We had read the amazing reviews and were excited to try this out. We had the apple pie. The filling was delicious - cooked to perfection. The crust was way overcooked and didn’t soften even when soaked with ice cream. The woman taking the orders...was not very friendly to us. She was noticeably more welcoming to the locals. We had to get the order to go (due to Covid), but it was still strange to be asked if we wanted utensils. Were we supposed to eat the pie & ice cream with out hands? Maybe it was on off day, but there’s no need for us to go back.More

We ordered the veggie pizza and the strawberry rhubarb pie. Both were delicious. How they make the pie crusts so perfect must be a secret art. This is a great place to dine in when that is an option, and right now, it is wonderful...for take away orders.More

The pizza is truly the best. My favorite is Margherita Pizza which has garlic in it so it is truly the best. All the pies are wonderful but make sure you order them when you sit down because by the end of your meal don't...be surprised that they are sold out of them.More

I had soup and bread and it was delicious! But what was even better was the pecan pie! It was a huge serving with homemade whipped cream. So good!! Would like to go back and try the pizza next time.

I had reviewed Hillbottom about five years ago, and have been back many times since. Just went again, and had a really wonderful meal. Although menu is limited to soups, salads, pizza and pies for dessert, the chef, Tim, makes each item a classic. This...evening I had the mulligatawny soup, which had almonds and pieces of apple in it, a blue cheese dressed salad with Tim's own home-made blue cheese dressing, a potato and spinach pizza (with bacon), and pecan pie with Elevated vanilla ice cream. For off-season, Hillbottom was pretty busy. Best to arrive for dinner around 5:30 pm to be sure you get a seat and that some pieces of pie are still left. As noted in some other reviews, the pizza is dark/burned at the edges, but I think that makes it more flavorful. Service was very good and friendly. They do serve alcoholic beverages.More

Hillbottom has a limited menu, but everything on it is delicious. Fantastic pie, of course, ( my favorite being Marionberry ) it's the crust. You won't want to leave it behind. But the soups are legendary, too, and they also serve salads and crispy pizza....I'm not a Ceasor salad fan but the word on the street is that it's the best ever.More

We stopped for lunch and shared a pizza. I'm not sure why they burn the crust on the pizza, but from what we could tell, they all came out that way. Is that a signature style? Overall, the pizza was very bland with a lot...of runny cheese and no flavor or spices. It's a cute restaurant with friendly wait staff, but probably wouldn't come back.More

The soups are wonderful and the Caesar salad is the best in town. Pizza and pies excellent too. The place is small so you may have a wait, but it's worth it.

Nice little location off the busier main street. Attractive older building nicely renovated inside - breezy front door/nice lighting/sidewalk tables. We got two pizzas, salads, soup and dessert. The Margherita and Soppressata pies were really good - roasty, full of character, very tasty. One pie...can serve two or three. Excellent Caesar salad - half salad plenty for two. We enjoyed their smoked salmon and curry garbanzo soup too. As for the desserts - I make a great bourbon/pecan pie - but this buttery, large, flaky pecan pie is the best I have ever had. Seriously. And served with a mountain of real whipped cream. I went back next day and claimed a piece of marionberry to take out - again, a great berry pie! A great place for luch or dinner in Port TownsendMore

Tim is a master pastry chef - I don't know his secrets, but I do know he uses good ingredients and does not take shortcuts! Have you tried the strawberry rhubarb pie?
