I stopped by on June 21st, 2020, and even tho the big red bus was there, it looked permanently closed... it was completely empty, no kitchen equipment or anything.

A bit of local fare outside in the sun was a tasty lunch. Food was served piping hot. Expect a bit of a wait.

Located in the heart of the historic Fairhaven district in Bellingham, this walk-up fish & chips “restaurant” is actually an old, red, double-decker bus. There is quaint seating outside in a shaded courtyard, which is situated on a great intersection for people watching! The food...is delicious. I always get one of the fish & chips baskets (halibut, salmon or cod) - or sometimes one of each with the Fisherman’s Catch. I’ve heard the clam chowder is good, too, but I’ve not tried it, yet. The fries/chips are like a “Joe’s” style and taste fresh, although I could eat a few more with the meal.More

This funky old British double decker bus dishes out good fish and chips. There's a tiny indoor place for seating, but the patio dining is great in good weather. Ample portions of fried fish and fries are delicious. Kids' plates are generous and come with...a beverage and soft serve ice cream--our three enjoyed theirs immensely!More

There are numerous places that do fish and chips around town, but this is THE place. They care about their food and make sure to do it right. The place is charming and the various meals are just done right. Don't go in expecting fast...food. Each meal takes time, as each meal is made on the spot for you.More

Stopped by at around 4:55pm, half hour to an hour before they close (conflicting info online) and was told they just took their last order.

My husband and I finally ate lunch here - somehow we always are in the area on closed Mondays or evenings. The fish & chips/salmon & chips were tasty and moist despite using frozen meat. The senior/kids deal was perfect for us - $5 for...one piece of fish ($6 for salmon), modest portion of chips, lemonade, and a soft serve cone (incredible variety of flavors available). A great value, and all the food we needed. Outside tables (the only kind) provide kid-friendly seating and people-watching opportunities in colorful Fairhaven. Counter staff were friendly and helpful.More

It wasn't very busy when I came here but I can see that it would attract a big crowd because of its convenient location. I got the one with all 3 fish types. The halibut was the best but I enjoyed the crunchy outside on...all of them. Everything was a good price. I'm sorry I didn't get to try the soft serve.More

Sadly, despite all the good reviews, this fancy food truck did not deliver. The fish (halibut, cod, salmon) was overcooked, and the breading was thick and greasy. The chips were fine but not special. But the big thing is the long wait times - we...waited more than 30-minutes for our fish & chips order. Actually, you might expect this - Fairhaven Fish & Chips is essentially a fixed-position food truck (a double-decker London bus), and they just don't have the capacity / space to run a full kitchen. Each order is processed slowly in sequence. As for their famous chowder, they were out of it (apparently they frequently are). Despite the quaint setting on a busy corner in old Fairhaven - with picnic tables on various layers of deck (some with umbrellas for shade, some without), the fish & chips were average at best. And while it's slow "fast food", it isn't cheap. Add the ridiculously long wait times, and it's an experience I would not repeat. One goes for the setting, the food is secondary. If that's not what you're looking for, you might want to go somewhere else.More

Fish and Chips here were delicious. We got the sampler with all 3 that included battered Salmon, Cod and Halibut. It was amazing! This is an outside seating restaurant with the kitchen being in the double decker bus. There is not much seating around the...area. It was very busy when we went, but some people left and gave us their table. Looks like they had a lot of great flavors of soft serve Ice cream too, but I was too full from the Fish and Chips to be able to try any.More
