Reported by Charleston newspaper that they are closing. I guess the combining anx the Bistro all didn't work out.

Was very excited to try this restaurant. Visited on a Saturday night and it wasn’t very busy. We were seated at a booth and the table was so wide I practically had to yell for my boyfriend to hear me. They had these little intimate...tables for two with white linen tablecloths and red roses at which nobody was seated, but we got the giant booth. Behind us there were three very boisterous fellows who were drinking and flirting loudly with their server. We had a new server and she was very sweet. We started with a nice bottle of wine. I had a dinner salad. It was a bunch of romaine lettuce wrapped in a long cucumber slice with other assorted veggies. It was a beautiful presentation, but had very little dressing on it so it was difficult to eat and very dry. My boyfriend had a Caesar salad that was covered in these brown crunchy things that looked like spiders. I tasted them and I think they were fried Brussel sprouts. Weird. The wine was very good, though. He got a $46 Filet with green beans and roasted potatoes. It was good, but nothing special, no better than a filet for half the price at other restaurants. I had Chilean sea bass for $48. Again, nothing special and much thinner than I expected. The presentation, however, was lovely. We had lemon cheesecake for dessert and it was divine. Overall it was extremely disappointing for the price. If I’m going to pay that much for a meal I’d rather go to Noah’s, Laury’s or the Chop House.More

Not very good at all and way over priced. Took over an hour after ordering on a slow night. For the price I expected so much more and left disappointed.

Absolutely rude waitress; slower than molasses; and had to retrieve my own beer if I wanted it that evening. It was not a busy time at the Barge and service to our table was extremeley slow. I observed another waiter that was seemingly keeping his...patrons in the green; however, our waitress didn't care when we ate or maybe even if we ate. I gave a two rather than a one because my wife really liked her shrimp caesar salad; but, my son had Lobster macaroni and cheese and it was served cold, but he was extremely hungry and didn't want to wait the hour to have it re-heated in a microwave.More

If u want overpriced food bc u happen to pull up in a boat, go there. The bar menu is pretentious, they don’t serve fries or burgers anymore. the dine-in menu is very over priced ($65 for surf n turf. I can get that at...the chop house cheaper). They say their ranch is made in house but I call bs; it’s bottled Hellman’s or something equivalent. Not worth the money or time.More

We had a large group of 30-35 for a reunion. When the plans were made, we were told people could have separate checks. 2 days before the dinner, we were told they changed their mind and would only take one check. Ironically, each couple was...given a printout of their bill so we would know how much to pay our organizer. Separate checks could have been done, the staff were just too lazy. We also found the prices a bit high for the quality of the food.More

My husband and I visited the Barge Restaurant right before the Nora Jones concert last night. I am sorry for the people who say they had a bad experience because it was absolutely delightful for us. We had excellent service and our food was delicious....It is very upscale but the waitress we had was so friendly and helpful. I got the scallops and my husband got duck and we both loved our meal. Everything that we had was done with beautiful presentation but it did not compromise the taste. We loved it.More

Ate at The Barge last night and I was really disappointed. I think they want to take care of the boaters more than there restaurant. We went for a girls dinner. There were 7 of us. While the salads came out I. A reasonable amount...of time, the meals did not, and they didn’t even put bred on the table until requested an hour later. The food tasted delicious, but I will not return for a meal unless they get their act together. 3 hours is too long for a dinner without dessertMore

They acted like they were doing us a favor when they gave us a wine menu finally. After requesting bread we got it an hour later. An hour and a half after ordering we got our salad. Two hours after ordering it we got our...entrée. Service is terrible beyond belief. The owner should be ashamed of this. Don’t ruin an evening by eating here.More

Ate at Bistro on the Barge for Restaurant Week. The menu was fabulous and the food great. I love their Caesar Salad with the shave Brussel sprouts and I had the poached lobster tail with the risotto cake. Cooked perfectly and nice presentation. All the...desserts looked terrific and everyone cleaned their plates.More
