While spending a week on Orcas friends from the mainland came over to visit for the day and we went to lunch at Roses, recommended by the owner of our vacation rental. One side of the building is a bakery that also sells cheeses and wines, the other the restaurant, not a huge place. Two of our group had the... More

Roses Bakery is a popular eating spot and with good reason. The emphasis is on fresh, local ingredients and the result is a very tasty seasonal menu. We enjoyed a luxurious chanterelle pizza as well a sweet treat of spiced quince cake. Both were mouth wateringly good. On another trip we stopped at the bakery/deli side for some take out... More

We arrived just 15 minutes before closing, (4pm), but the staff were so gracious in serving us delicious halibut sandwiches and were in no hurry to rush us out. The entire experience after a tiring day to get to the island was so encoiraging, it was an excellent introduction to Orcas. Just sorry we did not have time to return... More

That title isn't fair, unless you know that we were prompted by a friend of my niece in Seattle, who wrote blog post extolling the virtues of Roses! WOW, their lunch offerings were incredible, from a Dungeness crab cake to my choice of halibut, clam and mussel chowder. All exceptional, all best in show! Our servers were awesome, friendly and... Stopped and asked a local where to go for lunch and without any hesitation said "Rose's". We went and we agree! Sat outside and had the roasted tomato and feta soup and the salami sandwich. Both were exceptional and our server twisted our arm for dessert, gravenstein apple pie with buttermilk ice cream. Amazing!

Serves breakfast and lunch. Always excellent. Owners have been on island ones 25 yrs. starting with small deli and growing to restaurant and deli with fresh baked bread. An island institution.

I wish I had Roses in my neighborhood at home. I'd be there all the time. We sat as the bar as there were no more tables but I think that was the best spot as we could watch the kitchen fly. High level food. Very high level service. Impressive for such a little island. Oh, and their attitudes were... More

Breads are excellent. Also great deli adjoining restaurant. Soups are very good, halibut sandwich a fave, mushroom pizza excellent if you like thin crusty pies, mussels and clams with pasta always great, daily specials. But... The noise level can make It hard to hear your partner.

We're eaten here a couple of times over the past year. Generally very good although today my wife's potato nest were a little greasy for her liking. Everything else was spot on..

We were warned by reviews that Roses was on the expensive side but locals said go anyway--and they were right. Paying $20 for pizza at lunch for one is beyond my usual budget but this small thin crust pizza with house-made sausage was excellent. . .and I got to take some home. We also tasted the halibut sandwich and the... More
