If you want a substantial breakfast, and I do mean substantial, the Blue Moose Cafe in Port Townsend is hard to beat. My spouse had read that it was rated #4 in PT, so we went there for lunch - and ordered from the breakfast menu. (I don't know if there is a lunch menu.) We both had huge servings. If you aren't a big eater, and don't want to take leftovers with you when you leave, ask if there are "half orders" available. We returned the next morning for breakfast and each had a half order of huevos rancheros. Tasty, and more than enough even at a half order. Parking can be hard to find. A small kitchen so service is somewhat 'relaxed', but the food arrived hot and tasty.

My friends and I were introduced to the Blue Moose Café by some local friends, and we were immediately charmed by this cool, eclectic spot. Nestled in a boatyard, the unique atmosphere of being surrounded by boats definitely added to the experience. On our first visit, we sat outside, soaking up the lovely weather. The food was delicious, the coffee was great, and the staff was incredibly friendly. We enjoyed it so much that, even with other options available, we felt compelled to return the next day for breakfast in the same spot. This time, we sat inside, and once again, the Blue Moose did not disappoint. The interior is just as funky and fun as the outside, making it a truly unique place to enjoy a meal. It’s a real gem in Port Townsend, and we couldn’t resist coming back for more:)

Tucked into Port Townsend’s boat yard where there is a smattering of restaurants and coffee shops, The Blue Moose is a favorite breakfast and lunch spot for locals as well as visitors. Healthy portions are sure to fill you up. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. Seating outside are picnic tables. They do a brisk business on the weekends. You may have to wait. Various curios are scattered about an add to the colorful ambience

I'm not sure if it was just a bad day or what, but it's hard to believe this place is so highly rated. I came in for breakfast, ordered the "you asked for it" which is a pretty basic meal of one pancake, one egg, and bacon. I requested a sub for the bacon of veggie sausage. Not only was I charged an extra $2 (for not receiving anything actually extra), the sausage patty was almost too salty to eat. The pancake was rubbery, the egg was ok. I think this was the worst breakfast I've ever received at a restaurant in my 40+ years.

Service was great and our food appeared in good time. Everything served was as expected and was very tasty, There were three of us dining and we did not have to wait to be seated at all, even though we were not “locals”. We all ordered different dishes and each was exactly as expected.

We went to breakfast at the Blue Moose today. It is located in the boat storage, repair area of Port Townsend. Just park where you can. They have outside and inside seating. While they may serve locals faster, we had no difficulties ordering and receiving our food. The food was good and there was plenty of it. We would go back for breakfast again.

Party of 4. Breakfast two days in a row. Great friendly neighbourhood service, reasonable prices, wildly eclectic rustic decor, and excellent food. This morning I had a corned beef hash that was loaded with fresh juicy meat and superb potatoes. Yesterday it was cinnamon bun French toast with sausages. Good grief! Amazing. Everyone had a similar experience. When we travel to a new place we like to try out different restaurants every day. I’ll give you a tip — in Port Townsend you should just have breakfast at the Blue Moose.

Parking was difficult and had to wait about 20 minutes to get in on a Monday morning (they provided a pager) but was well worth the wait. The breakfast food is excellent and the coffee, too! Our waitress provided great service and kept our coffee filled. The combo of biscuit & gravy + corned beef hash was delicious. This place is in a docks/marina area so interesting to walk around afterwards as well.

We came here because of the great reviews but left dissatisfied. Our waiter was inattentive and seemed to be on another planet - perhaps he had a late night? We had to ask for water, for extra coffee and even then we had to wait for both. Food was okay but took ages to come. Granola with Greek yogurt and fruit was a nice change from other local menus, it was very tasty and the portion was huge but the ratio of granola to yogurt was way off so it was a dry eat. I wanted to ask for a half glass of milk to help soften it up but decided I couldn’t wait that long. I am guessing it is hit and miss about whether you get a good experience - just don’t bank on it!

We thoroughly enjoyed the eclectic vibe of the Blue Moose. Food was very good, hearty servings and efficient and friendly staff made our breakfast quite enjoyable. Plenty of coffee refills and we liked the fact that some entrees could be ordered as 1/2 orders. Would highly recommend the Blue Moose to all!

When we arrived, we were told it would be a 25 min wait for a table. 1 hour 15 minutes later we were seated. We ordered soon after sitting down and waited another 1 hour for the food to arrive. It was okay... home cooked style but a little cool by the time it arrived. My drink was long done and no refill or water was offered. Portion was reasonable sized such that you were not stuffed when you were done, just barely full. So if your time is not that valuable and you don't mind spending a lot of time in an uncomfortable plastic chair, then this place is for you. However, there are other places in town that also serve good home cooked style food in much less time. It is unlikely I will go back anytime soon. And if I do go back, I will not believe them when they say it is a 25 minute wait.

Boated to Port Townsend with family from Sequim Bay. All to try the Blue Moose at the recommendations of many. It did not disappoint! There were a dozen of us and we all seemed to get something different. Omelettes, blueberry pancakes, French toast, veggie scramble, breakfast burrito, etc. All were delicious and the wait staff could not have been nicer! Definitely will return on our next trip to the Sequim’s area!

The most amazing meal! Between the four of us we had juevos rancheros, scooter, french toast, and bagel sandwich and we all were convinced we had the best meal ever. We quickly agreed that any time we're anywhere close to Port Townsend we have to go there every time. The staff was super friendly and really put a high priority on safety measures too, which is really important to a family full of high risk folks. The food was just incredible. You owe it to yourself to go there!

The Blue Moose Cafe is hidden away in the Boat Haven Marina and Boat Yard. Since meals are takeout only right now , you can park just seconds away to dine “in vehicle” with a beautiful view. Our breakfast was delicious with fluffy biscuits and tasty bacon and eggs. I tried the potatoes with yams and loved the addition of healthy sweetness. The waiter was very welcoming and efficient. The cafe is modest but well worth a visit!

This tiny little hole in the wall cafe had people lined up down the street! That alone is a good sign. Many people were ordering food to go, so it wasn't a terribly long wait. We were give a beeper and waited about 20-30 minutes for a table inside. They are right in the middle of the fishing boat dry dock area. May not be pretty, but I promise you won't care! The portions are large and cooked to perfection. My sister and I shared and huge ham, cheese and mushroom omelet that came with toast of your choice and seasoned fried red potatoes. Half the breakfast was still very filling! The coffee was excellent. Only thing to note is they do not offer sugar free sweetener options for your coffee. Just sugar, raw sugar and honey I believe. Bring your own if you need it and enjoy your breakfast.
