I know we are under the pall of the virus, and i was fine with the seating and the care sanitizing the menus etc. Unfortunately, the menu was much abbreviated and not too interesting unless you want steak or salmon. Last time we had rib...eye there it was tough, but we were willing to overlook that. My husband had the sauteed oysters. Just like bar food plus green beans. I had the clam buccatini--disappointing. Nothing special and I would say about equal with spaghetti house, a fast food joint. But the dessert was the epitome of disaster. Lemon cake with coconut cream topping and strawberries. Sounds wonderful?#$%^^& Well it was frozen strawberries on a cake that looked burnt on the bottom side and was dry as sand, even with the juice from the frozen strawberries. The coconut cream topping was coconut and cream cheese spooned onto the top. Totally disgusting and I tole them so. They took it off our ticket. I told them to re-evaluate that dessert or take it off the menu, it was disgusting. Probably will not return unless they clean up their act.More

I am so sorry that you did not enjoy our fresh local Willapa Bay Oyster Dinner nor our very popular Italian Clams Bucatini with fresh local Willapa Bay Clams and chopped ocean Razor Clams, Boy tell me the fast food joint or spaghetti house that...More
Our Bed and Breakfast hostess made reservations for us our first night in Long Beach and we were so glad she did. Timely and impeccable service, king salmon and clams bucatini both prepared perfectly. Hand sanitizers at each table also a nice touch. Don’t miss...dining here when in the area!More
Ever have the experience of being some place relatively new, not really know the area's restaurants, and decide to simply, "Let's ask Siri"? Sometimes you things turn out disappoint, sometimes OK, and then, once in while . . . JACK POT!! Well, that's what happened...with my wife and me last night. We're staying in our RV near the beach and decided to go out for my 60th birthday. We've eaten in town (Long Beach) a few times and found nice family places and a few pubs, but were looking for something more "upscale" for the occasion. My bride simply asks Siri and The Depot pops up with lots of stars (well earned) and a sample menu.
Well, we decide to go-for-it and make a reservation. We were absolutely delighted at what we found and ate. The atmosphere is old school European, sort of dimly lit (but you can see your food!), table cloths, etc. Since it was a beautiful evening we opted to sit outside in a heated arboretum area. (BTW, everything was COVID-19 standard; e.g., tables more than 6 ft apart, waitress in mask, patrons in masks away when away from their tables, etc.)
We decided on a nice Pinot from David Hill Estate (Oregon), pan fried oysters and gazpacho for appetizers. Wow, both were absolutely perfect! The oysters were lightly breaded (of some kind) and cooked just enough to be warm through out, not over cooked and not raw, which I also love but did not order <lol> I ended up having to fight my wife for them even though it was my birthday! And the gazpacho too was perfect, chilled, appropriately thick (not too runny or like tomato paste), with just enough "heat" to have you filling your spoon while still enjoying the one you just took. Yes, bad etiquette, but it was that good!
Entrees were equally delightful. I had some sort of combo of minced razor clam (a local speciality) and small clams (still in the shell) over pasta, with a wonderful garlic, butter, etc. sauce. I ate it all and then used some bread to scoop up the remains clams and sauce! My wife had an equally wonderful chicken dish with a delightful tomato sauce with garlic and grated cheese.
So, anyway, what a pleasant surprise. The meal was not inexpensive ($$$$ or so), but the atmosphere, wine selection, food, and GREAT service made it worth every penny. We vacation out on the WA coach often and The Depot will not be a "go to" whenever we in the area. Thank you Siri . . . . THANK YOU The Depot!
Blessings, Dave & JeanMore
We came here for dinner at the recommendation of our friends and a local we met earlier in the day. Loved this place. The food is great, the wine list is amazing, and loved the ambiance. We had a great server as well.
We will...definitely come back again.More
We haven’t been out much lately, for obvious reasons; actually, not at all. But for our anniversary, we ventured down to Seaview, and had the best meal one could hope for in any circumstances. We happened to run into 5 friends totally by chance, so...it was the seven of us outdoors, with plenty of breeze, at the Depot. The rib-eye meatballs on hummus and the wonderful house salad were fantastic starters. Then Oregon rack of lamb done to perfection and served over delectable saffron rice-they don’t chintz on the saffron. But the amazing dish was a pasta bucatini with chopped razor clams and local clams in the shell and an amazing broth. You will need more bread for that! I have gotten many clam pasta dishes over the years and none could match up to this one. The denouement, a home baked peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. Again, this is a seriously homemade dessert. We had heard that the Depot has roots and connections to the famous Ark restaurant and to the amazing women who ran that restaurant for many years and hosted the famous garlic dinner. Jamilla Lucas is gone now, but the Depot has a new and refined place in this part of the world.More
have been coming to the LB area since 1980. the Depot has been opened for at least 15 years. Yet, for some reason, never had been to the place.
Well- corrected that mistake.. we went twice in 4 days.
First nigh-t had the 'fresh salmon.'...It was cooked just right- good size- wonderful. Second visit - had the 14oz. rib eye steak special. Done cooked as ordered. Tender as any I have had.
A shout out to DON - who served us both nights. Don is a 'pro.' With his 'ponytail' look, laid back style-nothing would seem to rattle him too much.
The 'only' issue I would have is the lack of a 'full bar.' that is just me. After all these years, the Depot looks like it is doing quite well without those 'spirits.'
Finally, what I look for in a restaurant is- of course the food. But I also place a high value-for the ambiance of the place and the friendliness of the staff. In all three areas- I would rank the
depot quite high.More
