Got two fish fries: a perch and a cod. Both were fabulous. Fish was crisp and not soggy. Great food!

long wait for server, skimpy portions but price increases, fish fry soggy, no applesauce or bread loaf with fish fry.
New ownership hasn’t lived up to the fish fry of the past. Have tried 3 times in the last 3 months to get a fish fry similar to what was served a year ago. No success. Soggy French fries, tarter sauce or apple sauce not...included and baked fish presentation was lacking. Will be looking for another restaurant for a fish fry. Very disappointing.More
It is hard to disguise a good baked cod. I am sure that what they served was not cod as was a thinner, waxy fish more like one of those Chinese substitutes for tilapia or pollock. It also had an off aftertaste. The batter on...the fried "cod" was nice and crispy and, of course, hid the off flavor and texture. The fried onion rings were also good, although very greasy. The FF came with less than 2 tbsp of cole slaw. The bread was warm but had a very pale unappetizing crust. Service was fine. Probably the worst fish fry I've ever had.More
1st time visitor. Wanted to try a new place for ribs. 6pm on a Saturday night, not busy at all. Onion straws were excellent. My ribs were very average. No evidence of rib rub seasoning although served dry. Asked for barbecue sauce, it was very...bland. Slaw was good, smoked beans boring. My wife’s chicken strips were very good, Ceaser salad ok. Sams Octoberfest beer was highlight of meal for me. Outdoor dining area look very nice. That is a reason to come here. There are better choice. Try David Alan Alan’s. Pats ribs the best by far but very small unpretentious restaurant.More
My friend and I dined recently at the Silver Spur. The staff was pleasant and seated us on the patio, where we waited about 10-15 minutes for a waitperson to show up. My friend and I chose the brisket, since she’d had it before. The...food came out after a while, and the brisket was really dried out. We had to douse it with the sauce. The cole slaw was very good. The waitress returned and made no mention of dessert. I’d never been there before, and I doubt I’ll return.More
Bar is fine, decent beer selection, place was pretty slow. Ordered Pulled pork and brisket combo, with mashed potatoes. Meat Looks great coming out; but seriously lacks flavor. Brisket super tender tasted like pot roast. Even the BBQ sauce was bland. That being said -...should know better than ordering TX style BBQ in WI. Wouldn’t come back againMore
Been here before and had great food, not this time! I could see ribs were dry from across table. Husband said chicken/ribs had no seasoning. Burnt ends so greasy and stringy. Server was only good thing about meal, so friendly. Husband and I both thought...she’s too good at her job to work there! Too bad the kitchen staff don’t do their job as well.More
WE ordered carry out Brisket and Turkey. Both were so dry and over cooked it was almost not edible. The Turkey was Squares of some kind of nasty meat , it sure was not like ANY Turkey I EVER Ate!! The Brisket was so dry...and Tough I dont know how any Cook could turn that out!! It was a Complete waste of 40$. If you like BBQ , DO NOT GO HERE!!! ITS TERRIBLE!!!!More
We have gone to the Silver Spur for many years both at it's old location and at it's Elm Grove location. We've enjoyed their nachos many times. But, this time the meal was TERRIBLE. The chicken on the nachos was like powder. It was extremely...dry. When they tried to shred it, is crumbled and flaked. We showed it to the server who swept some off the table with her hands and took it to the kitchen to show the chef. She returned with a little bowl of chunked chicken. We tried that and it was chewy. The cheese was hard, sort of like when you try to melt low fat cheese. The server was trying extremely hard to make the food okay, even offering to have it redone. She finally just comped the meal. We paid for our beverages and tipped her on what the total would have been without the comp. There was a big clue that something must be wrong with the restaurant. We were the only ones in the dining room on a Wednesday evening. There were a few people in the bar but no one was eating.More
