It is what it says it is. Decent food , clean, friendly but understaffed and plenty of TV's to watch your team. Crazy us for getting reservations but it worked on a Saturday at 7:30 while others waited. Party of 7. Good time!

You advertise that you are a sports bar with all the TV connections to the big games and then, on a football Sunday, you close up at 9:00 pm? Does the Heidi game ring a bell? In fairness, we weren't there to view a particular...late ending game. We were killing time until we had to meet friends at the nearby Kingsmill Resort. Even given those circumstances, we were surprised when they announced last call. Earlier we had eaten a late lunch so we weren't starving. My wife and I went with splitting a grilled cheese sandwich and a bowl of their soup. I will say that the sandwich was better than most and my wife raved about the soup. At 8:00 pm on a football Sunday we were surprised how uncrowded the restaurant was in this tourist heavy district. We sat at the bar where we could converse with a couple of the locals. On last call one of them paid his tab in cash and proceeded to stumble away from the bar absent both his wallet and his cell phone. By the time the bartender reached him in the parking lot, he was trying to get into someone else's car. She handed him his wallet and cell phone, directed him to the correct car and watched him drive off into the rain. Not sure that would have been my way of handling him. But it will tell you all you need to know about this place.More

We were not impresed at all. I had a steak that was over cooked and the waiter never came to check on our meal untill we were 90% done. Also I did not get any salad dressing on my salad. I could go on but...not great service and just average food. It apeared to be a great place to have a beer and watch a game.More

Food just ok. Server was new and not ready to be on his own. We had to remind him of items we needed and had asked for. Was not available and in other areas for much of the time. Portions small for price.

Stayed nearby, went on a Saturday, had a great time. Wings are fantastic, service was on point. Liked it so much, we went on Sunday. 20 minute wait with 8 open tables, staff said the kitchen was overwhelmed. Hear another say it took 45 minutes...for a table to get there food. It may have been a staffing issue? I hate it for them. I know it's toughMore

We initially chose this restaurant because it was not far from where we were staying at Kings Creek Plantation. The reviews looked good, so we thought we would give it a try. Great choice! We were greeted warmly by the hostess as we walked into...the door and show to our table by Kyle, our server. Everyone was incredibly friendly, and Kyle was enthusiastic and liberal with her recommendations. My daughter had a generously portioned club salad, but I settled on fish and chips. It was the best f&c I have had since I was in London. They even had malt vinegar as a condiment. Their menu is extensive, entrees ranging from burgers to filet mignon. They also had catfish, but I haven't eaten one of those since as a child I used to catch catfish with my daddy. Seeing it on the menu brought back fond memories. We were seated near the bar, but it wasn't noisy, just lively. It was a terrific place to people watch. Now, I'm a 75 year old grandmother with my (I won't give her age :-)) daughter, and we felt perfectly at home. We had hoped to go back for another meal, but, alas, we never did. If you do go, ask for Kyle as your server, order your favorite item on the menu, and be prepared to sit back and relax!More

We have been coming to Sportsman’s Grill for YEARS. We live close and have lived in Williamsburg for 30+ years. This place is a Williamsburg staple. Tonight not only was put waitress dressed like a common hooker (bra was showing as well as underwear) but...one of the waitstaff used the restroom without washing their hands. Our waitress did not even refill drinks one time- she also did not put any sauces on our plates nor did she get any of our order correct. Not to mention she stopped to ask if we needed something but did not wait to listen. We literally flagged her down across the restaurant. The food was literally frozen when we got it as well. In addition the restaurant put an automatic 20 percent tip on our check because it was “crab leg night” which gave our waitress an extra $30 we would have NEVER given her (we had alcohol mind you- so that tip was barely even food). It was unfair and definitely undeserved. We have been coming for ten years and will NOT be back. EVER. I don’t even want to give one star!More

My wife and I were looking for a quick place to eat lunch on a Lent Friday and just happened to see Sportsman’s Grille. The restaurant was crowded for lunch but we found a table in the bar. THe atmosphere is neat with plenty of...sports memorabilia filling the walls. The waitress was friendly and efficient. I had a good fish sandwich and my wife had a grilled cheese and soup, both which were above average for bar food. The prices were also reasonable..More

We are locals, and visit this restaurant now and then for great wings, and sometimes for business lunches. Went today with my kids. First, we were seated at the absolute worse table in the place, right in front of restrooms, at the intersection of the...bar and door to kitchen. There were multiple other options. We asked if we could move elsewhere, and the hostess said we could go anywhere. We chose a booth. At this point we waited and waited. It was clear there was one person waiting on all of the tables, inside and out ( on a Saturday, at lunch?). She walked by several times... never acknowledging us. She finally came by and asked for a drink order. I told her we were ready to order our food as well, was told there was one cook, so they are trying not to overwhelm him. I stated we had already waited a long time, just to get a drink order. She reluctantly took our order. Long wait to get drinks. Eventually got our wings, they were good as always. We devoured them since we were starving... it had been well over 30 minutes. Waited and waited for food. Eventually received it. Son ordered a burger, no toppings, medium well, it was well done with all the toppings. I ordered birdie chicken salad. Two pieces of store bought, thinly sliced pound cake are on the side, I would suggest skipping those. Salad was good, but while eating, I felt something hard in my mouth. I pulled it out and discovered it was a nail. Yes, a silver nail. The sharp end had been cut off. Thank God this was in my food, not my kids and thank goodness I did not bite down on this, as I am sure it would have broken a tooth. I can't help but wonder if this was deliberately placed, because we had insisted on ordering. I then saw the cook come out, stare at our table, walk to the register, then walk back to the kitchen. ?? Now we had been there well over an hour and a half, server came over Eventually, and I showed her the nail and asked for our bill, since I had clearly stopped eating my food long before and we were ready to leave. She disappeared, Eventually showed up and said they were shocked in the back because they couldn't figure out how a nail could get in the food. Well, your guess is as good as mine, but at the very least a manager should have been to our table immediately. What if I would have swallowed the nail? She did say she was sorry, and removed my salad from the bill and gave a 10 percent discount. There is no excuse. This is unacceptable. Employee shortage is no excuse either. I would not suggest taking your chances here, and it is a shame, because we have always enjoyed this spot. It just isn't worth the risk.More

Got in late and ordered takeout from Sportsman's Grille as it was the only place close by that wasn't fast food. Wasn't expecting much beyond typical prefab bar food, but was pleasantly surprised. Everything tasted fresh and was well-prepared.

All the hamburgers were very much overcooked. The medium well had NO...JUICE or color at all and were crisp on outside. Some of the wings were burned.
