The dishes I am reviewing makes this the best Thai restaurant I've ever eaten at in the US for authenticity and quality. I am originally from Singapore and have found two dishes here that resemble dishes from there. The first is Guay Teow Num - Similar to a fish ball noodle soup or "Kuay Teow Thng" I sub the noodles with wide rice noodles. It comes with fish balls, fish cake, slices of chicken pork balls, bean sprouts - best eaten with the complimentary fresh chilli in fish sauce - sooo good! The second dish is Pad See Ew that is similar to a Penang style Char Kuay Teow. I sub bean sprouts instead of broccoli and carrots. This is as good as any I've had in Penang and totally satisfies my cravings for food back home. the whole street outside the restaurant smells of a hawker food center back home. Amazing, delicious smells! The only place to eat these dishes anywhere in North America!

Not a fine dining experience, but the food is out of this world! The space is tiny. Just room enough for a couple of small tables, and about 6 at the counter. All the cooking is done in front of you, by a couple of people who know their stuff, when it comes to cooking Thai! One thing you need to be aware of: 2 stars is like 3 or 4 at other Thai places. So if you're not that big on heat, but still want a little, go with 1 star. Nice people, too! Take out is a good idea, too, since the space is so small.

Delicious Food. They REALLY mean it when they say the food is spicy. I chose 1 star, and it was plenty hot! All take out - pick some up on a beautiful day and walk half a block to the river side park to enjoy it!

We chose this place because of the reviews and we love really good Thai food. It did not disappoint. I ordered the Red Curry, and my husband ordered the Four Musketeers Fried Rice. Both were delicious. Don’t be put off by the fact that they aren’t allowing dine-in, (they have very little seating anyway)...it’s right near the river and nice outdoor picnic seating with pretty views. We enjoyed the outdoor dining almost as much as the delicious food! Highly recommended seating.

We were finally able to return today, after staying away during the pandemic. It still provides the best Thai meal we have ever found, in all our travels. Sitting a few feet away from the staff prepping and cooking the fabulous meals, make the experience even more impressive. Chatting with the friendly manager while your meal is quickly prepared is an added bonus. This funky little Thai Cafe is a gem that shouldn’t be missed, if you want a totally unique and flavorful experience!

We ordered Spring Rolls and two entries. As I walked up the block to this establishment for the very first time, several other customers were coming or going - all wore masks. And I saw the server place our bag of food in a box on the table outside the door. Great timing, right on time. Unfortunately, the server was not wearing a mask. I find it difficult to believe any establishment would allow their workers to go without a mask. Hopefully, they will comply on June 26th when the new mandatory mask rules go into effect.

We love this place and will wait for a seat or do takeout if it’s busy. We’re still living on it during this pandemic! I’m sure this will be the Covid-19 cure! Call your order in and pick it up hot and wonderful. Thanks for all the great effort to keep the food as good as ever!

Excellent Thai food. Stopped in for lunch and had shrimp pad Thai. Prepared with fresh ingredients. Small, quaint place. Owner very friendly. Take-out only for now due to COVID restrictions.

Take out or counter service only. Food prepared quickly. Good chicken Pad Thai. Lots of activity to keep you entertained. Has an old time urban Asian food restaurant feeling.

Classic HITW! Tiny-8counter seats. You wait at the door to come forward and place your order, then hopefully by the time the order comes, a chair has cleared. And as you wait, they are doing a brisk take-out business. Clearly a hometown favorite because the owner spoke to many people arriving to pick up food by name. They had 4 people working in the tiniest of spaces. And are they turning out the food! A co-worker and I stopped here after a training on the recommendation of the people we were working with and who live in Mount Vernon. It's one of those places you would never find on your own. I am not a Thai food fan (my co-worker is) so I selected something I thought I would least dis-like and settled on the Phad kee mao with tofu. My friend went with Tom Yum noodles. Mine was amazing; first Thai food I've ever really thought was good. And generous portion. My friend let me try her soup and it was amazing. The broth was fabulous. Hope to come back again sometime.

The food and people are great here and definitely worth the wait! They prioritize well, meaning they won't do phone orders unless all customers are properly taken care of in house first and then they will do take out orders. They are friendly and I love their pad thai!

Tiny place! Just stools at a bar. Cooked to order and very spicy! Can call in for take out if crowded. Don’t miss this little gem of a restaurant.

I wanted to review this place higher because the staff is dedicated, friendly and BUSY! Also, the food is ultra fresh and made right in front of you. However, the food itself was average as was the presentation. Also, there is zero ambiance - merely the open kitchen and a long counter with pedestal seats. They have an incredibly robust and thriving take-out business and I think that would be what I'd do the next time I ordered from here. I was disappointed at how highly rated this place was, but good food in Mt Vernon is hard to come by.

What an amazing experience! Only offer bar seating for 8-10, but was seated within 10 mins! And the food was worth EVERY second of the wait! They love their spicy peppers, so be sure and have them help you select the right level for you! Had red curry with prawns and a Thai iced tea - best I’ve had EVER! And they’re so nice!
