Ok, but not wunderbar.

We went up to Leavenworth on a Friday to beat the weekend rush. There was no snow so travel was easy. Not too many people yet, and kind of a laid back atmosphere. Before we headed out we picked Gustav's because it had some ok reviews and had no wait. I'll say it was ok. Service was good, but not super friendly or attentive. We were looking for some German food and this is not the place. There's a Bratwurst patty sandwich and I had the Pork Schnitzel "burger" . They were good but nothing memorable. I did ask for rye bread instead of pretzel bun and that was tasty. My husband had the Guztav Burger. Just a cheeseburger. Each burger was $14.50 and $13 for just the burger!! Fries were $5 or $7.50 extra!! They were not worth it. Bland and oily. Service was adequate but our table seemed to be an afterthought to see how we were doing. Soooo if you're hungry and will take "whatever" is available, then this place will satisfy. We won't be back.

I was surprised at how few people were inside and on the upstairs deck. It took a really long time for waiter to come see us. We placed our order and then again waited a long time for the food to arrive. The food was not bad, but seemed to cost more than I would have liked. They should have more options on the menu, and multiple items we tried to order they were out of. The interior is really nice with wood. The server who cared for us at the end was friendly.

Overall, everything was good at Gustav's. I couldn't give them a better review due to the lack of clarity about fries as being Ala carte. Typically, when you order a $16 burger, fries are included, not as a $7 to $10 add-on. There is lots of room and seating.

Worst experience in a restaurant

Worst experience in a restaurant. They sat us at a table that was in everybody’s way. Other customers had to awkwardly step sideways to get around us. The food took forever to get to the table and when it did it was terrible. The fries weren’t cooked through and were cold. The burger I ordered was sitting in a puddle of juices and the bun was soggy. The waiter basically ignored us all meal. We managed to finally snag him to bring us napkins and the water we ordered, he quickly brought them to the table and then took off again.

Great menu, great service!

We were at this restaurant several years ago before Covid. This was our second trip to Leavenworth as my husband was hiking the PCT trail. Not only was the food really great and very reasonably priced, but the staff was so friendly and accommodating. We came for dinner rather late in the evening and asked if we could sit outside on the rooftop area overlooking the city and the mountains. They accommodated us even though there were only a couple people sitting up there and it was getting late. From the moment we walked in the door the young man greeting us was super friendly. Recognized my husband from two days before after he got off the trail. After being seated the young man who brought our water and silverware etc. asked if we needed anything before the server came and was also super friendly and accommodating, even being as young as he was. Our waitress was Danny (or Deanna?) and she was adorable. Gave us good tips on what to order and the food was yummy. Spent a long long time talking to us even though we were the last ones up there finishing up and she probably really wanted to go home but she did not show that. They visited the table numerous times during our dinner to see if we had everything we needed, more drinks more sauces etc. etc. etc. all staff was very congenial the entire time, even as we were going out the door!

Disappointing

The ambiance was nice, but that was about the only thing that was nice about this place. Service was extremely slow and the food was less than mediocre. I had one of the worst Reuben sandwiches I've even eaten and my wife's bratwurst was the worst. The sauerkraut was really awful. And need I even tell you how disappointed I was with my beer. I lived in Germany for three years and was hoping for something a bit more authentic. So disappointed.

Horrible food

Service was great, food was awful. This place needs a new chef. My salad had room temperature tasteless chicken chunks, hardly any dressing, very little feta, and not a single candied pecan as described in the menu. The strawberries looked and tasted like they had been sliced a long time ago. There were two pieces of garlic bread...room temperature, stale and tasteless. My husband's Rueben sandwich was plated sauerkraut side down so the bread was soggy. There was no point in complaining about the food....whoever fixed it wouldn't have a clue.

I'd highly recommend their pretzel sticks. Our food was a deli sandwich, pepper burger and a veggie sandwich, plus fries. All tasted good and no complaints. It's a bit pricey, but we found this to be the norm for all the Leavenworth restaurants.

Quick Service, Ice Cold AC, Many Food Options to Please a Crowd

Headed into Gustav’s to take a break from the high 80 temps. Excellent AC and plenty of seating options. Victor was a great server and took great care of us starting with drink recommendations, huckleberry mule and moose drool draft. We ordered the Halibut Burger and Halibut Ortega…both prepared quickly, arrived hot to the table and excellent for sharing. Our favorite of the two was Halibut Ortega. The green chile and salsa on the side gave added flavor and balance. Always enjoy a stop here for lunch. If you haven’t been check it out.

Awful disappointing service, left without eating so bad

We have always loved the restaurant until tonight. We were there over an hour before the waitress blamed the kitchen for losing our order. We watched other families of five ordering and getting their food but she never checked on us. . Ok we ordered another drink which we had ask twice for. She blamed the slow service on the kitchen and two big groups. Finally the food came and she asked if we wanted mustard. I finally after 15 minutes got it ourselves from a table nearby. . And we ordered weisswurst and it was not anything close, she blamed the kitchen again. The wasps were awful and of course not her fault but she blamed maintenance for not taking care of them. So disappointed because we always look forward to eating there. I think they the owners need to fix this or they will lose many customers if they care.

Quiet dinner with no wait around 530 on a Saturday.

Really busy at lunch so we came back for dinner. Good variety on menu. Food came Fast. Staff were friendly. We tried the sausage platter which you can select up to three different types that they slice up.

Good place to eat!

We only had to wait less than 10 minutes to get a table during the busy dinner time. I had a hamburger and my boyfriend had a Reuben. We both really enjoyed our meals. One of the best hamburgers I have had. The French fires are hand-cut and very tasty. Would definitely recommend. Service was also good.

The food was good. A bit on the expensive side for what it is. The wait staff checked up on us regularly. My partner had the fish and chips ($24) with lemonade. I had the beef ortega burger ($15). The burger comes alone so I ordered the fries ($7). I shouldn't have. Too much food! It was good though. The QR Code to pay was on the receipt which is different but easy to pay so we didn't have to try to flag down the staff take my credit card.

My husband and I had a very good lunch while visiting Leavenworth. He had a rueben sandwich and I had a patty melt sandwich. Our waitress was very nice and even sent us home with a container of the horseradish that my husband loved!! We will go back next time we are in Leavenworth.

Had the Chocolate cake for Desert

They where really accommodating as we came in late just for cake, really nice staff. We ended up going back to the hotel to eat the cake by the pool and it is heavy. It is really rich, thick and almost fudge like which is not what I was excepting.
