Wow! I'm torn. Write an amazing review and reveal a hidden secret or share with the world that this establishment is the epitome of "don't judge a book by its cover." Obviously I can't help but choose the latter. Driving up we were concerned that...Yelp had possibly catfished us and started wondering if maybe we should cross the street to the other restaurant. So glad we stayed on our side of the road. The Old Fishtrap did not disappoint. From service to food they were A+. I ordered a Bloody Mary and WOWZERS! It was delicious. Next was their Clam Special. Special it was indeed. Just check out my pictures. Sooooo many clams. We then ordered their Panko Breaded Fish and Chips and Shrimp and Chips. YUMMY! We pretty much had to roll ourselves out. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food. It's a dive we will definitely return to.More

My wife and I stopped in to The Old Fishtrap for a late dinner after arriving in Longbeach for a weekend getaway. We both ordered the cod fish & chips. Food arrived very quickly. Fish was fresh and tasty. Came with fresh cut french fries...and coleslaw. Very ample portions, too much so that we both took fish home for a nice fish sandwich the next day. Good selection of beer. Service was excellent and the chef came out to chat with us as well. Will certainly plan to visit again when in Chinook.More

They are in the process of updating the exterior and apparently ran into some permitting snags, so the outside is a MESS!! Drove by several times, as had heard how good this place was, but looked awful! Who cares??? Burger was excellent. Prawns were so...good...…..perfect Panko style breading and 4 HUGE prawns. Doesn't sound like much, but I couldn't eat my fries or slaw and my husband had to finish the last prawn! An I'm not a dainty eater!! Very, very good! We'll be back!More

My husband and I stopped for lunch before checking out Cape Disappointment. The service was good, food was fantastic, and prices reasonable. Would definitely go again.

We were drawn to this great local restaurant on a busy Labor Day weekend. Kelly was such a great waitress she guided us through their vast selection of microbrews! The music has an an awesome guitar player Delzell drew us to hours of awesome music.

First of all, the tavern looks like a dive from the outside and the inside isn't all that fancy either but the food...the food is top notch. I had the chicken and salad. $12. It came with a grilled chicken breast that was seasoned nicely....the salad was fresh and I mean fresh, and good. What a great healthy lunch option. My sister had the prawn basket and she said it was great. The cole slaw is creamy and delicious and fresh also. It truly pays tribute to the fish dishes here. Our friend had the portabello burger and she said it was fantastic. Another friend had the catch of the day which was fresh Ling Cod fish and chips. She let me have a bite and it was light, and so very tasty. It's what I'm getting next time! The fries were mostly limp. Still good but not crispy stiff. Another friend had the 'Trap' burger and it was juicy and delicious. She always gets it because she says it's the best cheese burger she's ever had. Big servings too. You won't leave hungry! Service was great and on top of things. Now there are a group of regulars that probably aren't too happy about all the hungry people crowding their tavern but the bar tender keeps them happy at the bar and none of them snapped at me except to ask for a french fry! It's okay, I knew him. He's a local! And so are we. It's nice to have a great place for lunch or dinner near home. Our group goes over to Astoria for lunch a lot but the Fishtrap keeps us closer to home more and more often now. Prices were very reasonable (Plus they always have a handful of specials too). Of course the seafood can be pricey but you're getting your moneys worth here. Fresh seafood, fresh salads, good burgers.More

We have been told this was a good place to eat, so we gladly met our friends there for dinner. We were also warned it could be noisy at night, which also turned out to be true with happy regulars having a good time. A...couple of us had beers, mine being a Guinness Stout on tap. For food, one had a burger (Trap Burger on menu), which is what he normally ordered there and likes. My wife had the Grilled Chicken with a salad. She was happy. The other two of us had one of the specials, Ling Cod Fish and Chips, which was quite good. Service was good and friendly.More
