"My favorite restaurant ever! anywhere!" heard daily...music to our ears. We take the extra effort to get local vegetables, eggs and meat as well as flowers; to serve sashimi grade tuna, a rustic pork shank, lobster pasta; fresh daily pastries from West Virginia's best baker; locally made artisan bread; extra virgin olive oil, great wine list, candlelight etc! all pays off. We don't cut corners and our fellow foodies recognize this and honor us with their presence. Reservations advised or willingness to wait in line.

Stopped in on a Monday evening without a reservation and were seated immediately. This is an intimate establishment with few tables, so a reservation may be needed during peak times. The service was friendly and prompt, and I enjoyed the local burger in all its unwieldiness, though I found that the truffled potatoes lacked flavor. The cheesecake was a refreshing, if slightly oversweet, way to cap off the meal. Lewisburg has several good restaurant options, but, of those that I have tried, Stardust Cafe tops the list.

Good casual dinner spot!

Stopped in here on a recommendation, it was worth it! Then we came back to do it again! First of all the tomato bisque is great, highly recommend. First night my wife had that and salad. I had that and the mango curry chicken (signature dish). The dish was good, but the sauce saved it because the chicken was overcooked, dry and tough. But sauce had great flavor. Second night soup again, of course! Wife had the charcuterie board, nice and even the small one is pretty big. I had the lamb burger, which came with a smashed (not mashed) potato. First comment is the chef needs to work on presentation, it needed some garnish to fill up space and make the plate look more attractive. But the burger was good, didn't have that bad lamb taste, but was obviously not beef. Potato was also good, but a bit dry, could have used more butter or something. Anyway, recommend despite the room for improvement. Nice atmosphere, decent food, good help! That's most of what you want, right?

Dill Sauce is Delicious

Reservations are recommended. It is on the small side and doesn’t have a large dining area. All of our dishes were excellent! My husband loved the salmon with dill sauce and peas!! You can see the cook from your seats which we thought was neat. Server was very attentive to our table and kept drinks refilled by giving us our own jar of water. It was a great place to go on a date night!

$$$ arrived and was asked if we had a reservation. No we didn’t. Was told they had no tables, mind u we had been traveling and had our travel clothes on. As we left someone stated that they just had a table come open and that the people just left. We were at the door no one passed us. The wait for food was way to long. I felt like they wanted you to fill up on wine before you ate. Food was edible but not worth the $70 that was charged. The waitress whom I would think was the owner was nice and polite.

Very poor service

We waited 30-40 minutes for food , which never arrived, because the cook was seated at a table visiting with friends . It took a long time for my husband to receive his drink because our waiter forgot about it. We finally canceled our order , paid for our drinks and left the restaurant. On the flip side, my fizzy wine drink was good.

Excessive wait, mediocre food and high price tag

So I realize this review is an anomaly since I use TA to pick things when we travel, but our experience was awful. This place is small. When we walked in, there were 4 tables seated, including two 6 tops, none with food (which I didn't notice at first). One of the waitresses greeted us & we sat down, ordered 2 cocktails and put in our food (which was 4 sandwiches) and waited... And waited... And waited... And waited. Took 15 minutes for the drinks and a staggering 40 for the sandwiches. And while we waited, I noticed that no other table had food. The table next to us was offered free dessert and received profuse apologies - we didn't even get a sorry it took so long. The BLT was mediocre at best with bacon crumbles that all fell out of the sandwich. The avocado toast had a whole 2 small slices of avocado perched on the toast. And the chicken on the other 2 sandwiches was dry. There was no offer to comp a drink, no effort to bring the table some chips or pasta salad while we waited, nothing. Absolutely not worth $100 for lunch. Huge disappointment

Eclectic eatery with relaxed vibe

Not a large place, but on the Tuesday for lunch, not a long wait for table. Streamlined menu of somewhat unusual, interesting choices. We had the avocado toast and Back to the Future bagel goat cheese sandwich. Avocado toast had a lot of pickled elements, perhaps could have been balanced a bit with something less acidic. The side of pasta salad was tasty. Asked what beverages there were and was given menu only for alcoholic ones. Wanted something fruity or citrusy non-alcoholic, and assumed there weren’t other choice, later saw things on other tables and wondered what they were. So tad disappointed with that. Overall, we enjoyed the lunch and good value.

Small Restaurant - Tasty Food!

Worked with us to find a time for a last minute reservation. Excellent food and great service. We had the curried chicken (we are generally not a fan of curry, but our server put the sauce on the side - and it was not overpowering at all) and the cod and lobster pasta. Yum! Also tried the chocolate torte - all excellent choices!

Good but not as great as usual

We have eaten at Stardust many times. Service was exceptional but the food seemed a little off. Monday night so maybe....Would love to see some different options in their menu-small plates, dinner salads etc. Love this place and for sure will go again!

Lunchtime Nirvana

We had no idea what we were doing and stumbled on this place while looking for a lunch spot on a long, hot drive to Virginia Beach. The vibe here is amazing. Great music, wine, service. We were blown away. The fish sandwich was literally the best fish sandwich (and possibly any sandwich) that I've had in my life. The pasta salad also seemed to be created by a culinary genius. What a find!

Small Town Delight

Stardust Cafe is a cozy farm to table delight. I think the burgers are the best in town with local meat from Swiftlevel Farm. I haven't had a bad meal here, in fact all meals have been delicious. The desserts are delicious too.

Very good, but very pricey

We ate at the Stardust Cafe our first night in Lewisburg. I honestly don’t remember what I ate, but I remember thinking the quality and quantity of food didn’t quite measure up to the price , although it was certainly good. The atmosphere is really pleasant and intimate, and our server was very pleasant. The whole just didn’t quite add up to the sum of the parts.

Served with great food, ambiance and a smile.

This is the first time I have been back to the Stardust Cafe in quite a while. Although the food is always good and the service pretty exceptional, we happened to go at the end of the lunch rush so it was more relaxed and quiet. Anna was also exceptional- attending to us from the moment we sat down until we left and in between - always with a cheerful smile.

A Must Visit

This was our first visit here and, wow, were we impressed with the food. It looks like the owners have embraced the quirkiness of the setting, and to great effect. My wife enjoyed the chicken curry dish, which was fairly mild in the spice department to my taste of a little of the sauce. The fruitiness was nice. I had the Pistachio’d Salmon, which was fantastic. Kudos to a chef who is willing to cook salmon to the diner’s request, and to do it to perfection. I found the grilled asparagus and cold avocado to be really interesting complements to the salmon.

Lunch last week

We had lunch at the Stardust Cafe last week. My husband had a BLT and I had a grilled chicken sandwich with pesto. The BLT came with pasta salad which my husband said was very good. I did not eat mine as I have food allergies and could not eat it. I was a little disappointed in the chicken sandwich. There was too much pesto on the sandwich and I thought the pesto was somewhat bitter. I did have a very good peach Italian soda to drink. I would go back again if I were in Lewisburg.
