Four of us waited quite awhile to get into this place on a Monday evening. Part of the problem was that so many other restaurants were closed that night and this was obviously the place to go to for dinner. We were able to order drinks and wait outside on the deck for a table. On a positive note, we scored a great table next to the river where it was cooler and offered a view. Service, however, was very slow (shortage of staff), but our server was very accommodating. The food was just okay. Three burger dishes and a fish and chips. Nothing special and the fish was overcooked to a crispy toughness. Beer was good. Halfway through our meal, a Cuban fellow who works in the kitchen, came out and sang a few opera songs while standing on the steps leading down to the lower deck. He was wonderful and talented and enthusiastically received by all the patrons. This made our night! Would I return? Maybe. But not for the food.

Because of the co-vid 19 pandemic and required outdoor seating mandated by our state, this pub had put in place wonderful heated "bubbles" that seated 6. It was cozy and the food was great. My Rueben was delicious and my fovorite local wine was perfect. We had made reservations (recommended ) and got seated in our cute bubble right away. The service was very attentive and friendly. My husband had the lamb pita which was excellent and my friends had the special-barbeque pork which they said they really enjoyed. I would recommend this place. It's also a very fun place in the Summer with live music on weekends.

It was a bit cool, but we enjoyed our dinner outside right next to the river. The servers were very professional and the kitchen was super fast in bringing our meals. Nice selection of brews. We had the Reuben and the hummus plate. There was such enormous big serving of hummus that we brought the rest home with us (and ate it later with apple slices). We can highly recommend this restaurant.

This place is a tourist trap serving trashy bar food and overpriced beer with amazingly bad service to match. Great place to go if you want to be forced to wait for an hr+, speak to snippy and rude bartenders and be ripped off by a Microsoft employee and his condescending brother ruling from afar. 5* rip off factor if you see their beer prices in the local iga.

We visit Winthrop 6-8 times a year and always make a stop at the Old Schoolhouse Brewery. We have enjoyed the cheeseburgers and beer. Last night we drove an hour from our camping spot and arrived at OSB by 6:45. We waited at the door and told the hostess we would like a table for three. She had just seated a couple before us. The young, blonde hostess told us the restaurant was closed. We stood there in shock and said, "Uh, what?" She told us that the kitchen closes at 8 pm and there wouldn't be time to serve us. She said the kitchen closes at 8 p.m. I pointed out to her that it wasn't 8 p.m. yet. She simply responded blankly that they were closed to seating customers. We asked when that happened and she sarcastically said "Now." That's a pretty insulting answer and I said, "What do you mean you're closed now?" Did you just close for us? What time do you stop seating people?" She said she didn't understand the question. I said, "Let's say we want to come back tomorrow. What time do you stop taking people to be seated?" She said, "7 p.m." I pointed out that it currently was 6:50 p.m. and she said they just had too many people still waiting to be seated. There was no one waiting. We weren't dressed like serial killers or circus clowns or Trump supporters so I have no idea why this, uh, "person" refused us service. We have enjoyed OSB many, many times, but we won't be back after this.

Our hungry family of 5 came here after an afternoon on the river. We had to wait 40 minutes for a table, but it was worth it for the outdoor seating area, which was very pleasant. We walked across the nearby suspension bridge while waiting. They were very busy and the food took a while to come out -- fortunately the views helped with the wait. We all had veggie burgers, which were huge (we paid the extra $3 apiece for the Impossible burger). "Side" caesar salads were also huge. Beers were quite good. It was a pricey meal out, but since we don't get out much, we were willing to pay for good burgers, beer, and a nice patio.

