Stepped into this bustling little cafe and received a warm welcome by hostess Rachel. Delicious smells, natural light and upbeat music complemented the friendly atmosphere. Rachel continued her lively chat, while she took our orders. Food was served up quickly. Delicious biscuits and gravy with...big chunks of sausage and a side of hash browns with caramelized onions. Mmm mmm! Plenty of cheer.More

Remarkably creative food preparations. Thoughtful, sophisticated and fun decor. Sadly, the Lioness who greeted me this morning was the antithesis of this establishment's namesake. I am hoping the oversized tip I left might engender a spring in her step, and perhaps some cheer in her...heart...More

Nice little cafe with good menu. We were walking around town looking for a place for lunch. We had come into town and had coffee and were just wandering around until we got hungry. We walked by the Little Cheerful Cafe and saw a sign...on the door they offer dinner to the homeless on Monday evenings. I believe they serve some of the same food they have on their menu. That was enough to make me want to have lunch there. I had the veggie browns with 2 eggs on top. The veggies were delicious and nice and al dente. There was broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, sweet potato all cooked nicely. The eggs were also cooked perfectly. And there was sliced avocado on top. Very good meal.More

That's what they are known for, breakfast. Good american breakfast with hashbrowns. I wouldn't say "special" but solid and good.

For many years we always look for the small, "out-of-the-way", "Little Place" that should be unique. This IS IT. . .! Is the kitchen in the Serving area? OR, do you eat in the kitchen??? I usually just ask for "Breakfast"... the server will say;..."What do you want?" and I reply: Bring me your most popular breakfast! The menu claims to have the second-best Eggs-Benny in Bellingham, that's only because another restaurant started serving them first! Everything at this place is "tongue-in-cheek" . . . Be SURE to read the history of the establishment, on the back of the menu. The hash browns are THE BEST I have ever had in a restaurant; Properly Crispy! AND, there are about 17 different kinds of "Hot-Sauce" to choose from. . . I had the Blackstone Benny. . . could only eat half. . . Took the rest home for tomorrow! The thick-cut bacon is cooked just right, and VERY GENEROUS serving. It was our first visit, but certainly not our last! Prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality of food & preparation!More

Evidently this is a Bellingham staple but we had never eaten here because they are not listed as having gluten free options. They have gluten free options and they “get it.” We sat outside in the patio with our dog and the dog got water...along with us! The people on the street were quite entertaining. I had the Hawaiian Hash Browns (photo) which were outstanding. Service was slow with many apologies - it was around 1pm on a Sunday. All in all it was a good experience and we will go back. Be aware that they only take cash or check.More

I happened upon this café and it looked like a nice mix of customers so I entered, even though I was turned off by the name. I expected ordinary breakfast food but was pleasantly surprised. The waitress let me custom order so that I didn't...get too much food. The crab cakes with avocado were excellent, crispy but not greasy and with good crab meat. The bowl of fruit was so big that I took half of it home. All the fruit was fresh and much in season: pears, raspberries, blueberries...There was a friendly vibe throughout the café and staff and customers were conversing. Obviously a local favorite. And now mine as well.More

We ate here for the first time on a busy Saturday morning. Loved it! The atmosphere is quirky. Nothing matches which is the charm. The staff is very friendly and busy busy busy. It takes a while to get your food so order a beverage.... . . coffee or mimosa. Sit back and enjoy. There were four of us. We ordered everything from a breakfast sandwich to biscuits and gravy. I orderthe crabcakes benedict. It was spicy but the eggs were perfectly cooked. Will definitely not be our last visit.More

Great tunes, great food (we had breakfast - the eggs benedict was FABULOUS!). Our waitress was fast and friendly and had no problem chatting about things to do in the area. Don't miss this local tastery keeping the great American diner experience alive in Bellingham!
