We are staying at the Greenbrier but wanted to try something off the property and made a reservation at the Liberty, which is only a short drive away. We really liked the high ceilings and open feeling you get when you walked in. For dinner,...More

I have had the blessing of visiting the Greenbrier several times with friends, and we always include The Livery in our dinner plans during our stay. The food is excellent in a casual but upscale setting. Their twist on the Ceasar salad was one of...More

We recently had dinner at The Livery prior to a show at the GVT. We reserved via Opentable and were seated immediately. The menu wasn't too large but had a nice variety of meat and seafood. All of our food was fresh and well prepared....More

Stopped here for dinner on a Thursday evening at 5. Asked to sit outside since it was a beautiful evening. Waitress placed me beside the only couple out there and I mean BESIDE. As in sitting on the same bench, 18 inches from her elbow....More

Dinned here on the front pooch on a comfortable August evening. A really nice setting. We ate from the small plate menu. Corn and crab chowder, raw oysters, and risotto cake with lobster and a lobster/leek sauce were all excellent. Had the dessert sampler--highly recommend...More

We ate here our first night and found it a great introduction to the dining scene in Lewisburg. Friendly and efficient service. Nice atmosphere. Delicious crab cakes, and the chocolate dessert was rich and decadent.

Traveling through the mountains on I-64 east from Kentucky to Virginia, seeing few dining options beyond the usual chains at exits. So The Livery Tavern was a great find, especially as it was late and they accepted an 8:45 pm reservation for us. Our server...More

Attended a rehearsal dinner for family here, so the meal options were pre-set. The appetizer was amazing, and the salads, soups and meals were appreciated by all parties. Would love to return and try some other options on the menu. Nice atmosphere and good service,...More

Description
First and foremost, our family loves the town of Lewisburg; it's shops, people and rich history. Our family has been visiting Lewisburg since 2003 when we purchased Westwinds, a horse farm in western Virginia near Lake Moomaw. While we've enjoyed the several restaurants in town, we also felt the locals as well as tourists would welcome and support more restaurant options, and so far we've been right! Our family's first restaurant, Stella's, has been a hit since we opened in January, 2011. Stella's, named and inspired after our mom Alice Stella Hirt who passed away in 1985, is warm, welcoming and elegant, just like our mom was. Stella's has many feminine touches which were influenced by our mom and put into place by Tammy. Our newest restaurant, The Livery Tavern, on the other hand is a very masculine interpretation of a mid-1800's tavern, with an open beamed ceiling and a generous use of natural materials and earth tones both inside and out. The Livery has a full bar, privacy booth seating, outdoor patio seating and an extensive wine and port list. Our menu is a reflection of this same interpretation, with dishes including grilled venison, quail, lamb and local beef cuts like 2 inch bone-in rib eyes. The Livery is also fashioned with a unique military motif to honor our father Major General John B. Hirt USMC, who passed away in 2012. You'll find these military influences in our logo and other decorative treatments inside the restaurant.