We started by ordering water, which was served at room temperature, not cold, no ice. I've only seen this in Europe, but never in the USA. My wife ordered a Reuben ($18) and fries were $2.50 more. So, a Reuben, customarily accompanied with fries for $13 (look it up at your favorite restaurant) was $20.50. I ordered the fish and chips ($18), but substituted a side salad for the "chips". The fish was badly overcooked, dry, and if you look at how thin the pieces were, given that the fillets were breaded, there was very little fish there. It tasted as bad as it looked, like burned cardboard. When I got the bill, I saw that I had been charged 50¢ for the salad dressing. WHAT!? I've never been charged for salad dressing. They also charged me for the fish AND the chips AND the salad. The server corrected the error. The final insult, after the bill was straightened out, the payment machine "allowed me" a selection of tips ranging from 18% to 30%. Ridiculous! This dining disaster, with 8.5% tax and an 18% tip was $55.70. No charge for the warm water. I'd never go back there, nor recommend this place.

Have visited OSB for many years and have always enjoyed our experience. Have noticed in the last few years, even before the pandemic, that service and quality of food was going down hill. Service is incredibly slow regardless of how busy they are and wait staff is not as friendly as before. Truly felt as if we were an inconvenience to waitstaff. OSB has been a must visit for us for many years and sadly we no longer go due to overall service and quality. Beer still good but will purchase at local market.

While staying at Winthrop, we visited Old Schoolhouse Brewery as on-line reviews for this restaurant was not bad. We ordered fish & chips to go. After about 40 minutes waiting, we finally got our food. When we were back to our lodging and opened the box, we were shocked to find that all the fish was blackened. They were so overcooked that the fish meat tasted like rubber, and the french fry was also badly over-cooked, tasting as hard as match sticks. We love fish & chips and have had this in many parts of the world as we travel. But definitely, the fish & chips at this restaurant was the worst and most expensive, even much more expensive than in Europe where food is almost always more expensive than in the US in general. From this dish, I don't think that the other food at this restaurant could be much better. So sharing this bad experience to warn other travelers when they go to look for a restaurant in Winthrop, WA

This is a very popular place because the food is excellent; we had the lamb sandwich selection. There was a large selection of beers on tap. The patio overlooking the river was a perfect place to eat your scrumptious meal. You may have trouble getting in because it's so busy.

Nice lower patio however had a fan blowing water all over me. The food was average and price was high. Hamburger $19 price only burger, turkey sandwhich $17 add fries another $5. We were not drinking beer so don’t recall the price. Server took our order quickly but receiving our food took longer than expected but food was great!

We were happy to have another option for takeout dinner ordering in our small community during the Covid19 pandemic. Online order was easy & efficient- except for a couple of small glitches: the special mustard ordered for .25$ extra wasn’t included, and there wasn’t a selection option for the dressing for the side salads we ordered. Other than these minor issues, dinner was great! Hubby Loved the Reuben sandwich! Yes, we would recommend this and order dinner to go again.

My wife and I had dinner here during a stay in Winthrop. They're limiting capacity so before were were seated in the patio for dinner we sat outside in their loft where you can have a beer. It seemed a little crowded in the loft but more social distancing while seated for dinner. As for the food it was quite good. My wife had a hamburger and I had a turkey caprese sandwich with balsamic and home made chips both of which were excellent. We had the blonde beer and an amber which I thought was particularly good. I would say this place is an un expected gem and worth a visit.

The service was great from start to finish. The pretzel with home made mustard was very good. The fish and chips were not good at all, the fish had no taste and they use a watery dill dressing instead of tarter sauce. The chicken wings should be call chick wings, I have never seen smaller wings, and they were doused in a bland sauce. I would say this is a great place for beer and a pretzel, not supper.

When you have a signature dish, you shouldn’t remove it from the menu. The Old School House Burger was the restaurant’s signature dish, in my opinion. The new Classic Burger is far inferior. The bun for example is a generic flat white bread bun, compared to the pretzel bun of the previous burger. No sauce. No cheese. Sad day in Winthrop. We are regulars despite the fries being habitually cooked at too low of a temperature, resulting in uncrunchy, soggy fries. Please, at least bring back the burger.
