We called ahead, had our table ready, and everyone was helpful and accommodating as we cleaned up prior to eating.

I lived in Ethiopia for 2 years. This is the real deal. Have had many dishes and have loved them all. Anytime I go through Spokane I bring at least a week of food back to Montana as no place like it here. Owner has...true Ethiopian hospitality.More

This was only my 2nd experience with an ethiopian restaurant, but it greatly paled in comparison to my first. We ordered 3 entrees to share on a single injera bread (typical style). The food was tasty, but the portion sizes were very small and the...prices were quite high.More

Owner/chef is lovely. We really enjoyed every bite of food. There were four of us, so we ordered 3 dishes (which comes with the tej bread), plus a beef sambusek appetizer, and it was the perfect amount.

This visit my family ordered the #18, Combination Plate, which they say serves 2, but in our case, easily fed 3 people. The Combination Plate combes with 3 meat entrees and one small veggie. It comes with Doro We't; Yesiga We't; Minchetebesh; and Tatakilt Alicha....The Doro We't is a traditional dish which consists of small chicken drumsticks, simmered in a thick spicy berbere stew with garlic, ginger, cardamom, onions, clarified butter, then topped with the traditional hard boiled egg. I absolutely LOVE this dish. The Yesiga We't is diced lean beef, slow cooked in a hot berbere stew with onions, garlic, tomato sauce, ginger, clarified butter and exotic Ethiopian spices. It also is delicious, and the sauce is very similar to the Doro We't. The Minchetabesh is lean ground beef, cooked in ginger, garlic, tumeric, onions and cardamom. The Yatakilt Alicha is potatoes, carrots, cabbage delicately sauteed with ginger, garlic, onions and tumeric. It's very good. All were enjoyed thoroughly with the traditional Ethiopian bread to pick up the entrees and eat them. The bread is very light, seems like it's a big pan cake, but it holds together well enough to sop up the entrees. My daughter had the lemonade. My wife had the Ethiopian Spiced Tea which she enjoyed. The owner gave us an order of Baklava to go. I love this little restaurant, and am sure to return. Ethiopian cuisine is so unique. The flavors are just so different than other food we eat in the West. The blending of spices is just amazing. If you haven't tried Ethiopian, then you are missing out. I'll admit, eating with my hands is not the norm for me, and my family, but it's part of their culture, and it's part of the experience. Enjoy!More

Another reviewer below summed up our experience almost exactly. If you are not a group of 4 or more, you will not be given a table inside the restaurant. Even though most of the tables were empty and not reserved, we were only allowed to...eat at a small table in the busy mall hallway. It was like paying for a pricey meal and sitting in a fast food courtyard while the cute African themed restaurant we had hoped to experience stood empty. Our bill for 2 was over $60, and even though the food is very good, we walked away feeling very disappointed with the experience. I hope this policy changes in the future because it comes off as really poor customer service.More

Enjoyed this place and it’s perky owner . The food was good and the portions for the main courses were good size. We had so much food ! You might want to share a meal. Loved the way things are served on a large common...plate and there is plenty of bread to dip with. ( You eat with the spongy brown bread instead of silverware ) If you haven’t tried Ethiopian food you need to try this fun dinning experience.More

We have eaten here regularly for several years and the food is outstanding. The flavors and spices are unlike any other cuisine and they are delicious. The atmosphere is not perfect--its small and inside a mall, and the noise and people passing by can be...distracting, but the food more than makes up for it. Be aware: If you have never had Ethiopian food, the food is served on a communal tray and you eat with your fingers. You really do need that wet wipe they give you when you're done :)More

Food and atmosphere were great, staff attentive and cheerful. Spice mixtures used in the food are for sale for great prices; iced spiced tea is divine.
