Stopped for breakfast one morning, our first time there. Breakfast was a decent price. Plates looked to have been setting on a counter for a while. Pancakes were kind of moisture affected but ok. Sausage was good. Coffee was ok and plentiful.
Stop in here whenever we are in town for breakfast. Can't go wrong as they have a lot to offer. The pricing is GREAT for the value. The restaurant is usually pretty quick with service and very friendly staff.
We stopped here with a large group, a little early for the normal supper hours. The restaurant was nearly empty and we were seated quickly. The group ordered a variety of food types, and while most of the group thought the food was "good", no...one went out of their way to say how really good something was. One person ordered the ham and cheese croissant, which is listed as coming with soup, but the waiter didn't ask what kind of soup she wanted, she had to ask him about it or I suspect she wouldn't have gotten any. The person who ordered an omelet was pleased with it, but I wouldn't have liked it as the outside egg was well browned and I don't like that. Pacing was kind of an issue, as one order was brought out a good 3 minutes before the other 7 started arriving. The double cheeseburger looked OK but had two large beef patties and just two slices of Kraft singles for cheese, I'd call it a burger with a little bit of cheese. The chicken dumpling soup was great and loaded with dunplings, but I was disappointed in my patty melt, it too was very light on cheese and had no Thousand Island sauce. A patty melt without Thousand Island is just a cheeseburger with fried onions on toast, but on the good side, it came with a huge pile of excellent french fries on the side. The restaurant is clean and comfortable, if showing its age a little. The food may not be spectacular, but the portions are large and the prices low, although I was disappointed to see I was charged for a soda pop refill, where most family style restaurants will include free refills, especially at the $2 price for a pop.More
We had the opportunity to visit the Oasis Family Restaurant on our way back from an up north visit. We have a few favorite restaurants in FDL, but this time decided to try something different. Family restaurants always have a wide variety of meals, and...no matter what one's preference, there's bound to be something that satisfies. I was impressed with Oasis' decor -- typical Greek family restaurant style, and extremely clean. Our server was attentive and checked back with us a couple of times. Oasis features a breakfast buffet; there is a huge buffet bar for hot and cold foods. Our server brought a bread basket to enjoy as our entrees were being prepared. I ordered the Greek Style Code with mashed potatoes and a side salad with Italian dressing. The salad was fresh and appeared to 'not' be bagged lettuce. If it was bagged, it certainly didn't have that strange taste that gives away 'bagged.' It was a nice sized salad with sliced tomato. The option with my dinner was soup or salad. I found after the meal that it also came with dessert. Unfortunately, Oasis doesn't offer a 'takeout' option, or I would certainly have taken the tapioca pudding. I was a bit miffed with the cod as I expected a tomato sauce rather than a lemon-based sauce. The cod, although somewhat dry around the edges, was fine on the inside and the lemon sauce was good. My dinner also came with a side of kernel corn. My husband ordered the Scalloped Potatoes with Ham (including a side salad with Thousand). We were both surprised by his entree - it was huge! He will be enjoying his 'to-go' leftovers for lunch one day this week! When I asked him how his meal was, he replied "Highly rated." If you're in the FDL area, Oasis is worth a stop and is now another tried and true venue for future visits.More
We found this restaurant by accident. Once inside, it was pleasingly decorated with palm trees. It was very busy. I learned soon that there is always a brunch buffet served on Saturdays and Sundays. We were seated quickly considering how many people were there. The...food was very good! Bathrooms were clean. Staff was very courteous and efficient. I would go back.More
