The 19th-century charm of this historical hotel and restaurant is very hard to beat. Very comfortable, relaxing ambience. Beautiful surroundings, nice soothing, music (recorded jazz and live solo guitar while we were there, both very pleasant). The service was also excellent, even extraordinary. We arrived about a half hour before they actually began seating people for dinner. They offered us... More

This place is so beautiful and historic. They have amazing staff and an amazing breakfast buffet. The food was awesome. Can't say enough about this place. Very good for business meetings and special occasions.

The food we experienced was so far from a good meal that I wonder at the source of other reviews. The food was uniformly cool to lukewarm. My overall impression was that the items we chose were previously frozen & nuked for service. The designer drink list was composed of very sweet combinations. I tried the Lavendar Dream & Tequila... Dear LLDearness, Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with us. The Blennerhassett Hotel takes all comments seriously and uses them as training examples for our management and staff. As I read into your critique, it seems that we may have had a service issue as well. Our servers are taught to check back between each course... More

I always enjoy my visits to Spats. This time was a surprise visit - my boyfriend and I were hoping to enjoy the opening night of the Parkersburg Brewing Company up the street. However, there was an extensive wait, so we wandered on down to Spats instead and had a fantastic meal there instead. We started out with kettle chips... More

Located in the lovely, old Blennerhassett Hotel, Spats is wonderful place for lunch when traveling down I77. Only a few minutes off the highway, this delightful restaurant offers excellent food, lovely atmosphere, and good service. Steps above highway eateries and worth the detour!

The menu offered imteresting selections. I made a meal of the small plate poutine and cheese board, and I enjoyed them both. My wife chose crab-stuffed peppers and a salmon entree that were equally excellent.

Like the hotel itself, the restaurant/bar is an historical place maintaining its traditional charm. The décor is traditional - dark woods, plush leather padding on the furniture, soft colors on the walls, art work reminiscent of the New Yorker magazine. You get the feeling that you're at one of the classic New York emporiums. Service is excellent, the drinks are... More

My wife and I spent the night at the Blennerhassett Hotel and had dinner in Spats on a Saturday evening to celebrate my wife's birthday. We've stayed and dined before and enjoyed it. This time was not very enjoyable. Server was very nice but not very attentive. Water glasses were constantly empty, no bread plates for dinner rolls, no steak... More

I occasionally eat at Spats while entertaining for clients or on business. The meals are top-notch, and the restaurant has an extensive wine listing with knowledgeable staff to help with your selection. The outside patio is a great place to have your meal in nicer weather and the wood paneling inside gives a warm ambience reflective of the hotel's age... More
