Nice venue, extensive menu. Just such huge portions, really, who eats like this? Perhaps a little more emphasis on quality over quantity and this place would be a fave. Service was slow on a busy night, but everyone was polite and attentive.
An appealing place to eat inside or outside in their plastic enclosed patio. There are a couple tables on the patio with a gas fire pit in the middle of the table that seats eight each, so would be just wonderful for groups of friends...or meetings! Full bar. Large varied menu with brunch specials. Food is colorful and appealing. However the nachos were very dry, tasteless and not enough cheese. Two of us didn’t get what we ordered. Complimentary cannoli was tasteless. The day that we went, there weren’t many customers. Don’t understand why, but it took 45 minutes to get our food! Extended wait time for waiter taking our orders or checking on us for condiments or beverage refills. Restrooms are in deplorable condition! Needs a total remodeling and most importantly, a total cleaning. They were very nasty.More
Not ready to eat inside a restaurant yet? Cold weather is here in Williamsburg so open patio is a problem. We just got our first Covid vaccination, so a month or more from our dining in date.
Paul’s Deli in Newtown has the solution. Enclosed...porches with overhead heating. Windows by your table that can be raised. Tables with a gas fire pit built in! That solved our problem.
I have reviewed Paul’s several times in the past, but am constantly amazed at their menu selections. Latest trip, lunch. We split the Texas Ruben on the special menu. Need I remind you that Paul’s portion sizes are huge? Added an additional side of slaw ( perhaps the best in Williamsburg).
Previous lunch last week, tried Don’s Pot Roast on the special menu. Perhaps the best pot roast I have had in the last 20 years. Took a bit of it home and had a meal for two that evening (I did mention that Paul’s portions are huge)!
Final surprise was our Wait Staff, Tabithe. She is delightful, efficient and full of suggestions (the Pot Roast was her idea). Brought us two cannolis (fresh made) after the Texas Ruben. We normally don’t eat a desert, but will not likely pass the cannolis up in the future.

Early dinner at Paul's was such a treat. The server was attentive and well trained. The menu extensive enough to satisfy both seafood and meat eaters inour party. Three of us ordered soft shell crabs, which were the best we've eaten in a long time....Deep fried and crispy served with french fries and cold slaw. The others ordered gyro dinners, which had mounds of lamb and veggies. Excellent.More
Been to Paul's many times before and that's why we went back. But on Saturday 25 Oct at 2 pm, the owner should know as we were rudely sat in a booth in the far corner of the restaurant. We said thank you as we...were seat, no reply and 15 minutes after being seated and multiple waiting staff walking pass and standing at the kitchen door, no one came to the table. So we left and won't go back.More
I have seen a lot of pics on one of the FB sites I frequent about Paul's Deli and their soft shell crabs, so we went today for lunch. I had the crabs, my g/f had the tuna salad. Crabs (2) were served over French...fries, and they were awesome. G/f was a little disappointed with the tuna salad, but she managed to eat most of it. She expected more veggies that what came. Service was good also.More
Dined on a Monday evening around five. Ordered fish and chips. The fries were cold and obviously frozen. Flounder was good but not warm. A trip to the bathroom offered views of dirty floors in the restaurant and very dirty floors in the restroom. During...this time of COVID, there should be extra precautions for cleanliness. To my dismay, there were no paper towels. I have enjoyed this restaurant in the past, but will not be returning.More
Outstanding food and service. Awesome lunch, burger, Rubin excellent. Hot ham and cheese and hot roast beef subs incredible. Buffalo mozzarella fresh, again all food was great and exceeded our expectations. Service was better. Young man was very attentive. Thanks for a terrific lunch.
We came here for the nightlife! It was Mardi Gras and this was one of the only bars open that night! Come on, Williamsburg! Glad we ended up here though, the bartenders were super friendly and fun, poured good drinks and made sure we had...a good time as well as making sure we weren’t driving home before keeping them coming. Our bill was a little higher than we were expecting, but that can happen after some drink, haha.More
Being a W&M alum from the '80's, Paul's is synonymous with subs, and being a creature of habit I have ordered subs most of the time. For the last several visits, I purposely have ordered from the specials menu. No surprise, the spanakopita was delicious...and the portions was huge. I enjoyed the leftovers the next day. On another visit I had the Sausage Bolognese - simple dish with a very flavorful, tangy sause and plenty of sausage. Delicious, and again, a huge portion. I used the excuse that it would taste better fresh to finish it all. The last visit this weekend I had the seafood special - snapper, scallops, shrimp, noodles and a savory broth. Wow! Well seasoned snapper, tender shrimp and scallops, just a well done dish.
My wife and I both find the food better at the Newtown location. Scotland St. has a lot of memories and I still stop in for a sub at lunch, but as "adults" we favor Newtown. Still a lively place to watch a game and catch-up with friends. No one is a stranger. Service is friendly, and it is a good value as well.
Paul's was built on subs and pizza, but I will continue to try the specialties. I have to ask, "what took me so long?".More

They serve brunch on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 9:30 am. The food is delicious and well worth the visit. They also have plenty of seating to include outdoor seating that can be open or closed depending on the weather. Parking can be found along the street or in the various parking lots around the area. Enjoy!
