Good Food and Great Prices!

We were looking for a quick meal while staying in Fennimore and were directed to Friederick's Family Restaurant. Families filled the restaurant on a Friday night ... a good sign that food would be good and prices would be friendly. They definitely were! The waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was plentiful and delicious. Can't be that combo. When passing through Fennimore, we'll definitely be back.

Very friendly staff!

My fishing buddy and I enjoyed a very fine breakfast at Friedrick's this past Sunday. The eggs, veggie omelet and sides were well prepared and delicious. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was exceptional! Well done. We will be back!

Good Breakfast at a Good Price

This is located in a former train station so the building has a smattering of charm. My omelette was very tasty with fresh mushrooms and plenty of cheese. The service was a slow to refill our coffee and bring the check but once our order was in, things moved along quickly.

Raw fish served.

A week ago we had a very nice experience. Missed the FFD steak feed tonight so thought to go back to Friederick's. Husband misspoke re: beverage so kidos for waitress who fixed problem. Ordered catfish. It isn't fillets and that is noted on menu. But when served, batter nice, crisp and inside is still raw and one piece still cold, raw fish. Waitress apparently had no clue as to policy of restaurant when this is mentioned. Could not take it back to finish cooking it. And we're talking just fish stick size of pieces of fish. So we ate our salads and dinner rolls (cold) and the mashed potatoes and gravy. It did not register when I said I will take the fish home and finish cooking it myself that a take home container would be needed. Had to ask for that. Very unpleasant experience.

Home cooking !

If you like real home style food and friendly service I recommend this cafe ! The food was fresh and prepared like I would make at home . Prices are reasonable too ! Very good find for filling our bellies for a long road trip .

Bland to unspectacular food considering the price, not really rude but unfriendly staff.

I don't expect haute cuisine in a small town diner, however I expect friendly service and decent homemade food for a good price. While the waitress wasn't rude, she was quite indifferent and not really friendly. There is small menu and I opted for the 3 piece cod dinner. The fish was actually quite good but the pieces were closer to fish stick size than a typical filet. It came with a decent fresh green salad when we asked if any of the potato choices were prepared from scratch, the waitress deadpanned an apathetic "no". My wife had beef and mashed potatoes, in which everything in it appeared to be canned or processed, flavorless brown gravy, instant potatoes, white bread and thinly sliced processed beef which was closer to beef lunch meat (Buddig anyone?) than home roasted beef. It wasn't much different that a Banquet TV dinner. The prices were higher than expected from a diner (especially considering the quality). It was a solid disappointment. At least it was fairly speedy.

This was our first visit to Frederick's. We seated ourselves and were approached within 90 seconds to give us menus and to take our drink order. The balance of the table service was just as good. Our meals were delivered in a very reasonable amount of time and were served hot. The fish in their fish sandwich has a light batter, which I appreciate. The homemade chips were perfectly cooked and not salted. The side salad was served fresh, chilled and with the dressing on the side. The food was not prepared in any special way, but it was good "home cooking" faire and priced reasonably. Frederick's is worth a try.

We stopped in on our way through town. The waitress was very friendly. We ordered BLT baskets. Our food came pretty quick. The fries were good. The coleslaw was okay. The BLT came on super dark toast on the verge of being burnt in spots. The bacon must have been left over from the breakfast rush and had been reheated maybe? It was so over cooked it had no flavor. I can say I have never had a BLT that had no flavor until today. Too bad. We had read good reviews.

Great Value, Service and Amazing Root Beer Float

We had lunch. Chicken strips, BLT and the most amazing root beer float I have had since I was a teenager (I am 77 now). The meal was great and service by Stefanie was perfect. We tipped her generously as a result. She created the root beer float.

Very Good Food and Service

We were looking for a place to eat while driving through rural Wisconsin, and began worrying we might have to come up with a plan B, Well, we hit the jackpot upon entering Fennimore on Hwy 18 from the west. At the intersection of Hwy 61 we saw Friederick's Family Restaurant. This a cozy restaurant... It features the basic dinner style menu, but they cook it in a good-old home-style manner. They have specials each day. The food we had was excellent. I had the swiss burger...I added grilled onions and mushrooms. The hit for me though was when I found out they had coconut cream pie that evening!!! I had them box my home made potato chips so I could enjoy the pie...and I was not disappointed!! Service was very good and everyone working that evening were very friendly. The restaurant was clean. I really enjoyed looking at the historic photos of Fennimore hanging on the walls of the restaurant. I can certainly recommend you stop at Frederick's when you are in the area.

Great find

We needed a meal in the evening and were a bit concerned that although the OPEN sign was lit the notice said it closed at 8pm. In fact it closes 9pm and we arrived at 840pm. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Good Diner Food.

Stopped for breakfast while traveling. Ample menu, friendly service. Good food reasonable price. Roomy with plenty of booths and very clean.

Good food, great service

We stopped in here after touring the National Brewery Museum in Potosi. I ordered the Brute burger and a bowl of chili. I found the chili very, very good. The brute burger wasn't bad, either. Yes, as noted by another reviewer the menu is limited and the hours are hit and miss. I found the service good.

food is just adequate. Not a lot of selection, but you can get breakfast or lunch (sandwiches mostly). It is inexpensive.

Good comfort food

We stopped here for a late week dinner and were happy in our choices. The hot beef sandwich, mashed potatoes and gravy really hit the spot for my wife. One son had a steak dinner and the other spaghetti, both spoke highly of their meals. My turkey club was tasty. We topped off the meal with ice cream and pie. Yummy. We will be back.
