Traveling asa Vegan and an Omnivore can be tough. No trouble finding great food for both of us here! We had the Wisconsin burger and the veggie burger with fries and onion rings - delicious!

Everything we've had here is fantastic. I highly recommended this restaurant, it's one of our favorites in the area. Whatever you order is always fantastic, but I always try to make sure we try the soup of the day. It's always different and interesting.
Visited for lunch around 2pm on a Saturday. Very busy but sat at our reservation time. Our lunch was served promptly and was delicious.
Our second time here for lunch. Loved it the first time (about 4 years ago) and loved it today. For being so incredibly busy with every table (that we could see) full, we were amazed at how quickly and efficiently our server handled our order,...kept refilling our water glasses, brought our wine, brought our soup, and brought our “forge” sandwiches with sides. Amazing. And the food was all excellent! Highly recommend the “forge” sandwiches, with break they forge on the premises. Old-timey atmosphere, but actually authentic.More
We reasonably hoped to have a nice dinner experience. Not so. With reservations, the Maitre ‘D had us wait while he answered the phone (not asking the caller to hold), then go check on “something”, then wouldn’t give us a menu, but instead we had...to use a QR reader to get a cryptic menu. That would have been ok, but everyone else around us had a hard copy (preferred) menu and people seated after us were served ahead of us. My wife added ketchup to the salmon and veggies. I’ve never seen her do that, truly…. Maybe, it was her Chardonnay, which she liked. “Choice of potato” was limited to fries or garlic mashed. My wife asked for double veggies over the potato. She got about 1.2 veggie portions, one slice of green pepper, and about 8 slices zucchini. She’s 90 lbs, extra small, petite, so she wasn’t too underserved. I’m writing this in good humor and will end here, although I have more criticisms. However, Tina our waitress was making the best of the situation. I kind of felt bad for her. She was very personable and professional. Thank you.More
Pretty location along the river with plenty of outdoor seating. Service was decent on a Saturday night and our server was attentive. Drinks were good. Sadly my entree was very bland - no sauce or glaze or even a sprig of herb or lemon wedge...with the salmon, and the accompanying squash had not been seasoned at all. The salmon was cooked perfectly but needed something. I know they have an optional cherry glaze but for those who don't like cherry flavor I guess you're out of luck. The garlic mashed potatoes were good. I would come back but order a different entree next time.More
The food is not bad, but the service can be iffy. My husband and I both got a burger, that was good but fairly similar to what any of the chains provide. The best part about the experience was the seating along the river!
We stopped for lunch, having done so often when passing through Cedarburg. This might be the last time for stopping here, however. While we sat out back and thoroughly enjoyed the view, the sound of the passing water and the landscaping, the food was mediocre...at best. An anemic Cedarburg Salad with a small piece of salmon at $15 was overpriced, though the greens (about all there was to the salad) were crispy and fresh. The Chicken Club is billed on the menu as a sandwich but is served in pita bread. Not the worst, but not what I expected. For an added $1.25, the onions were a waste. I'm a fan of this restaurant's french fries and I thought I'd try the onion rings. Mistake! All in all, unlike past visits to the Anvil, this was, despite a nice ambience, an insatisfying experience.More
The forged blacksmith steak sandwich is a perfect balance of mushroom, onion, blue cheese and horseradish mayo...a solid 10 out of 10. One in the parry had the lake perch Friday fish special, 3 large fillets and also very, very good. This place is challenged...for parking and the upstairs is probably the only "good" tables for a party of 4 or six....service ws great, wife had a burger - disappointed they couldn't offer a gf bun.More
Delious lunch. Great staff..unfortunately due to weather outside patio wasn't open. Beautiful waterfall outside
We visited Cedarburg for the weekend and I must say we were not disappointed coming here. The appetizer of cheese bread was very good. It was made perfectly as well as the drinks. Once we moved to our table, one of the waitstaff from another...table accidentally broke a glass on our table. I didn't feel comfortable eating the rest of the meal but they showed urgency in getting our order taken care of and even offered a free dessert (which was awesome) to make up for the broken glass at our table. Our waitress Felicia was worth her weight in gold and I'd have no problem recommending the place to anyone stopping in Cedarburg for the first time. It's a little pricey however it's Cedarburg so that's expected. If money is no issue and you like decent food, stop here. You won't regret itMore
Server was friendly and helpful. Restaurant was clean - fun atmosphere! Food was delicious! We will be back!
This is a really interesting place however our service and quality of food was not worth the price we paid. 30-minutes after we ordered we were told they were having an issue with their computers. Not sure if that was true as the other side...of the restaurant served by a different waitress was getting their food. What should have been a 45 Thank you to me lunch was double that. When we finally got our food it was meh. Pre made hamburger patty and very greasy. Wouldn’t recommend.More
Anvil has a lovely location on the river, where the tables are well-spaced. While not gourmet, the food is good, the wine list has enough of a selection to please everyone. The staff is courteous and it is very relaxing.
Elegant and beautiful outdoor patio along the river under tall trees. Wonderful for couples or family meals. We each tried a different lunch sandwich, and all were excellent. Strongly recommended for outdoor dining. All wait staff wore masks at all times, although patrons less so....Still, in the airy outdoor setting we felt safe. Would definitely go back for dinner sometime.More
