This place is worth the drive from Chicago! Do we have many good restaurants in The Windy City? Yes, of course. Do we have anything quite like The Union House? No. The Union House is your old-style supper club which has, regretfully, become harder and...More

We started at the bar, as everyone does in WI. The selection is amazing, bars in downtown Chicago or Milwaukee would be jealous of the whiskey they have behind the bar. Our dinner was great, we had the Kangaroo for an appetizer, who would have...More

It had been several years since my last visit to the Union House, and I don't know why I waited so long. The food is always excellent, with the main courses prepared in an interesting way and outstanding complements to each entrée. I found it...More

Really great customer service both in bar and restaurant. Unfortunately I can't remember their names, but the bartender and our server were married, both were really great. Food was delicious. It's a little spendy so for us it's not an every weekend kind of place...More

Haven't had such a great dining experience in years. Highly recommended. Excellent food, excellent service, fair price. No problem giving them a 5 star rating - it was a wonderful dinner.

The Union House is a family favorite. We went there recently for a Saturday evening dinner and again were very pleased with the food and service. In particular, I enjoyed trying their fresh arctic char, an evening special. I never had char before and found...More

The Union House features a fine dining experience; comfy, cozy and friendly. The menu is very broad, steaks @ $35.00 that you can almost cut with a butter knife, duck, shrimp, fish, wild game, etc. The bar is small but the drinks are very good....More

The majority of reviews are in the four to five star evaluations and I will agree with that. Excellent bar, appetizers, entres, and deserts. The ONLY negative that I must mention is that this smaller restaurant gets very LOUD when filled with diners. Conversations do...More

It has been 11 years since I been here (visited the area as I worked for a manufacturer located nearby). Was great then and still is. Curt and Patty still run it. Curt still has one the best scotch menus (163 at last count) and...More

Description
Since 1861 The Union House Hotel has maintained a prominent position within Genesee Depot. At that time Patrick Lynch, a 35 year old Irish immigrant, first opened the doors of this establishment to village residents and local visitors. No doubt these initial patrons found the impressive new hostelry, built in the 19th century’s fashionable Greek Revival architectural style, to be to their liking. As the largest public building in Genesee Depot, The Union House with its second story ballroom also functioned as a social gathering place for area families.

Due primarily to the influence of the Milwaukee and Mississippi Railroad, the settlement immediately thrived as an agricultural service center. Soon a grain elevator, woolen factory, general store, blacksmith shop, and post office joined with The Union House Hotel to comprise the major components of the local economy. While many of these local landmarks have succumbed to the ravages of time, The Union House continues to proudly serve as a tangible link to the community’s past.

Today, diners have the unique opportunity to experience the same warm hospitality, delectable meal offerings, and courteous service that Patrick Lynch provided his customers in this setting over 125 years ago.
