$200 for 2 people is worth it... if it's worth it. This place is dirty. The wallpaper is peeling from the walls, there are fingerprints and dust on every surface, the potatoes have a filmy crust on them, the dessert is sour and spoiled. The...glassware is chipped (my husband cut his lip but the bar tab was still $40). Our server was amazing but unfortunately we will never be back because this place is disgusting. Cheetah print carpet and black pleather chairs. It must have been nice in the late 80's and the owners decided to ride that wave of success into 2024. If you don't mind scraping the bottom of your standards barrel simply because there aren't many places to eat in Wisconsin then this place is for you. What a sad little joke of a house turned restaurant.More

It has been several years since we have been to Johnny Manhattan’s. It was a very pleasant surprise to see the changes made. They now have an outdoor patio for dining. Our wait person was so nice. She was very attentive to our needs, and...very professional, and with a smile. Food was excellent, service was excellent, atmosphere was excellent. At the end of our meal, she surprised us with a complimentary dessert because she had inquired upon our arrival to the table if we were there for a special occasion. We certainly felt appreciated, and will definitely be back.More

Went for my husband's yearly birthday. He ordered Veal Johnny. Food was cold and veal was tough. My fish fry was good but french fries were salty and soggy. We ordered coffee and it was cold. We sat on the beautiful patio but flies we're...all over us and our table the entire time.More

This restaurant is way overrated for sure . Ordered fillet. Waitress suggested medium . However came out well done . $60.00 for a tough filet ? Cheesy potatoes with no flavor ? Forget it . Won’t be back !

Went on a Friday evening, 4:45 pm reservation, ordered clam chowder soup and a house salad, plus a Diet Coke, 2 other tables were seated 15-20 minutes after we were, they had their appetizers before we did, and it took us 37 minutes for a...bowl of soup and a house salad, we also ordered a pizza, which theirs are really good, we got that at 5:42, not quite an hour later, when we left, I mentioned we’d been there 2 other times in the last month or so, and we hadn’t had to wait that long for stuff, I was then addressed by the owner, who seemed a bit “put back” by my inquiry, and asked me to explain, so I’m mentioned everything and told her our pizza took almost an hour, she looked on a monitor and stated, “ that’s not what this says”, she then said we were only there for 1-1/4 hours and dinner for 2 normally is around 2 hours! For soup, salad and a pizza?!?! Maybe we didn’t spend enough money to be treated like “real customers” Sad part is, we love their food, it’s great, but now we may rethink our Friday night dinner plans!!!More

I've not reviewed JM in a while. We re-run our dinners here often. We like it. Patio dining this past summer was excellent - it's about service, ambiance and food - in that order. Greeted with smiles. Opentable reservations are always a plus. This is...a very nicely decorated restaurant that is well maintained. It's not aged and run down as happens to many places. It's clean. Staff is well groomed, clean and in clean well fitting uniforms. It's an image thing. Beverages are generally done well - if you want a strong drink you have to ask for it and then perhaps you pay for that - understandable. Wine pours are decent too, Menu selections are great. Prices from a few years ago are up - but so is everything. This restaurant understands its niche. Rather than dumb down menu items, reducing quality, etc to save money - they raise their prices as the marketplace demands because they recognize that we patronize them for the value they offer. This isn't a chain restaurant this is a carefully managed business. They are busy - always - because customers are willing to pay for quality. In other words 'they get it'. Years ago if I remember correctly the owner would seat you and ask to take your coats for you to the coat room - it detracts from the ambiance to have coats scattered around I liked that. This isn't the sort of place you wear a Tshirt to. Okay so what don't I like? I miss white linen tablecloths - they added elegance in a very easy way. It's a step up from their peer group. I'd be willing to pay yet a bit more to see that come back. Also, when you ask a server to provide separate checks for couples there is a reason we ask that. In our case the couple we were with were ordering lesser price items. I was prepared to order an appetizer along with a more pricey menu item. I'm not going to do 'the math' to split a check. If I have to do the math I get the tip. Instead I'm forced to skip the appetizer and dumb down my menu price item. You make less money. If you can't do separate checks then at least offer to do the math on the back of the check in handwriting. Now either you get this or you don't. It's not a show stopper from going there - but most every restaurant will do separate checks. And that's why most people ask for separate checks - being cheap has nothing to do with it.More

Went there on a Thursday night with 8 people. Everything from the cleanliness, service, and most importantly the food was top notch! The size and quality of their fillet mignon was unbelievable. Cocktails and appetizers were also great. The cheese curds were light and fluffy....Can’t wait to go back!More

Off the beaten trail, this place is a great reminder of joy in dining out. We were welcomed some Sinatra as well walked in from the parking lot. A heated vestibule (our visit was a typical WI January evening) to shake off the brrrr. Warmth...and a little nostalgia greets you as you meet with the hostess. Beautiful double horseshoe bar w/ generous wood and lighting. A large fireplace helps anchor a charming eating area. There was evening a table of 6 off to one corner with a small chandelier, perfect for a small family gathering. The menu covers all wants and price points. You can have an excellent pizza to share up to prime cuts of steak (40-75 depending on cut of meat). The cocktails were well done and perfectly boozy. I did enjoy the escargot app (you don’t see it offered too much anymore). After this visit, I am coming back with more family to enjoy another WI evening at one of the best venues in the areaMore

On Friday, November 12th, my wife and I and our best friends went to Johnny M's to celebrate my birthday and their wedding anniversary of 42 years. Yes, we are all over 60! We started with drinks at the bar and found the bartender to...be very personable, quick and fun. After a few drinks our table was ready - actually aa little earlier than our reservation. We got to sit at the owner's "breakfast table" in the corner of the dining room near the fireplace. It was super comfortable! Our waitress was excellent and attentive. After our appetizers of fried cheese curds (simply amazing!) we ordered our main entree. My wife had the salmon, I had the fish & chips, our friends had the fish & chips and the ribeye steak. All of the food came out perfectly prepared and of excellent quality. Restaurants in Wisconsin are known for their Friday night fish-fry's and Johnny M's didn't disappoint with our orders of fish and chips. The beer-battered cod was awesome! My wife moaned with almost every bite of her salmon and my friend's wife thoroughly enjoyed the rib-eye. After more conversation we asked our attendant to take a group picture of us by the fireplace. She happily took our picture. Bottomline, we had a great time with each other catching up on family goings-on all the while having an excellent meal in an amazing atmosphere.More
