About
Huntington West virginia is also known by it’s nickname “Jewel City” as this is the moniker used by river boat captains of the past when describing the city to passengers. Huntington’s nickname is Jewel City because at one time it was the western terminus of the C&O railroad and was rich in goods and natural resoures. When the conditions were right on the river the steamboats would load and unload goods from the local ports and tranfer the goods up and down the Ohio river valley. At Jewel City Seafood all of our food is made to order. The fresh seafood is hand selected from our display case and either cut or portioned into serving size. It is prepared using one of our timeless cooking methods

We went there on a slow rainy Wednesday afternoon. The restaurant was clean and social distancing was practiced. I have mobility issues and unfortunately we were seated at the table furthest from the door. Our server was very nice and really took care of us....It was Veterans Day and a basic meal was complimentary of to veterans. I wanted a little more so I ordered a combination platter. My sides were perfect. I had red beans and rice. I also had parsleyed potatoes that were simply outstanding. My seafood platter was just OK. I'm not a big fan of fried seafood.all in all, a very good experience.More

This is a small seafood restaurant/retail establishment. It is definitely low key as far as ambiance is concerned but we liked it. It smells like seafood so if that offends you, take a hard pass. Our waitress was new. She was very sweet, and she...tried really hard so kudos to her. The merlot wine was surprisingly good so don't be afraid. They automatically bring you hush puppies with honey butter. They were delicious! We had the large steamed shrimp with collard greens and buttered red potatoes. The sides were pretty darn good. The large shrimp was considerably small by the time it was steamed. It was also overcooked so the shrimp was dry and chewy. That was really disappointing. We wanted seafood so we ate it anyway. They have a good price on the jumbo crab meat but sadly (for me) it is from Asia. So, if you are concerned about where they source the seafood definitely ask. We were just passing through so it is unlikely we would have the opportunity to return. Hint: We found that after 5:00 pm you don't have to pay for street parking.More

When I first came to Huntington five years ago, this is one of the first restaurants I visited. I was impressed then and that favorable opinion continues today. With a wide variety of seafood and sides I can always enjoy a different meal on each...visit. The staff is friendly, helpful, and attentive. The food is always perfect. I have nothing negative to say. All good.More

This location has great customer service. It is in a great location and has a nice selection of sea food. If you love seafood, it's best to ask the server for recommendations. My favorite was not the seafood. It was the fried green tomatoes. The...special sauce adds the right flavor.More

Great food! If you love seafood, don’t go anywhere else. The chain restaurants can’t begin to compare. Every entree I’ve had the pleasure to try has been delicious. I also bought fresh seafood from them for a fish fry and seafood boil I had for...a party of 30 people. With their help, everything went smoothly and was a big hit with everyone.More

This little local place, small and very nice. Wide selection of fish and seafood. I had the rainbow trout. Oh my, it was so good. Ate a bit of my friends crab cake and it was simply Devine. The appetizers, the side items. All were...wonderful. Will definitely go back when visiting Huntington, West Virginia.More

Recommended by our hotel we were able to walk the few blocks to this restaurant. Doesn’t look like much on the outside or inside. But the service friendly and food was delicious. Atmosphere is most definitely casual. Didn’t expect to find a seafood restaurant so...far from the coast but we did. Sarah our waitress did an excellent job serving us. I started with the Lobster Bisque then the Maryland Crab Cakes. My spouse had the Salmon. Presentation was basic but portions were large enough. Would definitely recommend this place.More

I'm pretty confident they have all kinds of seafood to purchase to take home. Like a fish market if you will.
