Loved the incorporation of windows that they open in the summer. Perfect to watch people go by. No noisy TVs or loud conversations. Finally! Just a relaxing occasion to celebrate my parents 52nd anniversary. They even gave a complimentary dessert because of the occasion. We...didn't ask for one but I am always impressed when staff go above the norm. Food was fantastic! Some had steak, one had the pea/carrot lasagna that we tried a bite of. It was unique and delicious. I had the scallops and they were perfect. We shared the fondue. A smokey flavor to the cheese. The only thing we didn't use on the platter was the onions. Otherwise we declared the fondue a success. The whole evening a success!More

My daughter had been to Velvet Buffalo once before and thought the food was pretty good, so we went back with her for a special occasion. Unfortunately, this time the experience was not the same. Atmoshere and service was good, but the dinners were horrible...and overpriced! The appetizers were ok, and the dessert was fine, but the dinners were NOT! Ala carte and small portion sizes. Two of us ordered the "seared" scallops and risotto. 3 soggy and small scallops on a bed of undercooked slightly crunchy risotto. The other two got the special of sausage and pasta. The sausage was dry, and the pasta was gummy. I felt terrible that my daughter's boyfriend picked up ( I'm sure) a very large bill and didn't let us help to pay for it. Go to the rooftop for a drink and then somewhere else for dinner!More

Velvet Buffalo is a fun restaurant. The food was delicious, and the staff was very attentive. Reasonable prices for the quality of food. The highlight of my meal was the bread — make sure to get seconds!

This is truly a hidden gem. Very sophisticated dishes and lovely ambiance. We stopped on a whim during a cross country road trip and we were amazed by the food. We’ve eaten in many outstanding restaurants across the globe and this food was up there...with some of the best. We even timed another road trip around a stay in Beloit so we could eat here again.More

We stopped at this restaurant on a whim because of its unusual name. What a glorious date night experience! Exceptionally delicious food in a quiet romantic candlelit setting.

The roasted chicken was perfect. My wife had the lasagna which I heard was great. Service was quick and the waiter knew the menu forward and backwards.

There's nothing I can say bad about the food or the prices what turn does off was that attitude of the bartender for one thing the fact that they turned away people over and over with tables open what kind of business model turns away...Revenue and cost the waitresses waiters tips as well never even bothered to ask you if you wanted to go up to the Rooftop Bar where service was outstanding the food was outstanding unless they change the management style at that this restaurant I will never go back and I tell you other restaurants at is not true they got problems cuz of the style ofMore

I would normally give a 4 star review, since there was a kitchen mistake. I didn't get my meal when my husband did, because somehow the order was missed. Kind of a big mistake, however, they truly made it up to us a few times...over. They recognized the mistake, owned it, fixed it, did not charge us for the item and threw in another freebie as well. We felt we were compensated, and the rest of the experience was fantastic! All in-house made pizzas, sauces, crusts, salads, desserts, etc were absolutely to die for! Very nice wine list and special whiskeys available. We had a great conversation with the general manager who was super nice and accommodating. Makes me wish we lived nearby to experience the Velvet Buffalo again! We were just passing through on vacation but may just have to make Beloit a planned stop in the future. It was that good!More

We had pizza and muscles both were pretty good. This restaurant is in the lobby of Hotel Goodwin, so it was convenient for us as guests of the hotel.

Lovely restaurant and excellent service. We went because we were staying at Hotel Goodwin, making this a convenient and cozy place for a birthday dinner. The homemade pasta was excellent. I had the lamb ragout with rye pasta -- a combination that worked for a...gamey, comforting winter taste. My husband had pasta with local mushrooms which was good, but not stand-out. Definitely recommend.More

Quiet, because most of time half-empty. No wonder: Chi-chi "adventure" food, served very slowly by surly wait-staff. Expensive: lunch for two, no drink and shared dishes: $60.00.

We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of our meal in a town as small as Beloit. Our party of four sharp several small plates and appetizers as well as two flatbread pizzas. We also shared a pumpkin cheesecake. Drinks were well made. Service was...excellent. Food was creative and made with quality ingredients. Highly recommend.More
