Apparently Freckles Gourmet Barbecue has closed and a new restaurant, also BBQ, has opened in its place called Pearl's.

Amazing Bar-B-Q in a variety of meats. Nice variety of beers and hard ciders served. Great family atmosphere with friendly service. Fridays they have an amazing Fish fry that is more than enough. Portions are plentiful.

We went into Republic brewing and was told we could order food next door and bring it over. So on the recommendation of some locals, we had the brisket and ribs. It was very good! The restraint is really cool and trendy feeling. Which was...surprising given the small town. Republic is a cool little town and theFreckles BBQ and Republic brewing made for a fun enjoyable time.More

Best Onion Rings I have had in years. Hand breaded, crispy and delicious. The veggie wrap was thick and filled completely. I savored it wit a dab of BBQ sauce on top. My wife had the fish and chips and the cod was 12” long....The crinkle fries were ordinary Good service and pleasant people.More

Next to the brewery with a selection of beers on tap. Menu of soups, sandwiches, burgers and mains. I choose the daily special along with a salad. Good fresh ingredients, large portions, served with a smile. Please support this local business!

We stopped for dinner and I loved the pulled pork sandwich. Beer batter onion rings were a great. They had 4 beers on tap including 2 from the brewery next door.

We needed a place to have dinner before a library talk, and discovered this restaurant. The owners and staff are very friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and prepared a delightful meal. The decor is nice, and...the atmosphere is perfect for a BBQ place. We will definitely be going back when we have the opportunity, and we highly recommend this restaurant!More

We stopped in for dinner. We were headed to post falls from Oroville and decided this was the town to eat in. We took a left instead of a right and parked in front of the brewery. There were quite a few people seemingly enjoying...themselves at the brewery and freckles open sign was on and the place was empty short of a waitress and a cook. We came in and ordered our beer and wine. We ordered our food and talked with the waitress. Danny was her name. She and our cook were fun and wonderful. Our food was fantastic. We couldn't have had a more perfect dinner and a better time. Also the fact that we were the only diners made it even better. I hope to come back some time. A definite must in republic.More

Ate lunch here twice. Both were pleasant experiences. Friendly service, good food. Could probably eat dinner here too, although menu mostly shows sandwiches.

I have to tell you - this was one of the best steaks I've ever had. My Wife and I had a quiet, charming date just before closing. She had the 'Blue Cow' deluxe cheeseburger. I had the 12oz. Ribeye. I had to force myself...to eat it slowly it was so delectable. A few weeks ago, I had The Steak Sandwich offered by Freckles. This just one of those things in Life you just have to experience. I don't think Hemingway could adequately describe the immediate and powerful deliciousness of the proprietary Freckles sauce and how it combines with the steak and vegetables within such a savory package. We'll be eating there as much as we can.More

We stopped for lunch and found this large, open restaurant, with top-notch service. I eat a LOT of fish & chips when I dine out ... my Dr. says fish is good for me. But the Fish & Chips at Freckles' were the best I've...had in many, many a year. A light, delicious batter over Alaskan Pollock that was done to perfection. Absolutely grease-less! My wife had a "burger dip" with a home-made patty that she raved about. You can bet we'll be back!More

On vacation for the week and decided to try. My husband and I split the flatliner burger. It was a burger, pulled pork, and bacon in between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Oh my goodness. So good. Try their sauces! Our friends got the wings and...loved them too.More

Most restaurants in this small town seem to have pretty good reviews on Trip Advisor, but I've been to a number of them in the past, and would not have rated most quite as favorably. Freckles will be my new favorite spot in this town....We enjoyed the Friday evening fish taco special. The pico de gallo was the best--so fresh and flavourful. My preference for fish taco's is grilled fish, but even though this was deep fried, it was very good. I don't think they have air conditioning, but there were several fans going on this hot summer evening that kept the room temperature pleasant. Service was efficient and friendly. Washrooms were clean with even a cannister of citrus air freshner available for use. I will certainly be back to try some of the other menu selections that I didn't have a chance to experience.More
