My husband & I were out for a drive while visiting Madison for the holiday weekend, and we decided to look up where to eat as we approached Baraboo. I had sausage or something grilled on my mind. We found the very highly rated Cheeze Factory at the top of the list on here, and so we decided to stop in. What a smart move!
Even though it was the middle of the afternoon, there were a handful of customers, which was nice. We were greeted with big, warm, welcoming smiles, and we checked out the menu. We had a really hard time deciding, but we narrowed it down to the linguini with "meat" sauce, a stuffed veggie quesadilla, and the corn chowder.
Everything was mind-blowingly good. Neither of us are vegan, and we do like our share of unhealthy things... though we strive to eat clean and fresh most of the time. The Cheeze Factory hits the mark on all counts. All three dishes were fresh, flavorful, complex, and all around really really good. We overheard another customer asking for something that wasn't vegan and who maybe wasn't even familiar with vegan food... and when she got her order, she, too, was praising the server (or owner?) about how good her entree was.
The corn chowder was chock full of fresh veggies and good spices. The linguini was rich and yet still light. The garlic bread - spectacular. And our quesadilla had so many good beans and veggies in it. There was so much umami going on in all this food. I only wish I could have a vegan place this good near me at home.
If you're in or near Baraboo, you really should dine here. You will be very very happy with your decision.

Long story short: If you are vegan or vegetarian, don't miss the Cheeze Factory! We stayed in the Dells, but I'm vegan, which is very hard to accommodate in the dells unless you just want a salad at every meal (which i definitely don't) . Found this place via a Google search and am so thankful I did! We stayed Monday thru Thursday. The Cheeze Factory is not open Monday or Tuesday, so I impatiently waited till Wednesday to go over and order a few meals to take back to the condo. I ordered the soup & sandwich, a Deli-cious sandwich, Mediterranean pasta, Bangalore, chocolate espresso pie, and some truffles. Let's just say I was a very happy girl the rest of the trip. The sandwiches were absolutely epic, and the pasta was so incredible and satisfying. The truffles made me so happy since I was drooling over all the fudge I kept seeing in the dells that was obviously not vegan. These people are so talented with seasoning their dishes and cooking everything to perfection. This place will be my first stop every time we are in the dells from now on!

I had the fortune to visit this restaurant, and now I consider it one of my favorite places to eat plant-based meals. My wife and I ended up at the Cheeze factory without planning it, and what a pleasant surprise we had. After a day of climbing at the lake, we were in search of healthy and tasty food, so we could not be luckier to discover this gem. Not only the food is terrific, also the service was exceptional. I highly recommend this place, even if you are not vegetarian/vegan.

You don’t have to be vegan to fall in love with this place. We were sent her by a local and thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered from the black bean chili soup to our entrees and dessert. Service was also excellent. Can’t wait to return the next time we come to town.

I have been a vegetarian (of the ovolacto variety) since 1965. Eating out is a bit of a mine field. Is there lard in the beans? Is there chicken fat in the soup? Do they sneak bacon bits in their fillings? Are foods fried in animal fat?
Okay, you get my drift. Our dear friend told us about this legendary vegan restaurant in Baraboo. So it was a must visit for us. Immediately greeted and shown a nice table by a very friendly wait person with a cool European accent.
So nice to know everything on the menu is 'safe". My wife ordered coffee, which came with a small carafe of vegan (fooled my wife) cream. She told me the coffee was really good. Split pea and vegetable soup (no ham) and a cheeze and veggie sandwich for both of us, please.
Sometimes I find vegan food lacking in flavor and texture. Here, however, we found our food to be really really delicious. The sandwich was a perfect compliment to the soup. The soup was a perfect compliment to the sandwich.
Our waiter kept my wife in coffee throughout our meal. Excellent service!
For dessert we were recommended a cashew chocolate Expresso cake. It blew our minds, so creamy and flavorful.
Bottom line, you don't have be a vegan to enjoy this place. The food and service are top notch. For those who avoid animal products this place is for you.

Not being vegan ourselves, but after reading others reviews, we decided to give this place a try. So glad we did. The food was really very good. I had the spaghetti and "meat sauce" parmesan, my husband had the grilled veggie flatbread sandwich (he loved it!). Not sure what was in the "meat" sauce (!), but it was very tasty. We chose to take ours out and they had a table for pickup right in the front. Would definitely go there again.

Two of us are vegan, one is a vegetarian, so we were duty bound to try as many things on the menu as possible. It Was All Great. Not a subpar item in the bunch. We had an appetizer, entrees, drinks, and dessert. Hearty portions, flavorful, lip-smacking goodness, friendly service, and mid-range prices that make this well worth visiting again and again. It's places like these that make me understand that restaurants CAN go vegan and not give up anything at all. I've read the other reviews listed here and they are correct. If you're not vegan or vegetarian, you will still love the food served here. And if you ARE vegan or vegetarian, you will have the meal that will make you love the fact you are who you are.

What a find! The food was fantastic, but somehow the service was even better. Nearly every table was filled during our visit and the two people working there seemed genuinely happy. I recommend coming hungry (perhaps after a good hike at Devils Lake) and trying the Key Lime Pie! Everything is 100% vegan and they have gluten sensitive options!

When we were in the area about 15 years ago, we ate at this then vegetarian restaurant. It is now vegan and in a smaller, intimate setting. Food is still excellent. Seating is limited as are the hours it is open. Our best meal in the Dells and we are neither vegan nor vegetarian.

We’re on a long family road trip and wanted something different. We stopped in and were blown away by the service and food. We enjoyed our meals so much that we purchased their cookbook on our way out.
It’s a quiet and cozy place. If you’re in the area, definitely go by. If you’re not in the area, definable worth a drive. We’re not vegan but it’s one of the best meals we’ve had. Even our picky kiddos loved their meals.

Excellent vegan food - very tasty, and lots of variety. Gluten sensitive choices, too! Yay :) incredible service. A nice surprise in a small town near the Wisconsin Dells. Highly recommended.

Wow! Wow! Wow! The reviews really all true for quality, novelty (to a predominately vegetarian but not exclusively vegetarian and certainly not vegan). Likely the best restaurant in a region of culinary mediocrity (restaurants in Baraboo excluded). Bulls eye in our own quality and variety target for dining out. Wish we had something like this at home.

Yum! My first full vegan menu…such a treat! My husband isn’t vegan and we always find it challenging eating out together. We both loved our food! I had the portabella sandwich (gf) & chips & salsa. Also the Italian caffe float. All delicious! Everything sounded so good, it was hard to choose. Will definitely go back!
I wrote the above before trying the truffles I took to go. Best truffles I’ve ever had! I believe they were chocolate almond. Still dreaming of them! 😋

Super, yummy plant based food and baked goods in bright, clean establishment with excellent service. My boyfriend is a meat lover and really enjoyed his sandwich. I had the “sausage” flatbread and it was super good. Great smoothies as well! Can’t wait to try our desserts we got to go, they look amazing! Highly recommend!
