Great WI Dive Bar!

We enjoyed stopping into this “divey” local bar right on the corner of Main Street. It was a Sunday and was pretty slow, but can imagine it’s the place to be on a weekend throughout the year. Loved the taxidermy lining the wall. It was a fun atmosphere.

The locals hangout

This bar hasn't changed in the 50 years my family has been coming to Hayward. Literally. If you like dive(ish) local bars packed with character (and characters) this is the place for you. 10/10 recommend for friendly chat and cold beer in a one of a kind bar.

Memorial Day Weekend

Interesting animals all around the bar. Place to check out when in Hayward. Bartender was the same one on Friday and Sunday. She was very nice. Husband said she made a good drink. I had beer. Note: Cash bar only.

Cool local bar - world record musky!!

You have to stop here for a few drinks, and to experience the animals scattered throughout the bar. The world record musky is displayed here.. (look it up for yourself). This is definitely a local's bar but seems to attract a fair amount of out of towners as well. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. I would definitely return.

Great drinks, cheap prices very clean great Bartender !

Always a stop with the new friends in town, couple pitchers of beer and try out the Mystery shots. Place is amazingly clean.

Great Visit!

What a clean bar! They even wipe down the fan blades! And the dioramas are cobweb free, a step up from the Fresh Water Fish Hall of Fame. We stopped for a bloody and enjoyed every minute of our stop. The Badger game was on and you could hear the game! The Bloody Mary was great and came at a great price. Bar tender was friendly and atmosphere was inviting. Stop by you won’t regret it.

Interesting interior that`s for sure

Full of stuffed animals and mounts, some doing cartoon activities like playing cards......there is plenty to gander at when having a cold one. I am a "bloody mary" guy, and I found their`s to be very average and nothing to stand up and shout about. Who ever makes their mix must not drink them. The beer selection is average also, with a few craft beers thrown in for good measure. The drinks are OK, and the prices are what you would expect in a resort town. The mounts are really why you would bother going there in my opinion. The servers are friendly, and I found the customers the same way. It`s one of those places most would stop at once in a while for a switch in taverns.

Must visit!!

This was the first place I wanted to go to after getting unpacked at the motel. Walked 3 blocks and felt right at home when I went thru the door. Very clean,beer was cold and great atmosphere!! Muskies,Pike,walleye and other mounts all over the place. See if you can find the mice playing dice.

The most unique bar ever!!!

I found this prior to our trip to Hayward and knew immediately that we had to go; stop in for cheap drinks, or just to gaze at the animal displays! Impossible to miss, it is a green building right on the corner. And don't forget your camera!

Unique Local Landmark

In a world of generic offerings, The Moccasin Bar absolutely represents the region where it sits. Museum-like displays of taxidermied animals dressed in a variety of outfits and engaged in human activities with either delight or disgust you. I found it outlandish and wonderful. A stiff pour, a cold beer, engaging locals, pool tables and postcards! What is not to love!

This bar is a must see in Hayward. Besides meeting friendly locals, the place is decorated with stuffed (taxidermy) animals that are fascinating and amusing to look at. It's an old place, been around for many years and id definitely worth a stop.

Beer stop

This is a good beer stop with plenty of decorations to explore. Bartenders were good and the beer was cold. It’s a good pub stop.

Moccasin Bar is a historic "must see"

It is fun to go into the Moccasin for a drink with family & friends to see the awesome taxidermy displays. It really is a must see but it is a typical "bar" so it is not a family friendly place for little ones.

Historic Bar with sightseeing Galore

Loved the Moccasin! Great casual atmosphere. Design of bar perfect for large and small groups. Lots of woodwork and large bar area. Most people stop by to see all the taxidermists dream of animals, fish and birds. Can’t forget the worlds largest musky! The Bloody Mary was tasty! I like the bowls of shelled peanuts you can nibble on. A must stop if coming thru Hayward!

Girls outing. Fantastic bartender that went above and beyond. He called the owner to see if he could serve us a unopened bottle of wine they had leftover from an event as they don't normally serve wine. He certainly didn't have to do that and we appreciated it. He also wrote down a list of local cab companies and their numbers for us when we were getting ready to leave. Our drunks were reasonable and the bar has quite an unusual selection of taxidermy to check out. We'll be back again next time we are in the area.
