We had a great experience at La Tienda for tapas during an afternoon of wine tasting. The atmosphere was perfect and the food was delicious with wonderful flavors. Can’t wait to go back.

This restaurant was recommended by people who appreciate good food. Evidently the cook they had quit since their visit. I knew we were in trouble when the meal started with a bowl of mushy olives. It’s not worth describing the rest of the meal because...it was horrible. VERY DISAPPOINTED!More
Taking orders for food you can’t deliver and not admitting to for over an hour is no way to run a restaurant. Leaving a customer without food for an hour 🤷 Then speaking to the customer like it’s their fault even worse.
We so enjoy tapas so when we are out of town we try to find a great Spanish restaurant and this one did not disappoint! The beef kabobs were perfectly cooked and seasoned. White wine Sangrias were refreshing. Salad with strawberries, manchego cheese and almonds...was so fresh. Shrimp dish was addicting. Our fave tapas is always the potatoes. Yum all over the menu. Sitting outside was a treat. Olivia served us and was so kind and passionate about the menu and specials. Thank you so much! We would return if in the area!More
Four of us went on a Tuesday night, no reservations and it was busy - but we were lucky to get a large table near the bar. All of us loved the food, we shared numerous tapas dishes including ham and cheese croquetas (fine but...what you’d expect from fried croquettes), boquerones (mild white anchovies, good quality), and the absolute star was Berenjenas con Miel y Thyme, very thin sliced eggplant lightly fried with a little honey/thyme atop - heavenly! We ordered the small version of Paella de Pollo y Chorizo, and though I don’t normally like chicken this was a tasty dish, lots of flavor. We should have ordered the paella earlier as it took awhile to prepare - we were not in a hurry but the time was near 9:00 (closing time) and we didn’t want to keep the staff. They didn’t seem to mind, though, service was friendly and efficient. Of note, we found that on Tuesdays bottles of wine are half price, so we ordered a red and a white. Both Spanish of course, and both delicious - the white was a particularly good pairing with the eggplant dish. Such a fun and memorable experience! We will definitely return (and we visit the area several times a year).More
We buy from La Tienda website and were excited to try their Tapas Bar. A few things 1. Easy drive from W&M. Straight shot 2. Got very crowded on a Thurs night. Regulars. 3. I suggest to NOT go as just a couple. Too many...wonderful choices! I had two tapas and wife had small paella for 1-2. Way too much food. 4. Saw two groups (looked like profs and then students). Groups of 5-7. Looked so fun Food review Bacon wrapped dates with Manchego cheese. Great dish to share. Came with 6…see pic. Spinach Catalan was very good. Again, a dish for 3 people. Small paella (seafood only version) was good. Mussels were small. I’d try the meat version. Service review We sat in area of their little store. Nice and quiet. But for action and fun, try to get in bar area. Seemed like that was hopping. Have fun. A good change.More
By far the best Spanish food in Williamsburg. They have a great wine selection and frozen foods from Spain.
My husband and I had passed la Tienda so many times and it looked so interesting so we finally decided to go there on a Saturday for lunch. Our waitress Emily was wildly enthusiastic and explained everything; beforehand we had done our homework and looked...at the menu on line. Well, forget that, we went with her recommendations and had a truly wonderful experience. Every single dish we ordered was absolutely delicious and memorable. Something has to be said for the time of day you go and altho it got much busier when we were leaving, it was very relaxed early afternoon making it most enjoyable. We will return!More
We had not been to La Tienda in years - since it was just a store for Spanish themed food and wine. It is now a Tapas restaurant that also sells some La Tienda stuff. If you have the chance, it makes for an incredible...date-night. The wine selection is excellent, the food is incredible, and the service superb. We had a bottle of the 2018 Ramirez de La Piscina, a Spanish red. Agreeable across a wide variety of palettes, with a smooth finish. For a light dinner we shared tapas. Highly recommend the Croquetas Jamon y manchego, lightly crispy and tender inside, absolutely delicious. The Berenjenas con miel is a thinly sliced eggplant drizzled with honey. Spinach Catalan is sautéed spinach with a bit of a twist - chickpeas and raisins - who knew? You must, must, must try the Pinchos Moruno! Moroccan spiced beef kebabs were tender and absolutely delicious! Carol's service was impeccable, especially her presentation and service of the wine. Overall, La Tienda is a gem for couples looking for an adult night out at a nice place with great atmosphere and food.More
This has been the single best dining experience of my entire life. I came to sit at the bar and sip coffee whilst completing multimillion dollar business transactions via email. Every dish was beautiful, both on the eye and the palate, and the sangria was...simply to die for. My server, Susan, was wonderful and provided the best of service. It seemed like, by the end of the night, I had interacted to some extent with all of the front-of-house staff, and I couldn’t be more pleased to see such a knowledgeable group of servers, hosts, and bussers, backed by some of the best chefs this world has ever seen. Will be back.More
One of my favorite locations to order Spanish food. It was doubly nice to be able to visit and enjoy a nice dinner. All was yum. The cheese board was a bit expensive for what we got. I enjoyed shopping in their small market.
