Such a hidden treat. We had lunch here quite sometime ago, and bought some frozen items to take home. The spanakopita was delicious, and I'm still fondly remembering the delicious Greek salad. Of course, the baklava just melted in your mouth. I wish that our...lunch didn't create so much waste... and that there were more vegetarian options in the freezer section. If you are anywhere in the area, do stop by!More

A girlfriend and I stopped here for lunch on our way to Yakima. We both had the Olympic Plate Special (half serving of Moussaka, 3 Dolmadakia and side of Greek Salad). Fabulous! Of course, we bought Baklava for later. Amazing! Another reviewer stated, "They must...be holy women, because their baklava is heavenly!" This can be said about everything made by the nuns at St John's Monastery and Bakery.More

The first great gyro since we left the East Coast. We came for a 3 day visit and centered our visit around Goldendale Reindeer Farm (amazing!). The observatory is definitely a must do as well. If you're staying in the area or coming for a...day trip, these three attractions should definitely be on your list . Goldendale has a lot to offer.More

Great bakery choices on unique assorted baked goods . Don’t expect to find maple bars at this bakery as they have flaky crusts with Greek heritage ……cookies , main course meals , assorted unique high end baked goods are deliciously prepared . You can have...a hot meal at a table or get goods boxed and wrapped to go……was a super fun and expensive stop for baked goods .More

A friendly monistary on the outskirts of Goldendale. Plenty of parking. Full of Russian treats and gifts. We picked up some bakery items for snacks on our road trip and enjoyed every bite

We stopped in to get goodies for the next morning. They have a large selection of candies, baked goods and food you can take home to cook. We had the baklava which was some of the best ever. The little cheesecake cupcakes were so rich...and creamy we still dream about them! And the pecan Carmel’s were amazing. Do yourself a favor and stop here if you are anywhere near!More

We live int eh area and have traveled this road for almost 70 years. Never, ever in my mid did I think there would be great Greek food just south of the Yakima Indian Reservation in very rural south central Washington state. But here it...is. What a find. Interesting history. Warm and cold dishes here. Get it to go or sit and eat. Talk with the Nuns. They are your chefs and bakers. Problem is what NOT to order. You cannot go wrong. We will head that way this weekend. See you there!More

Our small group of car buffs drove to St John's Monastery to have a leisurely lunch. We were pleased with the facility, the food, and the location. Their Greek dishes are quality; great ingredients, well/properly prepared; tasty; and filling. We each had one of their..."plates" and no one was disappointed. Prices are good and service is outstanding in spite of COVID-19 restrictions. We'll be back.More

I read the trip advisor reviews and went up there for mid-afternoon goodies. There is an extensive menu of typical Greek items. I ordered two gyros, a Greek salad, and baklava , all excellent. Can't wait to try spanakopita and Moussaka.

St. John's Monastery & Restaurant is a mandatory highway stop on U.S. Highway 97 just outside Goldendale near the Columbia River. Alerted about its existence by a Facebook post from Carol Pucci, longtime Seattle travel writer, we paused here and were immediately stunned by its...wealth of authentic Greek pastries. Flaky crusts and oodles of butter create special magic here. I had a spinach spanokopita for a late lunch, followed that with a riotously rich slice of baklava (yum!). We took along some lemon pastries for the road, plus one of the lovely jams (cherry) also made right here by the nuns. This is a true roadside attraction -- do not pass by!More

I didn't see any indication of public wifi. There is a local wifi network that serves the monastery, but it has no public access.
