My family stayed at Embassy Suites while passing through town. We arrived at dinner time after a long day of driving and everyone was hungry. Rio Grande was nearby and was decently rated. I'm glad someone put in a review that it was down an alley and a little difficult to find. That helped us to find it more quickly.... More

It is hard to find a bad Mexican restaurant, and Rio Grande is in with the relatively good food and service that we expect. I like the large chicken burrito. It is generously sized, and prepared very well. If Rio Grande is convenient, you should give it a try.

I love mexican food. Rio is for sure the best around the charleston area! Good cheese dip is hard to find, and you can't just find it at any mexican place. At rio it is always the same and never dissappointing!

Nice atmosphere and affordable meal after helping my son and daughter in-law move furniture into their house.

the menu is simple. the flavors are authentic Mexican. if you've eaten Mexican food in Texas or southern California - I have - you will appreciate the flavors and generous servings at Rio Grande. Their salsa is full of cilantro

I've been going to this restaurant for years. Rio always offers good Mexican food. Nothing exceptional but it is reasonable priced. The wait staff is always nice and you get good service. The issue I have is with the location. This part of town has gotten very sketchy. Parking is bad and the walk away from the mall is uncomfortable.... More

Its down and alley which makes it a little to hard to find but that's part of the fun, a search for good food. We went in about 730 on a Sunday and i was a little nervous as we were the only guests, but i realized it was late for Charleston! We were quickly seated and the drink orders... More

This place in across the mall on a small side street. It is a decent size authentic Mexican restaurant. The margartias were good. The food was pretty good as well. Not the best but good. You get a nice portion for the prices. Quesadillas were awesome. And I loved the fresh chips. Didn't care too much for the salsa but... More

Although the salsa was too spicy for my liking, the Camerones a la Mexicana without the special (hot) sauce was perfect! You could really tell how fresh the very large shrimp were mixed with the crisp green peppers and the sautéed onions.
