Just got a pour over from Valhalla. Can be described in three words: Ah May Zing!!! Cool little shop with an awesome dark roast! You won't be disappointed!!!

So I had just finished brunch down the street and was talking about getting coffee. My friend, without hesitation, was like, "So if you go down just a few blocks, there's this place..." I'll be honest, the name is what attracted me. The external appearance...secured my interest, their unique style of interior design and merchandise held it longer, their various blends/brews peaked it, and partaking in my desired choice solidified my opinion. I'm a quarter Norwegian. The Viking Blend sounded great to me: 60% Sumatra, 40% French Roast. Tasted even better than I expected. I will definitely be back to sample more of my people's heaven coffee.More

I discover Valhalla Coffee a decade ago. They are artisan roasters. Their coffees are second to none. The Valkrie Blend is my favorite. Rich full bodied with complex tones. If heaven wrote a symphony, it would smell and taste like Valhalla Coffee.

Okay...first off Valhalla Coffee is a tiny place. If i'm not mistaken perhaps one table inside. But the coffee...just fabulous. You know you have arrived when you open the door (actually even before entering) and the rich aroma of freshly roasted coffee envelops you. You'd...think you are in coffee heaven. Unlike other big brand coffee houses' sterile atmospheres and commercial pitches, Valhalla is primarily about coffee. Good coffee. No, you can't order pastries or sandwiches or soup or salad...just coffee and a few coffee drinks. We buy our coffee beans there and then make our own...of course, we do get a coffee when we are there. Would it be nicer if it were larger, offered some pastries/sandwiches and had more seating? Yes, but it might lose its focus on the great coffee it makes. I can go elsewhere for food...but not many coffee houses can compete with Valhalla's coffee.More

When you see Valhalla Coffee from the outside, it looks like a hole in the wall. On the inside though is a coffee wonderland. This place serves one of the best coffees I've ever had. My husband and I were looking for a cup of...coffee while we were driving through Tacoma, and stumbled upon this place. They do small batch roasting on the premises, and the freshness of the coffee is clear with every sip. Unlike other PNW coffee places, there is ZERO pretentiousness here. The folks are friendly and answer any and all questions about the coffee. Since our visit, I've been back, and I now buy their coffee. This is a wonderful place.More

I had received a cap from my sister from this coffee shop and it sounded like fiction...NONSENSE. Their coffee can be routine or marvelously gourmet. You can easily order your coffee with cream and sugar here, AND order coffee from exotic locations, expertly roasted and...brewed to perfection. If they had more locations, I would have gone there more often (look out, Starbucks!), but it's a place a coffee lover can't miss if they visit Tacoma. Not to perpetuate a stereotype, but police know where to get a great cup of joe! When I was there and bought my gourmet Ethiopian Harrar, about four Tacoma Police Officers were onhand for a break.More

I used to pass by this coffee shop every day on my way to school when I took the bus. I always wanted to try it. The appearance from the outside truly isn’t the best the only thing that really draws me into it is...the name being “Valhalla Coffee,” Valhalla coming from Norse mythology being a giant hall in Asgard watched over by the Norse god Odin. I have always found Mythology to be fascinating that’s why I was drawn to this place. This project gave me a perfect excuse to try it finally. First impression upon walking into the shop was it was a perfect balance of red and black on the eyes. Not too much red to induce anger but, not too much black which would make it depressing, it’s the right amount making it ever so glorious. The lettering they use on the wall menu is really intriguing I love the design I have always been a fan of block letters like that. The Staff is very nice and welcoming extremely friendly I plan on bring my girlfriend to possibly try their coffee maybe I can get her to like coffee then. The smell of the coffee shop is very alluring I honestly feel like I am in Valhalla just off the smell alone it is another kind pleasure. The fact that they roast their beans is a whole other level. I don’t think I have ever had coffee beans that were freshly roasted in front of me.More

Valhalla coffee has TWO locations to get the BEST coffee in Tacoma. Their original location on 6th Ave. and one downtown Tacoma in the big blue 7 Seas Brewing building at 2101 Jefferson Avenue not too from the Hotel Murano and Greater Tacoma Convention Center....This location is harder to locate on the web but the venue is awesome. I drive from Seattle to Tacoma just to get their in-house roasted coffee beans- they are that good.More
