We have traveled extensively in Germany and found this restaurant, the food, the beer and the accordion player to be the real deal. I would highly recommend eating here.

We are not big fans of German food. With that thought, the dinner was good. We split a meal. Neither of us left hungry. We had jagerschnitzel with a side of weinkraut.

I’ll start with the positives. We were greeted quickly and seated in a good place to experience the live music and watch the room activity. The service was friendly and timely. Once we got our food it went downhill. The temperature was barely warm. None...More

We had a great dinner here in this very interesting basement restaurant. Food was very good and competitively prices. Our booth was an imitation barrel. Dinner was accompanied by a accordionist dress in lederhosen singing German songs. Felt like we were in Munich.

I cannot understand why we were asked to wait for a table when the place was only half full. We think that there were not enough staff on duty. Even so we thought that we should give it a fair trial. I started with a...More

Description
This family-owned business has been bringing Bavaria to Leavenworth for over 25 years. The chef, Anita Hamilton, has been personally overseeing the kitchen since 1991 and is a native of Germany. The made-from-scratch desserts, soups and entrees are reminiscent of traditional Gasthaus fare. The owner, Heidi Forchemer, travels to Germany yearly for new menu ideas. Her son, Max, can be heard playing his button accordion most weekends, along with other local musicians, such as Tom Tilton of the Alpenfolk band. It simply doesn't get more authentic than this!
