We are used to spicy hot indian food, so were a bit unsure whether we would enjoy the food here and if it would be spicy enough for us. No need to worry. Our very lovely and personable waitress checked how hot we would like...our curries on a scale of 1-5 and we got yummy spicy curry. But even the mild food we ordered had a lovely flavour of spice and herbs without being too hot. If you are a chilli fan and like a lot of heat ask for 5. Totally loved the Gobi Tikka and the Palak Paneer. The goat vindaloo was flavoursome and deliciously rich.More

We were blown away! After reading the reviews, we weren’t certain what to expect. But, you know how it is when you’ve got that Curry Crave. Gotta scratch that itch on your tongue. Went a hot day in early August. Left about 90 minutes later,...so happily full of good food and with enough leftovers to feed us, lightly, for 2 more meals. Amazing! Taj Mahal beer for my main squeeze and Pinot Grigio for me. THEN, they brought the Gobi Pakora, 10 generous pieces, spiced just right and cooked just right. We were full with just eating these! But, what has that got to do with eating Indian? Then, the Lamb Tikka Dal came. And my Gobbi Tikka arrived, as well. Just in case we weren’t pigs enough, we also ordered a Naan. And, the meals came with rice. No wonder we had so much food leftover! My Gobbi Tikka won over the lamb. We ordered the lamb out of curiosity, wondering if the lamb would play happily with the lentils. It was OK, not our favorite. Cooked very well, not the cook’s fault, just not our favorite mix. The cauliflower Tikka was very, very good. Had to try and deflect my darlin’s wandering fork. . . The Naan? Cooked PERFECTLY. Either they have upped their game or the food gods were in a benevolent mood for us. Would we go again? You bettcha!More

Ordered take-out. Prices online are not correct, expect to pay about 15% more upon arriving. As other reviews mentioned the naan is doughy, seems undercooked. The food was bland. It's not terrible, not great. It rubs me the wrong way that the prices listed on...their website are incorrect. Update this please, it's important. If a restaurant can't keep their advertised prices straight you should question what you can't see.More

We are sorry that you didn't enjoy our family's recipe of fresh, cooked-to-order, real tandoori naan - we feel that it compares extremely well with the re-heated from frozen naan at many Indian restaurants (which always comes out very dry and boring) but we do...More

Yesterday, we had lunch at Tandori Bites. I have been looking around for good Indian food, have been to Vancouver for fabulous Indian food. This little restaurant was a gem. the food was good. Three of us ordered fried cauliflower, fried eggplant, crispy shrimp and...a special chicken dish that is popular in India. Delicious! The only one we did not rate a 10, was the fried eggplant, which was not as tasty as everything else. The waitress was friendly and knew food. She was part of her family-owned business.More

My friend and I were the only ones seated in there for lunch. The waitress was nearly nonexistent. We wanted to order from the menu, but got the feeling that by avoiding us, we'd do their buffet. It took a long time to finally get...our food. My Butter Chicken was good, but my friend said her Indian Masala's chicken wasn'the tender. We ordered 2 Chai teas and had to remind the waitress after a long wait. It was the weakest tea and had a slight sour taste. After a wait, we told the waitress and her response was that we were probably used to Starbucks Chai!! Seriously!! I have Punjabi friends who make authentic Chai. I will not go back.More

First a bit about the competition and why we now rank Tandoori Bites the best. We've been on the hunt for great Indian food in Bellingham. We tried Naan and Brew 3 times and decided there had to be something better, particularly after having several...vegetable-based dishes at Naan and Brew in which it was painfully obvious the vegetables were a frozen blend from Costco. I also had read several Naan and Brew reviews stating the owner seemed to have an issue with noise and children and I didn't give it much credence until we observed this ourselves. A very, very normal child was sitting at the table making totally normal 5-year old noise levels (we don't have kids and are sensitive to kids acting inappropriately in restaurants) and yet the owner looked at the table several times making faces. We decided then we wouldn't be back. So off to Tandoori Bites! I do know a little bit about food and qualified to judge a restaurant meal. I worked in two major food corporation test kitchens for 36 years developing thousands of recipes and wrote over 26 cookbooks, including serving as the editor of an Indian cookbook. I worked closely with the Indian chef. He now travels all over the United States teaching classes and has many cookbooks. The food at Tandoori Bites is authentic and layered with spices and flavor. It is so good, addictingly good! We've had the saag paneer, the chicken saag, the vegetable biriyani (uses fresh vegetables except peas of course) samosas, the potato pakora and the superlative and divine onion naan. That onion naan is utterly delicious. So tender, crisp edges, buttery, fresh. Wonderful. The basmati comes to the table just wafting of nutty butteriness. They ask you the spice level and they make it accordingly in the kitchen, they don't just sprinkle red pepper flakes on top! You can taste the spices of Indian cuisine here---cumin, coriander, cardamom, cinnamon, etc. depending on the dish. People will often write that Indian dishes are bland, well not all cuisines are bold with flavor, some are subtle. That's not a valid judgment unless you know the dish. Butter chicken for example isn't vindaloo, Butter chicken is more mild and subtle, not excessively bold. Yet theirs is full of flavor. The atmosphere is just okay and it's in a strip mall, but the service is good and the food is wonderful. The first time we were there we had a brand new employee, so it's not fair to comment negatively about a few minor misses! Everyone has a first day on the job! We've been twice and will be back.More

Have returned three times since a change in ownership and staff. Although the menu is basically the same, the recipes for familiar favorite dishes are different. Subtle layers of flavor no longer evident in the curries and aloo gobi. Eggplant pakora was a bright spot--...generous portions, hot and crispy outside, tender and creamy inside. Cloth napkins replaced by thin paper ones. Unfortunately, this is no longer our family favorite local Indian restaurant!More

the food was excellent.....you could distinguish the different spices. So often when you eat at an ethnic restaurant you get several dishes and they taste all the same. Not so here....was all different and excellent and very tasty. The best Indian food I have had...outside of Canada.More
