Had a good experience at Chives - both of us enjoyed the seafood that we ordered. Our waiter mentioned that everything is made to order, so food may arrive slower than it would at other restaurants…he was correct, as it was a two-hour meal for...us. If you have some patience, it’s worth visiting Chives. Nice wine and cocktail selection as well.More

Great evening out. Good food, wine & service. Hubby had the filet & I had the Grouper which was a special. We shared starters of wontons , peach & tomato salad with Goat cheese. We were too full for dessert but they all sounded amazing.

Good food and the staff was amazing. Little higher end place than we typically go to, but they were still willing to serve us food as we arrived late in town due to storms & took great care of us. Thank you.

We had a good dinner here, but the food was over priced, fairly standard fair--at least relative to other, more creative restaurants in the area. I would have liked to have seen a few lighter items on the menu and certainly some creative use of...vegetables for a farm to table restaurant. Real problem was overall service. Everyone was nice and professional, but 30 min for water, 45 for drinks, 1 hr 25 for bread and butter and 1 hr 30 for food is unacceptable. I get it there is a labor shortage, but at some point the restaurant needs to stop booking. Instead I felt our server was continually pushing us to buy more alcohol so we wouldn't notice the unacceptable wait. Go down the street, lots of good options in Baileys Harbor.More

Exceptional menu, well trained staff, great location. Escargot, steak frites and beef cheeks were wonderful including the potato and vegetables. Bread and garlic chive butter to die for. Desserts are worth it. Not a negative thing to say.

I hadn't really planned dinner on our last night in town, but after an amazing meal at Trixie's I wanted it to be just as special. I got lucky and snagged a table at Chives for dinner. The restaurant itself is nice and open with...some vintage touches like the stamped ceiling panels. It has more rustic and modern touches too like the parts oars peppered around the place and nice bar. There's even a small semi private space that can house 6-8 right off the kitchen. Our table faced the street and have us a view of the water. We started out with the Chives trio, chicken wontons, smoked salmon and crab cake. I gave my husband the wontons and enjoyed the other two items. The crab cakes were just as I prefer them, heavy on the crab, light on filler and not overdone. The smoked salmon was tasty too. We also got a basket of warm bread with an amazing garlicky chive butter. For our mains, he got the beef cheeks and I got the grilled gulf shrimp. Not eating red meat, I take him at his word and he said his meal was great. Mine was pretty good too. I enjoyed the gentle spiciness of the harissa against the broccolini and shrimp. There was also what I'm assuming was pureed chickpea under the broccolini and a few whole chickpeas dotting the plate. For dessert we shared the cherry almond bounce cake. I liked, but didn't love the dessert. I felt like there was a lot going on with the cake, more than expected from the description. Overall, this was a fantastic meal and a great way to end our stay in Door County.More

This is a great place for fine dining, catching a quick bite, having drinks with the friends or family, etc. This is a great establishment and you will see the owner JR walking around checking in on everyone they are satisfied with their meals and...service. Definite place to stop when traveling. And say hi to Johnny (one of the cooks) when you stop by!More

Our last night in Door County, we opted for "fine dining" at Chives. They had a pork chop on the menu that we both ordered but first we shared some raw Malpeque oysters and the escargots with a puff pastry top. they also brought bread...and herb butter that hd chopped chives in it (natch). Despite a warning that it was very hot, I was overeager and burned my tongue but good on the escargots. It didn't stop me from enjoying my meal though. The chop was ginormous but also succulent, served on a bed of creamy polenta that was delicious, with some baby turnips and braised greens that I assume were turnip greens though I didn't ask; they were quite sweet and also very tasty. We shared a banana cream puff for dessert. Everything was delicious and we enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommended.More

Amazing food and a casual atmosphere. After discovering the great brick oven pizza and cocktails, we went 3 days in a row. Dinner was fabulous and service was always with a smile. Definitely our new favorite DC restaurant!
