For a small wisconsin town. This is Iconic and a Gem. Great service , Great food. Friendly
atmosphere!! Highly recommend , even if your just passing through. Great family enviroment , snow mobiling or summer time fun. Dont miss this one!
Do not miss this culinary treat in little Boulder Junction, WI! When I looked at its extensive menu, I wondered if they could pull off the duck special, the stuffed salmon, as well as the more standard north-woods fare. After the three of us sampled...three main courses, the baked French onion soup, and finally the ice cream finale, well, there was no false advertising here--marvelous all around. Three previous trips and we've blown by George's Pub for the usual weekend food choices; no more. Treat yourselves. And, the chef wanders around and really listens to his customers.More
My husband and I stopped here to grab something to eat while driving through Boulder Junction. We opted for George's Pub because it had good reviews online and they have a desireable menu, unfortunately, our visit left something to be desired.
It's a nice atmosphere,...the prices are reasonable, and the menu has a lot of good options. We opted to order just starters: pickle fries, brat bites, and the giant pretzels. The food was just meh. According to the menu, the brat bites are supposed to be breaded and deep-fried, but all we go was cut up pieces of a brat. The remaining options we had weren't anything to write home about. They sounded good but poor execution.
The man who took our order (maybe the owner) and got our drinks was very friendly and did a great job. Unfortunately, he had a younger guy who waited on us the remaining time and he was horrible. I even felt the man seemed frustrated with him. He wasn't attentive. He didn't listen at all and seemed extremely forgetful.
Honestly, it just wasn't a good experience and we wouldn't stop here again. :/More
We stopped by for lunch when the Packers happened to be playing. We sat and watched the game and had lunch. I had a hamburger and fries and my husband had their grilled cheese. Both were excellent!! We spoke to the owner and he said...he wanted an 'adult' version of a grilled cheese. It is loaded with 3 types of cheese and my husband raved about it! The owner told us the history of the place - nice guy! We would definitely stop by again when in the area.More
Best lake perch dinner that I can remember! The 1/2 pound option was only 2 fillets, but were they ever big and fat! I had to ask to be sure it wasn't the walleye.
We also love George's pizza. Very thin crust and a tangy...sauce. Priced reasonably too.
Angela is a very friendly and helpful bartender/server. Mike (not George) the owner is also very pleasant behind the bar.
The haystack deep fried onions are fantastic! Deep fried pickle spears also a winner!More
We are from Texas and love to visit the Boulder Junction,WI area in the fall. We visited a new bar called George’s for their Friday Night Fish Fry. My husband is a connoisseur of Walleye and could not pass this up. It was SOOO GOOD,...cooked to perfection. We came back in for their Sunday Bloody Mary Bar. It’s a meal in itself😃
Not sure if I can get my husband back to Texas. If you haven’t visited George’s you should. Nice relaxed place to get a drink with great food plus the owners personally meet and greet you, a nice touch.More
The owners are a friendly couple that are trying hard. The use of a computerized ordering system seems to play havoc on getting the orders right. In July there was a group of seven, 5 of 7 orders weren't correct. A few weeks later, two...of us returned for sandwiches. After waiting 45 minutes, the food arrived cold and not as ordered. This establishment is in it's first year. Hopefully improvements will come with experience.More
We stopped here for dinner on a Friday. We opted for the walleye/perch fish fry for two. The perch was excellent. The walleye was undercooked—middle was still cold. Waitress had a new piece made which was cooked perfectly. The sides were underwhelming—mediocre French fries, Wonder-type...rye bread, cold baked beans, and coleslaw. Fish fry seemed overpriced for what it was. Our waitress was responsive—service was good. Overall, we would not eat here again.More
