I get up here exactly once a year and it is a real treat. There is magic to finding a place of this caliber in the middle of the puckerbrush of central Wisconsin. It's cute. Service is great. Drinks are creative and delish. Food is...varied, interesting and yummy. Ambiance is warm and effervescent. Go here and you feel like you fell through a looking-glass into a culinary wonderland. Really...a joyful dining experience!More

Often, stopping here 2009-18 ..whilst driving the casual hwy jj to west Manitowoc, treated selves. Okay food, we'd complimented owner...as Wife usually reviews, remembering details..particularly surprising there's over a hundred reviews.. Yet, 0 replies from property, disturbing they absolutely don't care to address constructive criticism?...Doubt they care, especially bumping reservations..signs they won't be able to make it. Owner's should care.. √ ..downtown's new Holla 717 0482, no hours, phone, yet, they reply?More

We have been to Al Corso a few times and have always enjoyed the meal and ambiance but based on this last visit we will not be back. We had made reservations for dinner here to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary ( which we let...them know about when the reservations were made). We were seated at the worst table in the restaurant, right next to the bar with a clear view of the door to the kitchen! When we were shown to our table by the owner we clearly stated the table was not to our liking but the owner was indifferent, almost to the point of being rude. After we said again that this was a special evening she said they don’t “micro manage” each reservation. It was obvious to us that this not a place to go to celebrate a special occasion because clearly they do not care. To top it off, not even a glass of champagne or a small dessert was offered to show they understood our disappointment and to make up for the bad table. Food was great but ambiance and service by the owner is not worth going back again for.More

Hidden off the beaten path in a very small tiwn, this restaurant was started by a chef from chicago and draws people from all over. Reservations requested since restaurant has limited tables. Great meal/appetizers/atmosphere ---be prepared to pay $$$.

I read an article in Facebook on hidden gems in Wisconsin. This was one and looked great so I made a reservation the day prior. We made the ride a bit of a road trip because Collins is not near anything. Got there early, was...greeted heartily and professionally by the staff. In fact, all members of the staff were excellent: prompt, cheerful, and interested. We were a bit early and the place was busy so we sat at the vintage bar and enjoyed cocktails. Once we were seated, we started with a Wisconsin tradition: haystack onion rings. On to our entrees: two of us had walleye, the other two halibut. The fish was well prepared and delicious. The sides and sauces were tasty. I especially enjoyed the chicken mulligawtanay soup. My wife had a very good cream of asparagus soup. And the others had French Onion. All were tasty. Deserts were expectedly chocolate based and the one we shared hit the spot. Strongly recommend Al Corso. Place is fairly small so be sure to have a reservation. Afterward walk out and experience the neon lights of Downtown Collins. (kidding)More

After hearing many great reviews of El Corso from various friends we finally decided to take the drive (which is about 50min for us) to go check it out. We made reservations online early in the day. We arrived and sat at the bar and...had a few cocktails before we were seated for our meal. Everything was spectacular. The service, the spacing of courses, the food, all top notch. Way better than a very expensive place (Five o clock club) in Milwaukee that we dined at the weekend prior. For an Appetizer we had the special which was called Crab Remmick which was a baked crab dip topped with parmesan, bacon, and scallions and served with toast points which were similar to a grilled flat bread. Super yummy. I had the baked French onion soup which was fantastic. For the main course, I had the braised lamb shank with asparagus risotto. The lady had rack of lamb, with Au Gratin potatoes and vegetable medley. Both were outstanding. Hard for me to choose which one I liked better. Depends on what kind of texture you like in the meat. For desert I had the baked chocolate pudding and she had the apple crisp. Nicely priced, good portions for the price and a great cozy atmosphere without being cramped and not rushed. They do it right and would compete with any place in any big city. A truly enjoyable experience and one in which we will continue to refer people to and definitely will be returning. Thanks El Corso for a great night of dining.More

My husband treated me to a wonderful dinner at Al Corso. We started with a couple of amazing cocktails and some warm crap dip. It was an amazing start to a extraordinary superb dinner (Beef Wellington for me and Ribeye with crab for my hubby)....We will definitely be back for any special occasion!!!More

Pre dinner cocktails from the Vintage Bar is a must! Nobody makes drinks using a shot glass to measure anymore but they should. Their Manhattan is superb! They have a lot of options on their menu as well as 'Added Entrees' so even picky people...should find something. We've always done several appetizers as well as dessert! The Beet/Brussel Sprout appetizer was phenomenal! The Chef is spot on with anything coming out of that kitchen! All Entrees come with your choice of Soup or Salad. I've never had French Onion Soup as good as what they make! Reservations are encouraged. Probably close to an hour drive for us but well worth the trip. Quaint building, close to a Marsh in the unincorporated village of Collins.More

From the pre-dinner cocktails to the dessert, this dinner was one for the books. It’s in an unincorporated village on the edge of a marsh (about 45 minutes northwest of Sheboygan). The space is an old bar that was purchased and refitted with 12 tables...to make a restaurant… they kept the vintage bar and stocked it with some terrific liquor—especially in the brown liquor (bourbon/whiskey) category. Everything they do is mind-blowingly on-the-mark. We got there 1-1/2 hours before our meal and used the time well…hint: follow the bartender’s advice. When it was time, we eased in to our seats under the twinkle lights and had one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. (My rack of lamb was like ‘butta’ and the valpolicella crema dessert was so good, it should be illegal.) Will we go back? Oh, yes…yes, we will.More

Truly casual. We often see people in good jeans and collared shirts, as well as sport coats and slacks for men and skirs and sweaters on women.
