We had visited the area earlier in the year and were disappointed that we couldn't try the place since they don't have hours early in the week and are pretty limited on weekends. So this week, we made the point to drive the 160 miles...from home to eat here and took 6 other people with us. We originally spotted the place from the highway side and thought the magical dragon theme garden and outdoor dining area looked amazing. The main entrance is actually on the main street and is as close to authentic Irish pub as it can be. Inside the perfectly clean interior, the soaring ceiling is impressive as is the back bar and the decorating in general. As in Ireland, small little areas are set up to make it easy for groups to sit and converse. We had made a reservation and there was another party of 12 that showed up, but generally traffic was light for a Friday night in fish fry crazy Wisconsin. The bartenders talked our (initially) reluctant friends into trying the "Irish Old Fashioned" made with whiskey instead of brandy. The orange and cherry were properly muddled and everybody that tried one, had another. Great selection of Irish whiskey, Guiness of course and local brews that were declared by others to be excellent. We are on the ummm...senior side...and they moved a couple of tables together for us since we thought we would have trouble sitting on the higher stools at a round table. We ordered an appetizer platter (loved the leprechaun legs) and a seafood, cheese and artichoke dip with garlic toast rounds. All excellent. A couple folks opted for the fish fry and were very pleased. Bangers and mash were a great hit as was the steak pie. I have a dietary restriction in the amount of food I can take in at one time and instead of telling me to order an appetizer as many places have, they made me a miniature version of the shepherds pie that was excellent. Another person ordered the full size one and it was enormous. Afterwards there were a few pieces of Irish cheesecake and a drink called a Celtic Kiss as well as a few Dead Rabbit whiskeys enjoyed. After trading a few Irish language phrases and blessings with the culture aware staff we departed satisfied and happy. They do serve americanized irish things (like corned beef) if you must have that, but the Irish flavors they serve are excellent.More
