With the heat wave, not many restaurants were open in the area, so we gave El Portal a shot. Glad we did.
I had the horchata which was good, and some great fajitas - more than I could eat.
My niece had the arroz con...camarones. I tried some and will have to order that next time.
Alcoholic drinks were generous and the waiter brought all the drinkers a shot of tequila to finish the meal we all received complimentary desserts.More
I saw the owner frowning at a child's curly hair. Like a child can choose her hair. Thats not cool. Maybe the place isn't for everyone. Dont subject your children to this. That kid didn't see her but I did and really I'm glad the...child doesn't have to carry her disgusted look home from a judgemental stuck up restaurant owner. Truth is she should be looking at the floor in there it's gross and herself becuase she is FAR FAR from perfect herself. Dont believe me? Go see for yourself and watch how she looks at colored people and how she acts away from the restaurant towards people and ask yourself if that is the person and businesses you want to support. There's other restaurants without the snob act.More
This would be a 5 star if our server focused on us too more and NOT just some regulars and his gf at another table! His tip would have been more too of course. Great food and pretty good prices though! Turn the music up...a bit too as I love authentic Spanish/Mexican music! Could hardly hear. Just listened to other guests yapping and some kids being loud and obnoxious.More
Friends in Omak and I have visited El Portal on several occasions in past several years. Yes, it is not the "hot spot" downtown but also not noisy and crowded seating. El Portal family-owned and whether the youngest generation helping out decides to stay in...the business, too soon to say. Keeping it simple, good food. Reasonable selection of beers. I'm a chicken mole devotee most places. If acceptable to great, I'm a repeat customer and willing to try other entrees. We will keep coming back!More
My wife and I were staying in Omak for a few days and were looking for some good restaurants. This is a good one. We like places that don't have loud music and aren't hectic and face-paced. This met our requirements. The food was good...and the staff was friendly and efficient.More
