I have never been to one of these places before—apparently they have several different ones in unique buildings around the northwest. This one in Tacoma is in a cool old historic building with many different levels you can explore. The main level has a pub...restaurant and the lower levels have different types of bars including a tiki bar. It’s an interesting and novel experience working your way through the building, and quite a memorable place to spend an evening or two. I will say the food and drink was a little overpriced and the quality is not exceptional. But you’re here for the experience and it definitely lives up to it. Great place to go with a group of friendsMore

We ate in the Pub on the Main Entrance floor. We had great service and enjoyed the unique decorations and atmosphere. We had a light lunch with their soup of the day and a Caesar salad. Both were excellent. Also enjoyed some of their Kolsch...beer.More

this place was 'a trip' - in the best sense of the phrase. the décor in the Elks Temple was fascinating. service was excellent - 2 examples - they were out of my beverage request, bushmills 10 y.o. single malt. he offered red breast 12...y.o. instead, an ideal substitution. and i asked for my tots to be cooked 'extra crispy'. whenever i ask for fries or tots 'extra crispy', rarely does this happen. but they were indeed extra crispy tonight. and the rest of the food was excellent too. i had the reuben - one of the best i've ever had [and i've eaten many a reuben]. my ordered and enjoyed a veggie burger. we will definitely return to mcmeniman's.More

In short, my wife and I made reservations, told the people it was our anniversary. We arrived a little early so we waited at the bar. $21 for a beer and "special drink" Once got seated a long wait to take our orders, now yes it...have been understaffed. We got our appetizers ( brussel sprouts and fancy seasoned French fries). Both arrived luke warm) We ate about half of the servings, then. We then ordered the salmon, kind of reluctantly as I am a semi salmon snob. The fish arrived more than 30 minutes later. It was also luke warm, in seasoned and way overcooked. To add one more thing, as I mentioned it was our anniversary, and we noted it online, to the host with NO recognition. Sorry we were SO excited to eat here.More

How is there a group with 60 locations I've never heard of? This was an awesome stay. Small but well dressed room. Lights everywhere, but I defy you to find one burnt out. A little noisy on a night there is a show. But you...wouldn't stay in a rock n roll hotel if you weren't rock n roll, right. If you aren't there for a show, take the ballroom tour. Hell, take a tour even if you see a show. They'll give you the 411 on the art and the company. The pub food is pub food but a step above. Someone cares and you can tell. Crab fondue with baked pretzel sticks is a great way to start. We almost came back for a second night just to see a different room.More

We have visited McMenamins on three occasions -- as an extended family, as a couple, and as a threesome. All three visits went well -- from both a food and service perspective. Crowd varied on each visit (the first during the 4th of July weekend,...the second on a Friday night, and the third on Sunday evening). I suspect there's a good Happy Hour crowd, but we've not seen it firsthand. Parking is not always easy, but it's worth the effort.More

Friends brought us here and what an EXCELLENT choice for out-of-towners to experience!!! Service was quite ok (Seaj P) . Had Hoodoo Pizza which was good tho not $15. 'good' Husband's fries for fishnchips were NOT. Giving this a 5 'star' rating based on 1...of a kind ATMOSPHERE...loved the oddness of it, right down to the bathroom decor. Bill for 4 w/ tip was $106. Would 've been nice if food were better quality.More

Our waiters were just excellent for both dinner and breakfast. The menu is a bit limited during the pandemic, but it hits the main points. The food is excellently prepared and they do not skimp on anything. No silly decorations in the presentation.

To be truthful, Covid has kept us away from larger places like this Mcmenamins. But our craving for their cajun tots was too much and we ordered dinner to go. When we arrived, there were tents outside separating diners with fires glowing in each individual...space. The inside was quiet and the hostess was quick to provide us with our food. Their burgers are awesome with sides of cajun tots but their grit city shrimp with cheesy jalapeno grits is one of the best shrimp dishes anywhere. Mcmenamins has gone above and beyond following these guidelines and that is not easy to do with these landmark buildings. Regrettably, we are too far away for doordash, ubereats or postmates but we will definitely make the trek again soon after seeing how cautious they have been.More

We took advantage of the fall throwback special rates and stayed this past Sunday night. We had no trouble parking. We felt the hotel staff was very covid careful and the whole experience was wonderful. Staying at this special McMenamin property was like entering a...parallel universe even though we live only 40 miles away. We did room service for dinner and had a great breakfast in the gorgeous main restaurant. The room was sparkling clean and surprisingly quiet, given you are downtown and near a major road and rail-line. While nursing a final beer in the hotel lobby by the fireplace we observed hotel staff sanitzing surfaces. SO happy to be able to support this great company. The Elks Temple is incredible...thanks to the McMenamins for saving it for future generations.More

My Husband and I frequent McM locations often. This is not the one to visit. First of all they have NO parking. You have to find parking on the street and move your car every couple of hours so you don't get cited. We payed...an astronomical amount of money for a dingy room that just felt dirty. We were mostly visiting for the great food and atmosphere and boy we were wrong. We stayed over the weekend so the bars were packed and we waited an hour for a seat in the Tiki Lounge. Once we finally got seated and got food and drinks we had to chug them before they took them at 11. (covid rules understandable) Our room included a $30 breakfast credit which we were excited about. We were seated right away and then our server forgot about us. 30 mins later she finally came to take our order...drinks came another 30 mins after that. We finally received our food an hour and a half later. All we ordered was an omelet and hashbrowns. HORRIBLE ATTITUDE. HORRIBLE SERVICE.More
