About
Mostly Organic and Made from Scratch food in the beautifully renovated Hungry Bear Market at the Chevron! Quality convenient meals made by a fine dining chef. Since Covid, Jake's has transitioned to strictly "Grab'n Go" food located in our cooler, freezer, and pastry rack. We are still there 7 days a week, making comfort food ready to eat, and ready to re-heat, in hopes of making your day go a little easier. Sorry hot food is not available at this time.

Jakes is located at the Chevron by the intersection of High School road and Hwy 305. I tried the Party in the Garden pulled pork salad and the wife just wanted eggs and toast. Just as reviewed, the counter folks were very friendly, the food very good and the atmosphere fun. You can eat at stools near the counter or outside on benches. Give it a try. Busy intersection near the ferry.

With all we had read, we knew that we had to eat here when we spent a day of our vacation on Bainbridge Island. We ate lunch here — very filling sandwiches on freshly baked bread (Jake told us they bake all of their bread) . We sat outside on the picnic tables — I guess these belong to the gas station — because it was a warm and sunny day but there are also a few tables inside. A few hours later, we went back before catching the return ferry to Seattle. We needed food for a trip to Rainier the next day so we chose sandwiches, side salads and desserts from the to-go case. Jake’s was actually closed by then but a young man stocking the shelves bragged about the daily freshness of all their food. Eat here......or at least get your take-out here! I would be interested to know what ambitions Jake has but definitely eat here when you can.

Best roast beef sandwich I've ever had! Perfectly rare slices of fork-tender beef and a lot of it, horseradish parmesan cream sauce with lettuce and tomato on a warm, crispy baguette. Don't let the gas station location fool you, the food is fab here.

I purchase food for a few days, and we take our food out rather than eating in. The place has very few tables, also a few tables outside. Yet doe me it's mostly grab and go. Mom and son come up with the ideas for food. They are friendly and very good cooks. The owner also does catering. We have attended a few of those events. Very good selection of food and again delicious.

I read the reviews so had to try it! Probably the best tuna sandwich we have ever had! Food, service is great but overall pricey. Teeny, tiny scone for $3.00.

Great clean convenience store with a Jake take out counter and bakery. Great scones and take home meals. Love the prepared meals.

Don’t be fooled into thinking Jake’s isn’t good because it’s in a gas station mini mart! From the friendly staff at Jake’s and the mini mart, to the best coffee, to flourless and gluten free desserts that are sinful, to the tri-power burger and on... stop by here! We stumbled upon it today, and only wish they were open longer! Local, organic, friendly, delicious - what more could you ask for?! (Order at Jake’s counter, receive order form, pay at minimart check out, give paid receipt when food is ready.) Try flourless chocolate muffin!

This is a 'restaurant' inside a local gas station/mini-mart. It's basically a sandwich counter but don't think Subway - this is all homemade southern type cooking such as pulled pork sandwiches with slaw (but don't try to eat them with your hands!), as well as burgers, sales and on Saturdays hand made cinnamon rolls. Tables and even outside seating are available, or of course take it to-go. Jake makes a pretty good meal...

Tasty, natural food. Jake makes his own bread daily which helped make my tuna sandwich incredibly good.

Located at a gas station one might have concerns....don't be fooled. A very sophisticated palate...a great range of flavors and a very complete menu. Among the best food on Bainbridge.

The reviews were dead on. We had planned on stopping here to get lunch on the way to Mt. Olympus. We got there early so they were still preparing lunch. The pulled pork was not available so we both got the Ahi Tuna Fish and some baked goods. Excellent flavor! I also got the last two Sconenuts which were very tasty. Everything hit the spot! Great choice for day trippers!

After finding that Jake was a BAMA grad, we were immediately drawn to his place, as we are, too!. However, when we ate his food, we realized we should have been drawn by our appetites! My Cloud Bread Sammy (Gluten-free) of eggs, bacon, cheese and basil mayo, was close to the best thing I have ever had for breakfast! I have traveled, literally, a great deal of the world, and this stuff is Heavenly! My lovely daughter had the Pork (pulled, BBQ'd pork), egg, cheese Sammy, not GF, and she loved it. My wife, also lovely, had the Sammy with bacon, eggs, and cheese, and of course, the world-class basil mayo. We all LOVED our breakfasts. The coffee, cappuccino, and Latte that we had were also wonderful. Jake himself was very friendly, helpful, and nice. Very important to Southerners! If I lived on Bainbridge Island, I'd be there daily! I guess you have figured out by now we LOVED it! The frittatas looked great, too, but we were too full. Maybe tomorrow... RTR!

Ok, yes, Jake's is in a gas station but, wow, what wonderful food. I've been here several times and never disappointed. The cinnamon buns and cronuts are great, sandwiches tasty, salads interesting and good. To be honest, everything is the best. The staff and Jake are personable and helpful. There are several tables for eating in. Try it out, you'll be amazed.

The shrimp PO boy is spicy but not too hot. The strawberry scone is to die for. Soon to come is mother's gluten and sugar free banana bread. Sweetened by dates. Really good and moist.