We were excited to have the opportunity to visit friends in Williamsburg, after ordering several items from their catalog! Oh wow?!? What a huge disappointment. We got there 20 minutes before our reservations to look around the “market”. What a joke, they barely had anything...and very over priced. In the refrigerated section the tapas kits, had spoiled meat and olives looked off! The hostess told us the waitress was feeling overwhelmed and could we wait and start a drink for us. The hostess was actually telling people with no reservations would have to wait 40-60 minutes. People were leaving! We ordered a pitcher of sangria and waited. You’d think because we were willing to wait, hostess could give a discount or complimentary drink! We got seated to a very crowded room. We ordered several tapas. Our patatas bravas and Croquetas Jamón y Mancheg were pretty good. However, the Spanish Patatas Bravas should be spicy and served with red sauce because of the paprika.m, not! Sauce was buttery and yellowish!?!? Then we had to wait for Berenjenas con Miel (fried eggplant), and it was on the cold side, no flavor and overdone in the honey. Next, we had Con Tomate and it was awful! In Spain it’s just tomato spread, they overloaded oil and garlic on cold toasted bread with a very tiny amount of tomato. I had to ask for more tomato. Waitress responded with a side of the tomato spread, stating”it’s just straight tomato”, my response was “I know!” Lastly, we waited forever for our last tapas, Gambas al Ajillo. Just awful! The shrimp were so over cooked, cold, tough and they certainly were not in a oil, wine, garlic sauce! Served with one tiny sliver of bread! It was purely butter! What a joke! This is not true Spanish food! I will not purchase anything from their catalog and DO NOT recommend thus restaurant. Overpriced for not authentic Spanish food! What a shame!More
We found this place on line and after checking out the menu we wanted to try it. The menu displayed online had very nice charcutier board with breads and great snacking items and the price on the menu was $27. We get there and request...to order the very same thing showing the photo for the online menu we received a board that was half the size for $27 same price as website and no breads. I am from Europe and you don't eat a charcutrie board with no breads or crackers. We then requested the bread it took over 20 mins to arrive to our table by that time we had already ate what was on the board with no bread then on top of that they charged $5.00 for the bread! That is outrageous no adjustments were made after we raised out concerns. We will not return!More
First time having dinner at La Tienda with friends who had been there before. They ordered a bunch of different tapas dishes, but I went for the seafood paella (for one). I only eat this dish at one special restaurant near my home in Maryland,...but decided to try it here. It was very, very good! I also tasted a couple of the tapas dishes and they were also excellent! Their white sangria was also very tasty. The only reason I gave the restaurant a 4 vs a 5 is because our waitress was gruff--almost to the point of being rude. Don't know what her issue was, but we weren't difficult or even demanding...guess she was just having a bad day, but it was a distraction from an otherwise wonderful dinner with friends.More
We had a wine tasting paring with tapas. It was a great dinner. The food was great and pared excellent with the food. I especially enjoyed the seafood stew and pork meatballs. Very nice evening.
