Nice atmosphere, great service and good food. Our group of five ordered pasta, burgers and a fish fry. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Since we knew nothing about it prior to walking in we were pleasantly surprised and would go again if we are ever back...in the area.More

Of the four of us, we each ordered a different plate and everything was tasty plus the service was great!

I love the Anvil! A fantastic restaurant in a cute town! Whether you are a local or a visitor you'll always feel welcomed! The food is fantastic and John, the head chef, is 100% invested in preparing the best dish for the customer. Kudos to...the entire staff ~ we will always make this a stop when we are in town.More

Very old building turned into an interesting setting to eat. Small, well stocked bar with two floors of seating. I do not understand how we never ate here before. Great service. Great setting. Great food and great prices. Everything we had was wonderful. We highly...recommend trying a flat bread.More

This is one of the beautiful Christmas festival weekends in Cedarburg. We attempted to go to dinner tonight @ 8:42. The hostess would not seat us as “the kitchen was closing in a few minutes. We were shocked they turned us away.

Make your reservation this place is busy! Located on the river next to the winery! We had the spinach’s and artichoke appetizer and the clam chowder soup. These two things were delicious! I then got the sea bass, never had a sea bass I didn’t...like. This was ok… a bit over done and tasted fishy. The homemade drinks were good. They could improve the cleaning… dust the vents upstairs and upper ledges and the ceiling above the kitchen. Dust, cobwebs and dead flies not appealing. The floor slow felt greasy. Would tell other to try this place out but they business should take pride and do some deep cleaning!More

We were seated in a cramped spot behind the hostess stand, which gave us a wide view of the open kitchen. Our server rushed through the initial visit to our table all the while telling the kitchen she knew she had food up and to...stop paging her. Appetizers took 35 minutes to come out, and were just ok. We overheard the head chef yelling at the hostess and other kitchen staff. With an open kitchen, it’s really easy to pick up on things like this. It was not a relaxing vibe, and with the length of time for the apps, we decided not to order an actual meal. First time here though, and either they were super busy or short staffed, or both. I feel bad for the staff, but not sure we will be back.More

Really good food and attentive service. Our companion custimized her order and it came with attention to the details and met the request.. I had the short rib shepherds pie which was phenomenal. Another companion had the anvil sandwich and was really pleased. The flatbreads...and roasted sprout appetizers hit the spot, and beer and wine selection were excekkentMore

We had reservations for 2. We were greeted and seated right behind the hostess in a small 4 table area. Very noisy bar area that also acts as the serving station from the kitchen. The building was amazing and done up very nice to retain...the blacksmith feel. Waitress was very attentive and friendly. Why 3 stars???? The plates are a medium weight plastic and so light you have to hold it down to cut your food otherwise it spins. Silverware is the cheap bendable kind. I thought blacksmith shop heavy everything - the name is Anvil. Food was good but fish was undercooked on the thickest part. Lots of garlic mashed potatoes but vegs were a few thin slices of sautéed zucchini. No dessert option was given. It was good but over priced and not exactly relaxing. Bucket list place that we checked off our list.More

Service was ok. Not great. Food was also just ok; dry chicken, over cooked vegetables, overdone medium ordered burger. Duck was smothered in bbq sauce so it lost its identity. Overall meh.

Everything we've had here is fantastic. I highly recommended this restaurant, it's one of our favorites in the area. Whatever you order is always fantastic, but I always try to make sure we try the soup of the day. It's always different and interesting.

Our second time here for lunch. Loved it the first time (about 4 years ago) and loved it today. For being so incredibly busy with every table (that we could see) full, we were amazed at how quickly and efficiently our server handled our order,...kept refilling our water glasses, brought our wine, brought our soup, and brought our “forge” sandwiches with sides. Amazing. And the food was all excellent! Highly recommend the “forge” sandwiches, with break they forge on the premises. Old-timey atmosphere, but actually authentic.More

We reasonably hoped to have a nice dinner experience. Not so. With reservations, the Maitre ‘D had us wait while he answered the phone (not asking the caller to hold), then go check on “something”, then wouldn’t give us a menu, but instead we had...to use a QR reader to get a cryptic menu. That would have been ok, but everyone else around us had a hard copy (preferred) menu and people seated after us were served ahead of us. My wife added ketchup to the salmon and veggies. I’ve never seen her do that, truly…. Maybe, it was her Chardonnay, which she liked. “Choice of potato” was limited to fries or garlic mashed. My wife asked for double veggies over the potato. She got about 1.2 veggie portions, one slice of green pepper, and about 8 slices zucchini. She’s 90 lbs, extra small, petite, so she wasn’t too underserved. I’m writing this in good humor and will end here, although I have more criticisms. However, Tina our waitress was making the best of the situation. I kind of felt bad for her. She was very personable and professional. Thank you.More

There were kids there when we went, but it does have a “pub” atmosphere. So I guess it depends on the age of the child and what you’re looking for in a restaurant experience.
