We visited Williamsburg last week for the 1st time. Many sources touted Food For Thought as amazing. It was nice, but I couldn't call it spectacular. Things didn't start off on the best note. We made a reservation and arrived on time., When they placed...us in the bar to eat (we have 2 kids) we asked to move in the dining room, it seemed like a big inconvenience. I understand covid and the 1 hour and 10 min allotted for your meal, but I felt it was unnecessary to write it on your table in big letters. It sent the message, "Your lucky to be here." (at least to me.) Our waiter was excellent. Friendly, courteous and timely in all aspects. The food was fine. Not really the inventive signature dishes I expected. Pad Thai was the same pad Thai I've had anywhere else. Maybe my expectations were too high?More

We stop every year when we visit Williamsburg. This year was no different, even with COVID. They have strict rules in place, including waiting until you are called to enter the restaurant (we had reservations), and a posted dining time of no longer than 75...minutes. Your start time was actually recorded on your paper table cloth. Wait staff were masked, professional and prompt. The menu is varied and always very good. Please support this establishment. They are doing the right things.More

Great food. Gluten and dairy free items available. Thought provoking decor. Reasonable time limit set to minimize wait.

Family of 5 visited here for dinner. Menu had fewer choices than I expected, not sure if that was regular menu or Covid menu. I had the fried fish & chips; it was awesome. Hubby had the seafood platter & loved it, neither of us...could finish our meals. Son had the po’boy shrimp sandwich. He didn’t like the sauce, but the shrimp were huge! All of us, loved the fries.More

My daughter and I spent a week in Williamsburg and Food for Thought was on my list of restaurant recommendations. We were both so glad that we decided to eat there. The seafood dinners were fresh and tasty, service was outstanding and the restaurant did...a great job of adhering to social distancing restrictions. Next time we are in Williamsburg, we plan to go back there for breakfast. Yummy!More

OMG what a delight. I’m not a vegetarian but ordered the spaghetti squash with mushroom garlic sauce. Came with jasmine rice with mushrooms. Perfection

My wife and I enjoyed a meal at Food For Thought. We had been to Williamsburg many and this is the first time we tried this restaurant. The food was good and the restaurant observed Covid-19 policies. I had the meatloaf and pot roast meal...called the Family Reunion. It was delicious and the mash potatoes that came with it were creamy. I also had an order of the fall of the bone tasty ribs as an appetizer.More

We had been here years before but this was our first return visit In quite some time. Our first big meal was here and even with all the COVID restrictions everything was awesome. Both my wife and I had great dishes. The only negative I...can cite is their desserts weren’t fantastic, just good. But since dessert is optional for most folks, I didn’t take off a star for that. Oh one other negative observation, we returned the next day for a repeat, only to find that they are closed on Tuesday’s 😩. Obviously joking on this point, but good to know since most online resources indicate they are open every day.More

It was our first night in town and came here based on TA reviews. There are a lot of restaurants in the area and this was a good choice for us. We had a shrimp PO-boy and the red beat salad. They are doing the...best they could due to Covid but we missed out on the Thought cards. There was one thing that I thought was off putting - they have a time limit for your stay and when you are seated, the time that you need to vacate is written on the paper table covering. In my opinion, that all depends on their service, doesn’t it? No big deal, just unusual.”More

No. They do however offer priority waitlist seating to a limited number of guests. It is important to note that even the waitlist seating does not mean that seating will be available upon your arrival.
