We're Beau Legs Fish & Chips and we've been a seafood restaurant here in Lacey, WA, since 2009. We specialize in catering and southern comfort food that's hard to find in the Pacific Northwest, offering jambalaya, gumbo, and seafood. We started this business to bring southern flavor to the area. We're looking forward to growing our business to continue to serve Lacey and the surrounding areas. Good Southern Style food.

Good Southern Style food. Beaulegs features southern style seafood. The clam strips are really thick. It’s obvious that they cut and bread their own strips and don’t by frozen strips from a restaurant supplier. Their bread pudding is great as is their pecan pie and cole slaw. Their red beans and rice are meaty and the pulled pork is passable.

Not quite like home but close

Quality food and Flavor. Being from the south, I was looking for some good catfish. While it doesn’t taste just like it did at home it was pretty close. They were very busy while we were there but everyone was very helpful and you could tell they were really trying. We will be back!!!

Not many places you can get grits in the PNW

A great find. Good southern food that is very rare in the Pacific Northwest. It's a very small restaurant, but serves a wide variety of food, from catfish to gator. But don't worry as halibut fish and chips and salmon are also on the menu. It is also very clean. I found the service respectable and friendly. I hope these guys succeed.

Piss poor service and long wait time

Although the food is good the service is disrespectful. The host is rude when she answers the phone and when you are in her face. They never make eye contact with you when they are busy. And when you try to ask a question after waiting over an hour for your food the walk away as if you didnt say anything. So if you have time to wait on great food and be disrespected all at once this is the place to go. But it is no longer a place for us. I tried my best support this business with it being black owned and family ran but I will no longer let you have my money and disrespect me at the same time. True disappointment!

New to the area and figured I'd give this place a try because I love seafood and clam chowder. I ordered a 2-piece cod basket and added a piece of catfish, with a large clam chowder for $35.00 which seemed reasonable in today's market. Cashier said it would be ready in 15 minutes and so I waited and waited as I can hear the cooks in the back loudly laughing and goofing around. I see the cashier go in the back several times asking for orders as many customers were waiting on their food. I finally get mine after a 25-minute wait. Cod was good but catfish was a hard crunchy cornmeal batter with lots of salt and a very thin piece of fish in the batter, I threw it away after 2 bites. Clam chowder, well let's just say I wouldn't call this clam chowder more of a Potatoe soup at best. Needless to say, I won't be going back as the food is mediocre at best and not worth the wait nor price. It's unfortunate because I like to support small business. I'll eat at the German Diner a block away with wonderful food and have to find another place for seafood and clam chowder.

Disappointed

We are regulars and I hesitated to write this review. My husband urged me to because he said it would serve as feedback and room for improvement since we have owned restaurants in the past. We dine and order out at least twice a week - not including meeting a friend for lunch sometimes. The food is usually hot and tasty. The last three + weeks however have been a hit-and-miss with these guys The service has been awful, and borderline rude sometimes. Long wait and as regulars, you'd think they would have a clue about how to keep loyal customers! The food is usually warm and bland and the wait is long. It is bizarre as to what is happening here.

Good choice

The fried chicken, homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni and cheese were excellent. My husband enjoyed his meal. Service was friendly and attentive. While this was my first time I look forward to trying other items on the menu. Nice to have a place to go for southern food in the area.

Excellent find off the beaten path

Stopped in here with my wife for lunch after hearing good things from others. It’s the kind of place you can walk into without reservations and get a nice comfortable seat, all tables are 4 tops. The woman running the front of the house was super friendly and kept up with all the tables so service was relatively fast. The food was excellent, especially the hush puppies. The catfish was breaded and fried perfectly, and my wife really enjoyed her fried oysters. The shrimp and tilapia was also good, only the clam strips were a bit chewy. I’m pretty sure this isn’t the place that is flying in all their fish fresh from the Gulf Coast, but you wouldn’t want to deep fry that anyway. This is a place that knows what it is, lacks pretentiousness, and will leave you full and glad you stopped in.

Wonderful southern food!

I only wish I could have tried everything on their menu! Between my spouse and me, we had fried catfish, red beans and rice, slaw, catfish PO’ boy, seafood gumbo, and fried pickles. And, oh my, the hush puppies! Don’t come here for the atmosphere, because it’s just a small strip mall establishment. But the food is awesome, and the young lady who waited on us was delightfully friendly and sweet. Prices were very reasonable.

Disappointed in the catfish

I have been to Beau Legs many times, usually ordering their homemade collard greens, which are unparalleled in our area. This time, I ordered a catfish basket to go. The fish was dried out, the chips were so-so and even though the menu said the dish came with coleslaw, when I opened the carton, there was no coleslaw. That said, I love the family atmosphere of the place, and the always cheerful staff.

GREAT FIND

After a quick shopping trip to Costco we were pretty hungry. I had just flown in for a visit with my sister. So we stopped here. What a fab find! Wish I could've stayed longer so I could try more items! Ordered the catfish/shrimp plate. Both were breaded well & lightly at that. Fried to perfection. It's a small place but seems their take out is hopping! The only negative was the hush puppies. They were over fried & really greasy. Such a shame too as after breaking it open & sampling the center it tasted really good. They were sweet & cake like. LOVED to spicy sauce that came with my sisters fried oysters! Wow. Wish I knew what it was! My sister loved her fried oysters- it had been a long time either of us had had FRIED SEAFOOD & we thoroughly enjoyed it

Cute little place with comfort food.

This is a cute little place, really clean and good service. It was exciting that they serve soul/southern food, and my absolute favorite things from the south are fried catfish and hush puppies. That's exactly what I ordered. The fish came with a side of hush puppies, fries, and coleslaw. It took a while for us to get our food, but I guess that's a good thing because they cook each meal to order. It was okay because you weren't in a rush or anything and the atmosphere was very comfortable. The food came out and looked so good! It also smelled great. The fish was cooked absolute perfection. Golden brown and crisp on the outside, yet juicy and Flaky on the inside. It was perfectly seasoned, and I could barely stop myself from eating it. The fries were fresh and crisp as well and the coleslaw tasty. The biggest disappointment especially because one of the things I was looking forward to the most, where the hush puppies. I had read her previous reviews saying that they look overcooked but they weren't. So I broke off a piece to eat, but it was so greasy in fact the piece I broke off came off in a whole layer and the grease had soaked all the way through. It was crunchy on the outside, yes, but the oil must not have been hot enough or something because both hush puppies we're soaked almost halfway through with grease. I went ahead and took off the whole outer layer of each hush puppy to try and see what the middle tasted like - pretty much nothing. It was so bland and tasted like no other Hush Puppy I've ever had. Also for a Soul Food place I was surprised they didn't have the Louisiana hot sauce.
