster tails. Lobster cooked nicely. Asked for drawn butter and received two. Ribeye served sans steak knife which was needed, steak very tough. Not overcooked just tough meat. $150.00 for four drinks, two bacon strips, soggy salad, yummy lobster tails and the worst overpriced steak I've ever been served. I'm not opposed to this price point for dinner if the food is good, sadly, it was not.

The true rating is negative stars! My husband and I were looking forward to this night out. Unfortunately, this was possibly the worst dining experience we've ever had, primarily due to the service. For a place that markets itself as high quality and upscale, our waiter did not come close to meeting that mark. Likely, because we received service from the bartender. He appeared completely untrained to provide table service. He was awkward and acted like he had never worked in the restaurant area before, making our entire evening awkward and uncomfortable. We had to repeatedly ask for utensils because he did not bring enough for our soup, salad, or dessert. He did not refill our water glasses throughout the entire meal. He left used, dirty dishes on the table throughout the meal and these really piled up because we ordered several courses. At the very end, after dessert, he asked us if he could take some of the dishes but did not pick them up and instead asked us to hand him each piece. Halfway through our main course while we were still obviously eating and enjoying our meal, he asked us if he could bring some take home boxes for us. This was very poor timing and made us feel rushed even though there was only one other table at the restaurant. Every time he spoke to us, took our orders, etc he stood so far away from the table that we almost had to shout to have him hear us and we struggled to hear him. Our bill came to over $250+. I am fine with that in a fine dining establishment and have paid that many times at other places. However, the significant difference is that in those other restaurants, we've received impeccable service that is in proportion to that cost. We absolutely did not receive that and the entire evening was ruined because of the untrained staff and poor table service. The food was okay but overpriced for the main portions. The salad and sides were better in quality and taste. I did write two messages to notify the manager of this experience and received no response. I was not asking for anything except acknowledgement that the messages were received. Again, this is not customer service acceptable for this level of fine dining.

My wife and I were here to celebrate our birthdays. We ordered the Sea Bass and rib eye and split both, with a side a whipped potatoes. All 3 were wonderful, tasty and cooked perfectly. They gave us a mountain of tiramisu for dessert that we could not finish. We don't treat ourselves to an expensive meal too often, so we want to make sure it is a great one...this one was perfect!

It is difficult for any restaurant to live up to expectations. In this case, however, the experience was so comically poor, I had to write. The only item on my table more disappointing than my steak was my wife's sea bass selection. My steak was served a perfect medium well. Unfortunately, I had ordered medium rare. The accompanied mushrooms and onions were soggy and cold. The sea bass was reveled only when moving the accompanied tab of butter. A portion befitting a buffet, not an upscale restaurant. The drinks were good. The vegetable sides and appetizer were excellent. Our server was very attentive and accommodating. Management was made aware of the problems with our meal by our server. Unfortunately, the manager didn't think our disappointing meal was worth their attention.

Happy Hour 4-6pm M-Sat
1/2 off Sharables. These are great generous portions of so called appetizers I'd call meals. From steak Flatbread to sautéed calamari.
High end food at regular hours for higher end prices but you can get an $18 hamburgers that is chopped steak and made to satisfy a large appetite with fries and lettuce greens.
You got to try it!

We ordered delivery from Wissota Chophouse. It was a special meal, so we were willing to pay more. Everything was very expensive. We ended up ordering several appetizers and smaller meals to share. We were disappointed to find out after ordering that several items were not available. Had we known, we would have ordered different items, but we weren't given the option. They just adjusted our order without notice. Not a single meal was worth what we paid. It was regular bar food at an outrageous price. The calamari was poorly cooked and completely cold. Truffle fries were bland and soggy. The charcouterie was basic. The soup could have been from a can. We were not at all impressed.

It was our 15th anniversary so we splurged. Had the wedge blue cheese salad, crab cakes, bone in ribeye, lobster and whipped loaded potatoes. Everything was delicious! Wait staff was great too!
Outside patio has heaters and a gorgeous waterfront view.
Got a little crowded for my comfort level with covid and all. I wasn’t seated 6 feet from the next table/person.

THIS is the Top Restaurant in Janesville. We come here every couple of weeks and ALL the food and service is top-notch. From the Pork Chop and Scallops (Dinners) to Crab cakes to Scrimp to the Alligator Bites to desserts. everything is unique. This is a classy place with high-end liquor. Having a Basil Hayden Manhattan is an excellent choice because they use Carpano Antique (Sweet) Vermouth.

Went here a couple times, the first time with the Rolls-Royce Owners Club, We were treated very well and ALL the food and drinks were great. Seems like everyone wanted to have more of the Alligator appetizer (it was excellent). No, not the cheapest place in Janesville, but a very Classy one. If you are expecting cheap typical Bar food, this is NOT the place to go. We have gone here several times since and it always has been a high-end place.

Had a great dinner with friends. Food was excellent. Everybody’s steaks were cooked perfectly. Good size portions. Excellent beer and wine selections. Outstanding service! Will definitely be back.

Dined here a couple of times when visiting family in Janesville...French onion soup was a bit bland, in my view, hamburgers were good, served with truffle fries...service was good
Haven't tried their steak offerings but the prices seem to be quite high for what I would not consider it to be a high end steakhouse. Just a quick view of the menu, an Angus steak dinner for 2 would easily come to $200.00, with drinks, a couple of sides to share and 20% tip, and if you go for some of their higher grades of beef, it'd be $300+...not what you'd expect to pay for dinner for 2 in an average hotel in Janesville, Wisconsin...
